I think metal elitism is funny and entertaining in a tongue in cheek way. But in reality, the people who listen to a variety of styles come across better and more open minded. The elitist mentality is oppressive if taken too seriously. No one should form their opinion on music based on looking cool to elitists. You will stop enjoying music if you don’t listen to what you love and enjoy. Best to ignore their opinion and proudly promote and show off your individual taste. There is only one of you so represent!
I stopped using the reddit metal forum for ridiculous gatekeeping and elitistism. The final straw was back when Wayne Static died and they had an RIP post for him so I posted one of my favorite songs by Static X and the mods removed it saying they weren't a metal band, which obviously left me flabbergasted.
It's funny, I recorded a video this past weekend before seeing this that the worst thing to ruin something are the fanboys who have such strong opinions that it sucks the fun out of something.
well you’re right, it’s just that metalhead is such a wide category. you meet a person calling themselves a metalhead and they might only listen to numetal. it’s a little disappointing
Insomniunm!! Great. That's not their first album actually. Their still doing really well. Though some people might not like clean vocals by old Sonata Arcitca guitarist. To me they are fine. LOL a bit of an odd question for this vid but I'm game after doing a bit of research on it my views are "complicated". I DEFINITELY think that humans are SEVERELY overpopulated and we are destroying the world. I would definitely support reducing the human population naturally over time as in fewer people having kids and as older generations die off not replacing all of the people who are gone. Do I think it would be better to have never been born? I dunno I'm glad I exist even if a lot of it is unpleasant drudgery. To really dive into this I would need to make a whole other vid on it.
