Hey guys, I'm actually the actor in this video. We shot this about 9-10 years ago and all props should go to the director Patric Ullaeus. Man is a visionary genious.
From today on I can totally support their style on this record, because the old stuff is not gone and the new stuff is just new. Change is always good for a reason!
You know what, since I started listening to In Flames they have released six albums. And after EVERY SINGLE ONE of those releases I've met "real" In Flames fans who just stoped listening after the last album because the band is "not In Flames anymore". I still hear In Flames in every track of Siren Charms, and that's why they're such an inspiration. They change, develop and keep on making great music.
False affection took the best of me Deep inside, the absent mind Denial and hypocrisy All this the same To do this we part our ways My destination, my mission, my intuition so close I feel it changing me Suddenly I know, I have to let it go All that's been lost, all that's been won Now I feel right before me Intentions are pure, I'm out of reach My destination, my mission, my intuition So close I feel it changing me I might dare to believe And I have wings (I have) Nothing and everything at the same time Oh, a brighter sun Save me from my fears And darkest thought of her Carry me through times Through oblivion My destination, my mission, my intuition So close I feel it changing me I might dare to believe My destination, my mission, my intuition So close I feel it changing me I might dare to believe, cos now I know!
I'm a diehard IN FLAMES fan yet I absolutely love both new tracks. Anyone crying go listen to old In Flames and your problems will be solved. When you've grown as a person you'll understand this is evolution at its best.
I remember when this song came out, and everybody hated it, including me. However, after one and a half years I can finally say this is one of my favorite In Flames songs. It just really takes some time to get used to...
This is exactly how I feel about the entire Sense Of Purpose album. I've never connected to an album as deeply than with ASOP, thought it was shit at first. I think it was just the massive change in direction.
Derek Williams Exactly! Funny that you mention ASOP even, because I only started liking it recently when I gave it another try and really let myself sink into The Chosen Pessimist. Suddenly my least favorite In Flames album shot its way to the top five.
In Flames has been evolving since the day they started releasing albums. Their sound has changed from album to album, to say they're sellouts is ridiculous. The fact that this is a different sound for them should really not come as a surprise. I personally enjoy it and I'm excited to listen to the rest of the album.
Come on.. this is clearly a balad. And damn beautiful. I am sure the whole Siren's Charms will not be like this. In Flames has never made anything bad, and they will not now! Please guys, stop being childish in the comments. We love you In Flames! IN FLAMES WE TRUST!
I don't really understand why people want their favorite bands to do always the same things. A band that doesn't evolve is a dying band (Children of Bodom ?). Metallica have made some "different" albums, and just because their are different fans don't like them. It's the same here, they must evolve, because when they will be like 55, they will play, and not stop beacause they cannot play the things they played when they were 25. They are also getting older, and maybe their music tastes are changing, so as their music. That's it, I like this song very much, much more than Rusted Nail, because that's a sign of change.
Children Of Bodom's new album is actually quite good imo but I haven't been that much into them. Anyways I have enough albums of old in flames I don't need more.. I'm happy with a new sound.. and to be honest I haven't heard something close too this so its definitely something new :)
lol Children of Bodom dying ? :D lol :D every band must evolve but it isnt in flames song , after jesper in flames was dead ,like after petri norther was dead ,but children of bodom have same band members and that protects the band and evolves , If they had Jesper In Flames would be in flames lol :D About "dying children of bodom" Last album of children of bodom "Halo of Blood" is proof that they didnt die.
Its not that hard to understand. If you like death metal and dont like poprock im sure you can understand how you would want a band you like to keep playing music you like instead of music you dont like.
Yes, but, I don't think this is shitty music anyway. This is shitty In Flames. That's what I don't understand, we rate bands with what they have already made, not comparing to other music, not by them. If I want to listen Colony (which was the best for me), I listen Colony, I don't expect a future album. And yes; I think COB is "dying", because, after Follow the Reaper (this is one of my favorite albums of metal, so please don't think I'm just hater), they stayed stuck in the same style, so their music became less interesting. That's just my opinion. Sorry, bye.
I love all the hate on In Flames for this song. It's because people don't like change. Whenever something changes, they freak out & lash out against it like a bunch of babies & whine & complain until it either grows on them or they forget about it. I like this song, and I love In Flames. I understand that doing the same shit over & over & over again is just plain insanity, it will literally drive you insane. So don't be afraid to change it up every now & then. People who are loyal, and who appreciate change, and understand that bands don't play the same damn music forever, we will still be here listening. To those talking shit, You are not fans, and you need to grow up, seriously. People did the same thing to metallica. "Oh no James matured & got older & decided to write a sad album, we hate it because it's not hardcore enough, we better whine about it" Metallica still made it through, even with bitchy ass unappreciative fans like you.
It seems half of in flames fans only listen to metal and expect from in flames to make colony over and over again, probably the whiniest fan base out their. Never less i agree with you man their not fans at all
This comment is just stupid... The only thing you're right about is that there's no need to whine about it, but what the hell are you talking about not being a fan if you don't like their music? It's a taste in music, if you liked their old stuff, you don't HAVE to like their new stuff just because you love the band. Absolutely, there's no need to whine about it, just stop listening to the band, but I would probably also get upset if my favorite band stopped making the music that I loved, it still makes them fans of the old In Flames.
