real reason it’s hard to make friends here have little to do with “competitive nature of the city”, it’s due to (1) many people that move here to live temporarily such as students or workers on permit, and (2) for whatever reason people here are often still close with people they went to high school or elementary school with, hence they become lazy to meet new people
Curious to hear more about the making friends thing. I've had multiple friends who have moved to Vancouver (I live in Alberta) who have said a similar thing. I am considering moving soon (trying to land an internship as I'm about to graduate) and I'm hoping to make sure I can participate in activities and other events that can keep my social life active. Any tips specifically?
