My mom adopted a stray kitten when I was a year old. Named him Friday due to the day he was found (not her most impressive idea).
He was my brother, I loved him so much.
At age 14, he got ill. One day he left and never came back, I know he hid himself so I'd never find his body.
More than 10 years passed and I'm still crying writing this. That kid is gonna have the best sibling.

When my daughter was three I walked into her room and she and our Siamese cat were looking at books together. All of the books were about cats. My friend said “let me tell you about your people”, I wish these two a happy life together.

Crushed me about a months ago when I had to euthanize my almost 15 year old cat who I had for 12 years. I can't remember crying that much, feeling so powerless
Absolutely heart broken ,I had my chubba wubba orange mixed with white cat named ""Cartman "" after the character of the cartoon South Park and he was with me 18 long years, he was the most special cat I've ever had in my life, he was a chubby spoiled brat just like Cartman on south Park "" but acted like a dog would sniff and investigate everyone and he was my NEIGHBORHOODS mascot, everyone loved Cartman and he loved everyone else, til one year ago at the age of 18 years ago I sadly had to put him down, about 25 of my friends and neighbors attended his "Funeral " basically we all went in the vet room I held my arms around him in the warm TOWEL n wouldn't let go, as the IV was going in I just held him and whispered "I love you babyboy " as Leanne Rimes was singing amazing grace in the background on my phone all 25 people were crying. It was a very sad sad day for everyone. After a year went by i adopted a pure white 2 lb. Kitten named "Casper" and i couldn't love him more, hes more of a baby than Cartman, Cartman was a mature huge cat spoiled brat cat that acted like a dog n loved everyone but my new Snow Bengal kitten even today at 1 to is still the baby and acts like it...

I grew up with the same cat from the age of 5 to 23. He died while I was out of state, finishing college. He was a great cat and a good friend. Now I'm 46, and I still think about him from time to time.
Same happened with me; I got her for my birthday when I was 5, and when I was 27 and out of state she left us. It was a really hard day, knowing she was mine for 22 years and I never got to see her again to say goodbye.
When I was pregnant , several people said you will get rid of your cats , you will see what your priorities are . they were talking to the wrong person . My child grew up with small dogs and cats , learned how to pet gently , cried with me when cancer or kidney failure forced me to euthanize them , learned what responsible pet guardians do , including spay and neuter , animals are not to be gotten rid of , I commit to the life of the pet .

My old friend left her 3 cats in a forest! A damn forest. She said the cat hair was bugging her, and she had just had her kid. I was so mad, still can't believe she let those cats fend for themselves out there.
I hate when i see people say they need to re-home pets because of work, not enough time, have a new baby or the i got i puppy for my kids they just aren't ready for a puppy.

Both Absolutely Adorable! The Baby is So Gentle with Her Feline Companion.
This is how our cat is with our daughters. I went to a shelter visiting a potential dog for our dog loving family, and when we visited the cats on our way out, 1 cat jumped into my arms and snuggled her head into my neck. 😍😭 I turned to my husband and said, "oh no, I think we're getting a cat!" My heart melted with her first nuzzle. Brought her home and she has never hissed or hurt us intentionally, she doesn't make messes, and she puts up with my youngest still learning how gentle to be with her. It's unbelievable, we love our Sky, the perfect fit for our family.
Aww so sweet. Its true they chose us not the other way around. We ended up with one from the kitty shelter that chose us as well. One wrapped his two front legs around my neck and hugged me. Ted is the best. He already had his name so we didn't change it. He came at a time when I was sad and lonely after the passing of my 17 yr old shih tzu. He has been like a baby to me, snuggling and laying in my lap sideways just like am infant. Head in the crook of my arm or on my chest. Reaching up and placing his paw on my face and giving kisses. He's over the top affectionate. Even reaches to be picked up at times just like a kid. I think, he thinks, he's my kid not my cat lol. And then there's the chatter.. oh this boy talks so much. So many different meows and sounds and songs. He is entertaining. Such a change from my little dog because she went deaf and blind in the end and stop barking. So we lived in silence. God knew just what we needed with talking Ted.

My wife had one walking toward her as well. Saw the look in her eyes and well every married man knows there are times you may as well give in and there is not point in agrue about it as you will lose anyway. So I said, well we are having another kitten. But well I love that little critter anyway and our older cat adopted her as hes surrugate dad the say day. I saw him holding her the next day while they where sleeping. Sometimes destiny gives you an addon to your family :)

My guess here is that both kitty and little hooman see each other as siblings... which in a way they are ❤. I really want to express my respect for the mom for having the trust and intuition to know it was going to be safe for both of them to interact so closely at such a young age. This little baby is developing real empathy and loving kindness, and kitty is getting such a wonderful home to grow up in. Im grateful to be reminded of how much good and positively actually exists in the world, despite it not seeming so sometimes.

That’s what happened with me! I was extremely scared of dogs, so my dad got a lab puppy (I was in middle school). Almost 15 years later, I’m no longer so scared (still cautious around big unknown dogs), and the dog and I are best friends!

As to cats, if you feed them with quality food (they one they sell in specialized stores, not the garbage in supermarkets) they can reach 20 years of life. Coincidentally, there's one in the apartment next door to mine.