True, change causes a great deal of hate and fear in music but also in everything else. But i really don't think that it's the case here. If you are into music like inflames on Clayman or StYE i think it's very reasonable to not like this song. It's arguable if this is a good track or not, but you can't argue that this isn't different from their previous work.
I was in such dark place when discovered this song. Loved it, scafded to death and not knowing it..i bearly survived..totally lost but diigging deep into this song..still moves me❤
Great song and albo great new album! I love old In Flames but i think their music is growing and i'm loving it more and more. Great job guys!!! Those who dont understand it or dont like it, just simply dont listen it..
My Khaine???? the... ermm... Eldar Avatar of war? is that Khaine? the one with a magma sword?? IDK ,if so you only need to be a metalhead to be umm close to be REALLY AWESOME??
***** Heresy!! how you can be single? hahaha umm just by your last name?(I know sarcasm detected) don´t worry, Im supossed to be a goth or something like a bohemian vampire ala Blade but no one knows, my clients will not like a guy with mayan warrior skulls tattoed in his body, wearing only black clothing , who talks about avatars of war hahaha!
then listen to this and your other soft rock bullshit. But people want to hear the real in flames.I hate when ppl hear a bands last 1-2 albums and start talking like they are listening them for 10 years.
As a very old In Flames fan I gotta say few things. 1st if someone put this song up to me and asked what band am I listening to, I would recognise Anders voice but I wouldn't say this is In Flames, not even close. 2nd I was always and still am a supporter of this band and it's members, I always suppoted their new albums when everyone else were craping them and not cause I am groupie, it's because this guys are something else. They are different. They are masters of making something completly new and still able to make it sound awsome. Now that being said: we all gotta remember "The Chosen pessimist", "Evil in a closet", "Come clarity" etc. Those songs (which I realy like very much) were not the In Flames as we know of. They were strange but still good. I am pretty sure this guys will suprise us with some awsome songs that are comming on new album from which we will be able to reffer too. I myself don't realy acknowlege this song as anything that sounds like In Flames at all but let's not judge the whole album and the band before we here everything else.
Why so much hate on this song? The whole Siren Charms album is bashed as a "hipster flith" while it has some really great tracks. Nobody says anything about "Satellites and Astronauts" or "Come Clarity", everyone loves "The Chosen Pessimist", "Whoracle" is also not-so-heavy. So yeah something about the "old stuff"... these are just ballads... so is "Through Oblivion"... get your head our of your asses people, I ask you kindly.
I think this song gets brandished as "pop"-like because it's so vocal-concentrated And in Chosen Pessimist the vocals are changing throughout the song, this is very straight the same from start to end Or compare it with "The Attic" I personally think that it's a much more effective song, eventhough it's even slower/softer than Through Oblivion
@@daveataway1952 aye. That is a better song when compared. But this is a good song as well on it's own. I'd not skip it. (probably I'm just a simpleton when it comes to music).
I don't care what other people think, I'm still in love with In Flames and I always will be. I love this song and all their other songs. And ofc, Anders is sexy ;3
I absolutely LOVE the fact that I never know what to expect from In Flames. This song is a nice change of pace from the others I've heard. I LIKE it when a band mixes things up from one song to the next. It shows diversity and creativity. Can't wait for this release!
I'd say "Brace yourselves, the whining for going back to the roots is coming", but it's already here. The whiners are fast. I'm so glad In Flames don't listen to them.
Same, it would be a pity if they actually did listen to their inbred fans. I love this new direction In Flames is taking. I love all their albums just as much except for Lunar Strain that I find is their weakest album.
RetroDentan If they listened to those idiot fans then they'd be making The Jester race over 100 times. It's like those fans only want In Flames to be like Slayer, in that they make the same repetitive garbage over and over.
Sithu Aung What most of their old fans wants is the band they love back. Bands are supposed to change and test new stuff, but when a metal band leaves the metal genre for something more rock like people will complain. This is a band where growling used to be about half of the songs at least, now growling are gone. In flames are so off what they used to be that it would actually make sense to change the name of the band. Cause this is not the band it used to be.
Thats not necessarily true. I loved the change the made in SOAPF, (While still loving their old style) however, this is a tremendous change, at least IMO, and its not the same band i used to love. I still respect the band and their previous works, but this is quite a push for a different fanbase.
I find this song very uplifting. Having gone through some tough times in the past few years, this became something of an anthem for me as I saw myself through and pulled myself out of the hole. Thank you, In Flames. Your music means a lot to me as it's always seen me through both the good and bad.
In Flames really trying something new here, and I gotta say I like it. This song reminds me of their previous experimental songs, like Metaphor or Come Clarity. It's beautiful.
They're copy-pasting features from popular music that has nothing to do with them. If it works, fine, if not, well, they have to expect it. I love Come Clarity and Metaphor man.
