- The Taipei City government organizes a special event bus from the Taipei Zoo to Pingxi during the Lantern Festival which only costs 50NT (~$1.58 USD), with a free return trip. Many visitors opt to take the train which is slower and requires a transfer to the Pingxi Line at Ruifang Station. Driving in is also not a great option since most of the roads are closed off only to buses.

Best Wishes 👌 To The ActionKid For A Happy Year Of The Dragon 🐉 ! 🐼
This was an efficient bus ride at a low cost, and one gets to see the beautiful scenery! 👍 Good tip about the possible motion sickness. Nice to see Jeffrey again, and thank you for sharing this informative and relaxing bus ride, AK! 🤗
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
So nice that you have a friend in Taiwan to keep you company and to show you around.
Definitely!

Just to clarify that ping xi district is actually part of New Taipei City not Taipei City, so the organizer for the event is New Taipei City government not Taipei City government. You can actually see the logo for New Taipei City government on the right top corner of the posters.
True, but the Taipei Zoo is located within Taipei City limits, so they do have some input in the organization as well.

Tpass isn’t eligible on this special route. But the reason that this card doesn’t work is because it has negative balance in it. On a regular easycard with positive balance should be acceptable (even if it has t pass on it, it will just use the balance for fare).
Yup, I left that card with a negative balance. It would work if I had a zero or negative balance though.
Those roads are like St Thomas & BVI. Going up, up up into the mountains with twists, turns, narrow roads and very bumpy. Try riding in an open air bus, Lol!! Same roads different place. What I could tolerate too see (I closed my eyes at some points) was very pretty. Just like your ride in Teipei
it was an experience riding this bus!
These transportation videos are the best ,and the bus ride to the Lantern Featival was enjoyable and relaxing viewing the great scenery along the way 😎Thank you for sharing A K🙂👍!!!
You’re welcome!
Lantern Festival in Tainan going on today.
AK mentioned motion sickness.... watch the ride full screen at 2X speed and you'll feel like you're on an amusement park ride!! I hope you got to video the Lantern Festival at night!
That’s right!
great video it's a pity you couldn't get a seat up frontmind you i dont think there was any maybe luggage only maybe next time.
Thank you so much!
Why show only interior of the bus, all the time, not outside world???????????
Did you not see the outside world through the windows???
I focused my camera on the outside too.
This festival period should be called Lunar New Year because it's celebrated in Taiwan, Vietnam, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and etc, not only in China. In addition the Lunar calendar was invented by western people and you can check the fact historically.
There is much debate about this, and there is no direct translation from the holiday’s name in Chinese to English. Chinese New Year is correct since the origins of the holiday originated from Ancient China. There is a push to use Lunar New Year since it is thought promote more inclusivity of other cultures other than China, but this is technically incorrect since the holiday is based on the Luni-solar calendar and not the Lunar Calendar. Islam religions celebrate what is closer to a Lunar New Year.

The calendar many eastern Asian countries is using to celebrate Lunar New Year was invented by a Germany priest called Jean Adam Von Bell in 1645.