I was privileged to have a cat as my sibling. Dressing him up in dresses and diapers, I would pretend he was my baby and push him around in a stroller. He’d send me off to school and be waiting in the afternoon when the bus would drop me off. I don't think that I've ever cried so hard as the day he died. His name was Tibby O'Brien, and I love him to this day.
Update: I can't believe how many likes and replies I received. It made me happy to know that this many people cared about my story growing up with Tibby. The only problem with Tibby was that he left me too soon. It's the only problem we have with our friends; their lifespans are too short. G

Having a pet along with your child is an exquisite idea. Pets help with allergies, getting children used to animals from an early age, and a constant friend and companion! the love these two share is beautiful :)
Sadly, I see people dump their pets at the shelter to make way for a baby. It’s so sad that there are some terrible people out there.
This happened to me too! While i understand it might have been an isolated case, it's still a miracle. I was born with chronic asthma but have always been in love with cats. My dad was also allergic. Once I'm old enough, i begged my parents to let me keep pet cats and miraculously, my asthma waned off eventually! My dad's allergies also reduced A LOT. He couldn't stand cats back then but now he has a soft spot for them
That is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. That kitten and that baby are closer to God than the rest of us are. New light pure love. That orange little baby tiger feels so connected to that infant. They have so much in common. I love both of them. Thank you so much for bringing that beautiful kitten into your lives. You're very lucky to have this environment.
Our cats were inseparable when our kids were little. We’d catch them sleeping in our daughters crib by her feet. We check on her and our cat would look at us like “she fine homan go to bed, I got this!” They were besties for 15yrs!

I agree. I've read a lot of comments about the baby might catch a disease from the cat or the cat might not like the baby and hurt the child. Same things with dogs. I grew up with cats and dogs and right now I have two cats, Max and Phoenix, who tolerate with each other. Don't want it any other way.

Well.. I agree when it comes to the beneficial part, but because of psychological reasons. On the other hand toxoplasmosis isn't imagination as well as other parasites. Especially with a *stray*animal it's quite risky.

This video warms my heart. Totally reminds me of my daughter's feline BFF. They were also joined at the hip from a very early age. Her first word, referring to him, was "tat." It was a sad day when it came time for him to be euthanized. She showed a lot of courage and maturity when, instead of staying home, she elected to come with me to the vet's office and hold him in her lap when he breathed his last breath. I buried him beneath her bedroom window. He left a cat-shaped hole in our hearts. 😺💔😢

Wup. That’s me & my Willow. She’s like her own little woman. I left her natural. She has all the babies she wants across the year. I encourage her to spend a lot of time outside. If she wants to sleep out I let her. She hunts all the time. I feed her raw food often. The way I see it- she’s my companion but that doesn’t give me the right to turn her into my emotional slave, which is not allowing a cat to live as a cat. She has her own life.

I'm 66 year old, old man and I live alone. I have a daughter, 40, that lives in another state and doesn't talk to me anymore.

I used to have a bond like that with my childhood cat when I was a kid he let me pick him up, he would give me cuddles and kisses, every night he would sleep with me in my bed we would watch tv together.
But when I was 8 my whole world shattered, when I got back from vacation we couldn’t find him everywhere even out in the streets, 50 minutes later I heard a knock on the door it was my neighbour he showed me my cats collar and I said “what did you do to him”
The neighbour replied to me saying he hit him by accident he was lying on the road and didn’t see him.
I broke down crying even after burying him in my backyard after he was ashes I couldn’t stop crying even at night.
I just want to say to the mother and her family Thank you , thank you , thank you , thank you from the bottom of my heart for rescuing this super cute and beautiful, loving , affection, kind and good kitten with a great loving and good soul , and for giving him a forever safe and a loving home, parents and sister and a sister/brother cat . It’s just makes me so happy to see the kitten with his sister playing any Im really glad he has another tuxedo cat , for the special social needs cats can only give to each other . You are all amazing , thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was 'guarded' as a baby by our big fluffy persian cat - who'd always be on my pram when we were out for a walk. So glad I grew up (many years ago!) with the love of animals. Thanks Mum!
With tears in my eyes because the feed back is so heart warming. That baby is one of a kind. I raised two baby kittens since they were three days old, I could not give them up. They are now one year old. I'm 72 and have all my life had cats.

It's a wonderful relationship, the cat is gentle as you can possibly want towards the baby, and the baby is just as gentle to the cat. It's like the cat has decided to watch out for his human sister. Although the same age, the cat is very very mature of the two, and at least for right now smarter.
Yeah, the cat responded to the word, "No" but the baby did not. Cute partners in crime!

When our daughter was born - 25 years ago - we had 2 female cats, Pupuce and Vanille.
Vanille was a cat-dog, she brought back all the toys that we threw at her, she vocalized constantly, she drooled, she came on us but never let anyone caught her in arms and immobilized.
Our daughter Charlotte was the only person on earth that Vanille tolerated everything, including letting herself go. The patience and tolerance of this magnificent tortoiseshell cat made of her my favorite cat among all those I had. I say it in a low voice, my little cute cat Cléo is who also drool as a Saint-Bernard when I pet her is watching me...
That kitten knows she is another baby kitten. SO gentle and sweet ❤