My dad listen to this all time and I say please when you gonne listen to real music like black sabbath or slayer but I love this because im from sweden, sorry for my bad english
It's been 14 years since In Flames left the Melodic Death Metal genre and people are actually shocked over this new sound? Have you even been paying attention to their last 5 albums at all?
@5ar. I will never, ever understand so called “fans” that flock to a band whenever a new album comes out, only to give simple minded and pathetic insults, crying and whining that they aren’t “their” band anymore. It’s one of the most childish, ignorant, and insecure toxicities a “listener” can have. Have fun living in the past, never growing never caring for what else is out there. Pretty shitty way to live
I was shocked to see the dislikes, this is one of the best songs In Flames put out and I have listened to all their songs, I love their oldest songs too even the first 2 albums that pretentious heavy metal fans don't like. This is still one of the best songs they put out, such an emotional journey.
lol people fail to realize that this direction of the band already is in progress for over 10 years now. listen again to sense of purpose, come clarity and even reroute to remain. bands style o change. actually, only bad bands stay 100% true to there style and never change. srsly if my other favorite abnds ever stay the same, I say good bye to them. Change is constant! and after the over the top horrible first single from the upcoming album this ballad is actualy a relief for me.
yeah sure 2 things though: most people think though that songs like cloud connected are in flames staples, yet it is the first incarnation of this more slow and moody sound approach. and 2. people react as if this sound is so new and they are shocked bl bla. if you didnt realize that the music is over 10 years like that you are not qualified to judge it imho. and if you do relalize the music is that way for so long you should ask yourself what kind of problem you have rant about it on yt videos for over 10 years now... just get over that the band will never be like on day one. and if one lke this fact or not, the issue itself is a good thing!
Winterhe4rt I have really no problem, when bands are making a new sound. I loved every Ulver album and they changed their style completly (Hell it has nothing to do with metal or rock anymore). But the creativity is very important, and the new songs are boring. This has nothing to do with growing up. Its only a sell out. Plain and simple boring and bad. Sorry but this is my opinion. I dont buy this album. And you say that they change the style about 10 years ago. Yes thats right, but it was good back than and it has some unique sound. Sorry but this sounds like a amateur band in my city,
sure. you like it or not. i just nknow a lot of people who just rant about it because some criics say so or that they fail to realize that this is actually a natural progress. and one for a longer time now. i dont like the first release of the album at all. its actually a really bad song. i lkike this one a bit better but i am definetely listen to ALL songs of the album before i say something turned out bad. casue you know tht is what you shoudl do first.
You have a point to listen to the complete album first. Maybe it has some surprises like the last Opeth album. But for me its the first time that i will listen to the complete album before buying it. Spotify helps
I don't really understand the "fans" of In Flames. The band have done so much good! But STILL! Still you "fans" are not happy. I'm so glad In Flames is coming with new ideas every time. When I want do listen to the old In Flames I go back to their songs and when I want a clearer and newer sound I come to these songs. And guys never forget that they still play the old songs live!
Am I the only one here who prefers the new In Flames to the old one? for example i prefered reroute to remain and Sounds of The Playgroud Fading over the old Whoracle and Clayman albums -,-
I have a feeling that "Come Clarity" will always remain my favourite IF album...not massively fond of this new stuff (but I will wait until the album drops), but I loved SOAPF
Yeah. The oldest albums are great but not the best. My favorites still are Come Clarity, Soundtrack to Your Escape and Sounds of a Playground Fading. I think Rusted Nail was good for the most parts, this song is just okay, but not more than that. I hope there's even better songs in the rest of the album.
I'll tell you what, those old albums are incredible and brilliant but... Anders have improved a lot with his vocals and that's probably a pretty big deal. I don't really prefer this new sound or whatever, but the vocals are 20x better.
Don't be so idiotic. 'Fully connected'? If you like this garbage, fine - but don't you fucking dare claim that those of us who don't like it aren't true fans of the band. This has nothing of what In Flames used to be left in it. We have every damn right to dislike this and have our opinions heard.
So they have a song like this? I think it was a nice song, there is still a bunch of other songs that no one has heard yet from the new album. I don't understand why some of you people start "hating" on In Flames. Rusted Nail was a good song too. Stop being selfish and let In Flames do their thing. :)
I care to say rusted nail was bad too. I heard the Intro with the same enthusiasm as every In Flames fan who waits for a new dose. However then the main riff kicked in and all the energy was gone. Rusted nail had the intention of past In Flames, but it was like the sinewy leftovers from your steak. I really hope the rest of siren charms has more creativity than the two blunders they shot from this album so far. It makes me sad that In Flames drops in quality. I like changes, but I don't like rubbish...
I feel like it was just a bad choice to put a metal ballad out as their 2nd single. They know people are hoping for heavier stuff, yet they chose this as the representation of Siren Charms. Imagine if Free Fall and Metaphor were the singles in Reroute to Remain. My hopes are still up that Siren Charms have their own "Trigger" and "System" :)
I am listening this album in loop for 2 weeks and wow, simply my best album for a while. Very good "David Bowie"(!!) mood, a world to discover in music. Very creative, good variation of ballad et hard songs
Too all those that are hating on In Flames for this new album - try listening to whole thing first before judging a band for going in a different direction !! A solid album from beginning to end - I have no complaints about this album at all !!
