Climate change at Highgate Cemetery

  • Highgate Cemetery is well known for the famous - like Karl Marx and George Michael - who lie there. But the romantic decay with which this site has become synonymous is now in danger of overtaking it due to climate change.
    Today, graves have been badly damaged by trees and debris.

    I would absolutely love to restore that sacred place. Hopefully someone far more wealthy and young will take this on.

    What should this society do first in these times of crisis? Repair the cracks on a tombstone or produce vaccines and food? Because I'm afraid the government doesn't have money for everything...

    Whilst I understand the need for Horticultural care in this Cemetery, please don't "sanitise " it for the sake of "improvement " as it would obliterate the whole character and environment of this much loved garden of remembrance.

    How much water did londoners waste in the name of hygiene and London is a big metropolis and huge industrial base so don't blame climate the cause lies in your hands