Well done! My first vinyl of this band was Lunar Strain! I grow up with this band and i like their change. It is the same like in my life if you are getting older.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the sound of this album. Of course, In Flames is constantly changing (who doesn't?) and they said that this time around they wanted to appeal to a different kind of listener. Stop looking at this album through a lens of their previous albums. Give it a few listens with an open mind and without being influenced by all the blind hate surrounding this album. It actually sounds very very good.
No, i do have an open mind when it comes to music. But you cannot listen to their old albums and listen to this one then say this on is "very very good".
Xemozazk You are absolutly right. They changed a lot and Sikdomeshot a lot of bands do not change :D like Windir, Anaal Nathrakh, Imperium Dekadenz, Cannibal Corpse and many many more. I dont say they are shit and crap, but I like the previous albums more than thos newer ones.
It's nothing unique about this song soundwise, I agree there. But the atmosphere, the feel of it all is so much more than most pop songs. I don't think this is a masterpiece, but it's a cool song, and I dig it
Hell yeah! Their latest album seriously has some of the best and heaviest shit they ever wrote. While not representative of the full album, 'Owls Predict, Oracles Stand Guard' sounds like freakin' Gojira at times! Love it!
I love it! Stay open minded! Huge respect to you In Flames!!! You are not another boring band like Iron Maiden,AC/DC or Slayer due recording the same stuff over and over again.
Is this really In Flames, the band that I've come to love over albums like Whoracle, CLayman, Soundtrack to your Escape, Reroute to Remain? It's like some half-assed gay band took over their bodies and making second-tier music :( R.I.P In Flames
Well, I mentioned the ones I like the most.(Yes! I love Soundtrack to your Escape a lot) Different folks.. Also, yeah Lunar strain, subterranean and Jester Race were also great. JR was/is awesome, in fact.
What I think is weird is that In Flames while teasing the new Album asked on a lot of polls on Facebook what are the best albums for the fans Most of answers were of course Whoracle, Clayman, Colony or The Jester Race though apparently from what we can hear yet, this is a total counter. This doesn't have to do with the style In Flames used to provide, and by asking the opinion and teasing that album as one the greatest thing they did is the worst strategy ever, they will lost a huge fan base with this. Including me, I do love In Flames, the song might be quiet good even though it has nothing particular, it's not what I'm looking for in In Flames. They definitely lost me here, and I'm disappointed by their teasing that looked like it was having the direction of old songs, which is obviously not.
This is actually a very thought out comment. I agree with you. I believe these two new songs are pretty good actually, but it is just not In Flames to me. I got tickets for the next concert in sweden, but after that my anticipation and/or hope for any more In Flames is just not going to be there anymore.
I have to say that at first I was shocked, but after giving it some time I've really started to like the new album. Seeing the band live yesterday, I can also say the new material works even better live. Bold move, but good job!
Saddly there are old die hard fans that hates In Flames more different sound. As an fan of majority of their albums does I love Sirens charms and this song
Wow ... the first song that I can not really be called "good" (its ok, but not good or awesome like usually...) I really love all songs of in flames and they are my favorite band for 15 years!, but ... this blows me away. (in a bad way) I really hope this is just a single slow song (what they had been in almost every album) and the rest is the good old in flames i've been so much love in each album. to lose this wonderful band would break my heart.... I will not give up as long as I do not know how the album itself is (or at least the next 3 albums) In Flames we Trust!
In Flames fan for 20 years and I like everything they do in flames for life they are the one of the reasons that you have soil work trivium killswitch engaged etc
Everybody is raging and bitching about the song and I'm just sitting here listening to it and accepting the direction they took with it and not going ape shit because it's not another colony. Things change, deal with it. If you don't like it that doesn't mean that it sucks. It means you don't like it and that's it.
I don't know why people are saying that they "lost their sound." It's different now, granted, but if I were to hear this on the radio without ever hearing it before I would immediately say "This is In Flames!" Great song, great band. There have been some artists I like that have taken a new direction in music that I didn't like, and I had to resist complaining, but In Flames is not one of those artists.
However as I'm a massive fan, I'm not doubting your abilities or your new album. I'm sure this song will grow on me soon enough. Siren Charms is going to kick ass!
I'm sorry but this is shocking. I hate how they went from being the Melodeath masters and pioneers to sounding like a radio band. This is unbelievably not metal at all. I really dislike having to be negative but it's just honesty. I fucking love you guys but this is not you.
Because everything besides metal music is shit right? Oh wait, that's right, metal wouldn't exist without any of the other music that metal took influence from in the first place. GG Dillhole Rose.
Lemmy Koopa No, its that in order to like metal music, you're usually a metalhead, and metalheads want metal music from their metal bands. In Flames used to make metal, they've hyped about growling and metal, now they make pop. Because death metal doesnt sound as appealing to the Sony entertainment music audience
I really disliked this song when i first heard it a few days ago. It really lacks the "death metal" in the "melodic death metal" equation. However, it has begun to grow on me a bit. I find myself coming back a few times every day to give it a listen and it does have the slightly depressed feel that is telltale for so much of In Flames' music. I kind of like it now to be honest. I'd still wish that In Flames would get back into death metal. If this song had come from a band that didn't have the musical history of In Flames i might be more accepting of it.
I'm a little bit agree with you. But, I think: "WTF, I don't want to headbang listening this song!". I can't find the "In Flames groove style". Last IF concert I went, in 2010, I yawned for 1:30 hour.
in all fairness Anders has been screaming his lungs out and touring more than most bands of "InFlames" statue for over 20 years, hes just taking a breather with his broken esophagus
Okay. I don't hate this song. I kinda like it. But seriously. In Flames is certainly taking a huge step aside from what they used to be and the style they had. They sound so mainstream now. And yet even when sounding mainstream Anders manages to get a hipster look. Seriously Anders. You were one of the few white persons I knew that nailed the dreads haircut. At least you can't change the previous work you've done. And I'm glad for that. Because that was gold. From the Jester Race to A Sense Of Purpose. it has been an epic journey. Guess I'll stick to Soilwork for now. Good luck onward In Flames. You might need it. Or who knows, it might work well.
Yeah he had the most awesome dreads ever, I don't understand why he all of a sudden decided to go for the hipster look instead. Can't believe that the frontman of In Flames now looks like he's in some indie/alternative rock outfit, and not Swedish Gothenburg metal. It just doesn't feel right. Sadly, I guess his new look reflects the new direction of the band.
stevepwn Sounds had some gems on there. My channel even has a vid using a song from it. Instrumentally sounds was fuckin awesome. Anders has said he's not even really a big fan of metal. and with Jesper leaving, there was a shift in guitar styles. Honestly, change the name of the band. It isn't a shadow of what it once was
Seriously people, its getting boring, we've all heard that you dont like the new sound and that you prefer the old version of In Flames. You can't compare In Flames to any other band out there, their unique sound is what makes them so good and they still got that. In 10 years when you listen back you would say that this (older In Flames) was better. The music is evolving and I think they are just as awesome as they have always been. So let me sum this up. - Enjoy their music cause its some great piece of work. - Stop complaining, their old albums still does exist so go and listen to that if you prefer it. - And last, ITS IN FLAMES?! I'd support these guys even if they were starting to do some sort of rap, so should you. And In Flames, this is a great song! Been listening to it over and over again and the song is totally stuck in my head! Lovely stuff right here.
Thomas Ross If by regular guy you mean almost hysterically cliché hipster. Sorry, but it's the first thing most people are going to think when they see this video. It's like he looked up 'How to dress hipster' on google before choosing this wardrobe. I mean, I don't even care what he looks like he can do what he wants, but claiming that it's not hipster is just silly.
The more I listen to this song the more spellbound I get! The feel of the song is so melancholic! Cant wait to see them live in Oslo, Norway in 2 months! _\m/
Vocals are clear and fine, melody is pretty simple, guitar is non-existant during verses. Quite boring honestly. They did better creating a quasi-ballad like this with 'Evil In A Closet', which is one of my favourite songs of In Flames. It's obviously designed to be aired on radio and it's fine it's mediocre as long as 'Siren Charms' won't be kept as whole in this style. 'Rusted Nail' wasn't the best either, but I still enjoyed it, so I have hopes for at least a good album.
Николай Яснов Can't deny that, but try listening to songs like already mentioned 'Evil In A Closet', 'Goliaths Disarm Their Davids', 'Bullet Ride', 'My Sweet Shadow' or if I'm digging too deep even 'Liberation'. Each and every of those songs has more diverse melodic line than 'Through Oblivion' and are imo better. I'm not bashing direction In Flames are going with their shift from death-melodic into melodic-death, but this particular piece isn't quite up to standarts even in their current style :)
Absolutely love the new style, despite having been a fan since the very early albums. People need to understand creativity and "selling out" are not the same thing.
Hey guys, I'm actually the actor in this video. We shot this about 9-10 years ago and all props should go to the director Patric Ullaeus. Man is a visionary genious.
Hey Andreas cheers from Barcelona.
Amazing work... The message just tremendous. Thank you

Super!
Salutations my brother, good work
From today on I can totally support their style on this record, because the old stuff is not gone and the new stuff is just new.
They change, develop and keep on making great music.
my god this song is FIREEEE I CAN LISTEN ALL DAY
False affection took the best of me
Deep inside, the absent mind
Denial and hypocrisy
All this the same
To do this we part our ways
My destination, my mission, my intuition
so close I feel it changing me
Suddenly I know, I have to let it go
All that's been lost, all that's been won
Now I feel right before me
Intentions are pure, I'm out of reach
My destination, my mission, my intuition
So close I feel it changing me
I might dare to believe
And I have wings (I have)
Nothing and everything at the same time
Oh, a brighter sun
Save me from my fears
And darkest thought of her
Carry me through times
Through oblivion
My destination, my mission, my intuition
So close I feel it changing me
I might dare to believe
My destination, my mission, my intuition
So close I feel it changing me
I might dare to believe, cos now I know!
Derek Williams
Exactly! Funny that you mention ASOP even, because I only started liking it recently when I gave it another try and really let myself sink into The Chosen Pessimist. Suddenly my least favorite In Flames album shot its way to the top five.
+Selbi Inkille It's one of those albums that creeps up on you slowly then kills you brutally. Lol
"Evil In A Closet" is a true ballad, not this shit whithout inspiration.
devilduc got that right mate!
devilduc
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! F'N THANK YOU!!!
Jeesus Christ, is it that hard to understand?!
devilduc okay, so there is only one ballad, and all ballads should sound like that... I understand now... you're an idiot.
In Flames has done bad songs. I have 2 examples:
Rusted Nail
Through Oblivion.
Rest in Peace In Flames.
This song is just beautiful. Patric Ullaeus has also really stepped up his game with this video, fits perfectly!
That's it, I like this song very much, much more than Rusted Nail, because that's a sign of change.
children of bodom is dying band and in flames opposite? no need to read more.
:D lol :D every band must evolve but it isnt in flames song , after jesper in flames was dead ,like after petri norther was dead ,but children of bodom have same band members and that protects the band and evolves , If they had Jesper In Flames would be in flames lol :D
About "dying children of bodom" Last album of children of bodom "Halo of Blood" is proof that they didnt die.
"Oh no James matured & got older & decided to write a sad album, we hate it because it's not hardcore enough, we better whine about it"
Metallica still made it through, even with bitchy ass unappreciative fans like you.
"people who are loyal", lol'd at this one.
And also, if people didn't "whine" and complain, how would a band know if they are moving in the right direction?
I was in such dark place when discovered this song. Loved it, scafded to death and not knowing it..i bearly survived..totally lost but diigging deep into this song..still moves me❤
Great song and albo great new album!
I love old In Flames but i think their music is growing and i'm loving it more and more. Great job guys!!!
Those who dont understand it or dont like it, just simply dont listen it..
My Khaine, this song is amazing! it has such a unique feel to it... I personally do like where In Flames is going.
My Khaine???? the... ermm... Eldar Avatar of war? is that Khaine? the one with a magma sword?? IDK ,if so you only need to be a metalhead to be umm close to be REALLY AWESOME??
Well, I do mean Kaela Mensha Khaine - what other name is left to exclaim? Cegorach? Ain't that mad yet - nope!
I have no partner anymore... As of very recently. And how the hell did you know I'm Latin? That's supposed to be a secret.
I think this song gets brandished as "pop"-like because it's so vocal-concentrated
And in Chosen Pessimist the vocals are changing throughout the song, this is very straight the same from start to end
Or compare it with "The Attic"
I personally think that it's a much more effective song, eventhough it's even slower/softer than Through Oblivion
@@daveataway1952 aye. That is a better song when compared. But this is a good song as well on it's own. I'd not skip it. (probably I'm just a simpleton when it comes to music).
What an awesome Video and an amazing modern Song. I will play it in my Radio. In Flames a great Band ever.
I don't care what other people think, I'm still in love with In Flames and I always will be. I love this song and all their other songs. And ofc, Anders is sexy ;3
Exactement ;) certains sont coincer ! Bravo Anders et In Flames !
Fabsters Ja natuurlijk ga in het Frans antwoorden stomme idioot
freedomcall76 Ja of in het Nederlands
MforceArts Bedankt voor het uitleggen van de grap...
RetroDentan
you're damn right, lunar strain is not a good album...bad recording, no epic songs. simply boring. the best album is reroute to remain :)
This is nowhere near come clarity or metaphor, it sucks big time
Opinions man, they are allowed be different.
LethalLemonade
Objectively, this is nothing like Come Clarity or Metaphor. You happy?
They're copy-pasting features from popular music that has nothing to do with them. If it works, fine, if not, well, they have to expect it. I love Come Clarity and Metaphor man.
My dad listen to this all time and I say please when you gonne listen to real music like black sabbath or slayer but I love this because im from sweden, sorry for my bad english
It's been 14 years since In Flames left the Melodic Death Metal genre and people are actually shocked over this new sound? Have you even been paying attention to their last 5 albums at all?
No, because they don't listen to them.
Boy did this age like milk seeing the new album "Forgone" bringing the true In Flames sound back.
This song just isn't long enough for me! I love it!
Summary of comment section: People who can't deal with slow music.
Slow boring pop is just not something people expect from In Flames.
There are bands for that, you know, and they do their specialty better.
danvolodar Don't you want music to challenge you? This wasn't what I would expect from a In Flames song and that's exciting to me.
well said friend.
BackaddGaming, nah, if I wanted music to challenge me, I'd listen to Schnittke.
More like people who can't deal with how shit In Flames have become.
very nice song
What a great and beautiful song. A true masterpiece. Long live In Flames.
I was shocked to see the dislikes, this is one of the best songs In Flames put out and I have listened to all their songs, I love their oldest songs too even the first 2 albums that pretentious heavy metal fans don't like. This is still one of the best songs they put out, such an emotional journey.
fucking brilliant tune and the lyrics are awesome!! why so much hate for it?? I FUCKING LOVE IT !!! love these guys, old tracks and new! x
This song is absolutely perfect!
lol people fail to realize that this direction of the band already is in progress for over 10 years now. listen again to sense of purpose, come clarity and even reroute to remain.
bands style o change. actually, only bad bands stay 100% true to there style and never change. srsly if my other favorite abnds ever stay the same, I say good bye to them.
Change is constant!
and after the over the top horrible first single from the upcoming album this ballad is actualy a relief for me.
Remember theres two kinds of change. Change for the better and...well...stuff like this.
yeah sure 2 things though:
most people think though that songs like cloud connected are in flames staples, yet it is the first incarnation of this more slow and moody sound approach. and 2. people react as if this sound is so new and they are shocked bl bla. if you didnt realize that the music is over 10 years like that you are not qualified to judge it imho. and if you do relalize the music is that way for so long you should ask yourself what kind of problem you have rant about it on yt videos for over 10 years now... just get over that the band will never be like on day one. and if one lke this fact or not, the issue itself is a good thing!
Am I the only one here who prefers the new In Flames to the old one? for example i prefered reroute to remain and Sounds of The Playgroud Fading over the old Whoracle and Clayman albums -,-
Same here :D
I have a feeling that "Come Clarity" will always remain my favourite IF album...not massively fond of this new stuff (but I will wait until the album drops), but I loved SOAPF
Yeah. The oldest albums are great but not the best. My favorites still are Come Clarity, Soundtrack to Your Escape and Sounds of a Playground Fading. I think Rusted Nail was good for the most parts, this song is just okay, but not more than that. I hope there's even better songs in the rest of the album.
See, I preferred this song to Rusted Nail, actually...I dunno, maybe I'm the only one
I'll tell you what, those old albums are incredible and brilliant but... Anders have improved a lot with his vocals and that's probably a pretty big deal. I don't really prefer this new sound or whatever, but the vocals are 20x better.
only if you are fully connected with this band you can appreciate this album.. In flames ( and change) we trust !!
Don't be so idiotic. 'Fully connected'? If you like this garbage, fine - but don't you fucking dare claim that those of us who don't like it aren't true fans of the band. This has nothing of what In Flames used to be left in it. We have every damn right to dislike this and have our opinions heard.
it's imposible to have the same style after all those years...if they where something is wrong !
UnnamedThe Well, some may not like it, but the good thing about life is that every individual is unique and has different taste in music. ;)
***** Well excuse me for having my own opinion then! :)
I am listening this album in loop for 2 weeks and wow, simply my best album for a while. Very good "David Bowie"(!!) mood, a world to discover in music. Very creative, good variation of ballad et hard songs
This is not the same In Flames it was before, but I like this stuff.
In Flames We Trust. One of those bands that never fails. I listen to them from the first album and their music always is at the highest level.
One of the best In Flames Songs! Haters gonna hate! In flames are brilliant :D
Too all those that are hating on In Flames for this new album - try listening to whole thing first before judging a band for going in a different direction !! A solid album from beginning to end - I have no complaints about this album at all !!
They are genius and they are pioneers, still trying to give something new and brilliant. Love the song \m/
Well done! My first vinyl of this band was Lunar Strain! I grow up with this band and i like their change. It is the same like in my life if you are getting older.
Chorus is GREAT... In Flames we trust!
This is a beautiful piece. I really appreciate the rhythm and pace of this Tune!
Love, Love, love In Flames!! Hoping to see them and All That Remains in March in Spokane!!
I love the old In Flames and by god I like the new In Flames as well!
The best music video I have ever seen. Really.
It's nothing unique about this song soundwise, I agree there. But the atmosphere, the feel of it all is so much more than most pop songs. I don't think this is a masterpiece, but it's a cool song, and I dig it
"And i have wings...I have..." People can hate it but, I will always be a fan.
Well, at least Soilwork still know how to bring the metal.
\m/
Hell yeah! Their latest album seriously has some of the best and heaviest shit they ever wrote. While not representative of the full album, 'Owls Predict, Oracles Stand Guard' sounds like freakin' Gojira at times! Love it!
SiGhast Agreed. It's a spectacular album and one of their best.
Agreed.
Soilwork & Darkane are at their peak right now imo, Waiting for The Haunted's exit wounds..
It's like some half-assed gay band took over their bodies and making second-tier music :(
R.I.P In Flames
Whoracle, Clayman, Soundtrack to your Escape, Reroute to Remain?
Lunar Strain, Subterranean, Jester Race !
Dragos Udrea agreed !
Well, I mentioned the ones I like the most.(Yes! I love Soundtrack to your Escape a lot) Different folks.. Also, yeah Lunar strain, subterranean and Jester Race were also great. JR was/is awesome, in fact.
I have nothing and everything at the same time
Words that hit so hard
What I think is weird is that In Flames while teasing the new Album asked on a lot of polls on Facebook what are the best albums for the fans
Most of answers were of course Whoracle, Clayman, Colony or The Jester Race though apparently from what we can hear yet, this is a total counter. They definitely lost me here, and I'm disappointed by their teasing that looked like it was having the direction of old songs, which is obviously not.
exactly !
In Flames.. do you remember 'Behind Space'??? I do..
That song freaking slaps, the vocals are absolutely beautiful. There are seriously people hating it?!
Saddly there are old die hard fans that hates In Flames more different sound.
As an fan of majority of their albums does I love Sirens charms and this song
Best Calvin Klein ad ever
Love this:) Cant wait for the new album!
i think this band has never been the same since Jesper's departure...
I'm sure this direction is why he left to being with. He's in another melodeth band now called Dimension Zero.
We love these guys.
Wow ...
the first song that I can not really be called "good" (its ok, but not good or awesome like usually...)
I really love all songs of in flames and they are my favorite band for 15 years!, but ... this blows me away. (in a bad way)
I really hope this is just a single slow song (what they had been in almost every album) and the rest is the good old in flames i've been so much love in each album. to lose this wonderful band would break my heart....
I will not give up as long as I do not know how the album itself is (or at least the next 3 albums)
In Flames we Trust!
In Flames fan for 20 years and I like everything they do in flames for life they are the one of the reasons that you have soil work trivium killswitch engaged etc
To the haters im glad they sound like this and its the reason why i bought the album so they must be doing something right.
You like shitty nu metal. Congratulations.
Dumbass this isn't nu metal
Donovan Kaiver Whatever it is, it's just as lame as nu metal then.
wayne crookes Yeah once this was the best melodic death band on earth. Now ist Sounds just like thousend other bands and it sells.
CannibalCorpse909 why are you commenting on this video then?
The message of the video is one I relate to completely, feeling hopeless and lost, then finding the answers from heaven.
Everybody is raging and bitching about the song and I'm just sitting here listening to it and accepting the direction they took with it and not going ape shit because it's not another colony.
Things change, deal with it. If you don't like it that doesn't mean that it sucks. It means you don't like it and that's it.
stfu, not everyone rage and bitch about this, many of us actually like this song.
#YoureNotSpecial
I wasn't a huge fan of this at the start but it's really got to me. Really enjoying the way In Flames have gone with their music. Keep it up!
Is this pop?
Nah, Baby and Wrecking Ball is pop.
All hope is lost :(, times´ve changed I guess
Sam Torruellas
Couldn't have said it better.
Josh Steeves I guess the objective in life is to make money and shitty music than, IF and Nickleback look like they're doing just fine
idaten1 Thank you
they grew a lot older, I love this new mature sound. Great work. They become trully legendary.
I feel sorry for people not finding this good. How close-minded can one be?
With how versatile in flames is becoming, I will soon be able to listen to them solely for every single mood I have hahaha
anders cant scream anymore his voice is shot thats why they went light
and what makes you saying that ?
its obvious
stevepwn I went to see them live only a few days ago and man oh man you're totally wrong ;) His scream still is absolute insanity.
Freaking goose bumps bro! Powerfull
Where's the power ... the energy ... where are THE FLAMES???
Your new album was AWESOME!!! Well done guys!
Or who knows, it might work well.
jester race to come clarity. ASOP was trash
Lovely stuff right here.
har jocke berg producerat på låten eller ?
agoodnameforaname "Producerat på låten"? Lol
The most beatiful song on the new album excellent work and music. I listen In Flames for a long time and this amazig album for me :)
anders looks like a hipster
Indeed. That's probably the only detail that I don't like about this music video.
Yes. Terrible
👎
He used to be such a badass... now is soo shit!
no he looks like a pretty regular guy.
_\m/
All this hating... Seems that people forgot metaphor, Dawn of a new day, etc...
Different song and I like it, I like when they try different stuffs.
Once I hated Sirens Charms now I love it!
In Flames makes many masterpieces!
What the fuck is this? Jesper....where are your fucking riffs? I am very sad, cause i love this band.
Jesper hasn't been in the band since 2010.
Are sure, you love in flames? lol
***** There is a reason for that lol.
Look up: The Resistance.
otavio augusto ribeiro oliveira dude,i am 34,and i saw them when i was 16 ;-) ....i love In flames, the real In flames, the Metal band ahahah.
I really like this one. Really looking forward to the new album
I don't care about genres, this song is awesome!
You must be a hardcore Jesterhead, couldn't even get the song title right. It's RUSTED Nail.
Jonas Bye Hah thx for pointing that out. I've only listened to it a few times, didn't really have time to sink in, corrected ;)
Such a beautiful song
nej nej nej, tyvärr alltså :((
Absolutely love the new style, despite having been a fan since the very early albums. People need to understand creativity and "selling out" are not the same thing.
