Dreamer is my favourite fragrance. My second favourite is Bvlgari Pour Homme. I have tested and owned a lot of stuff, but haven't found anything like Dreamer. As I watched your excellent review, I thought you were trying to find the best words to describe it. You did, but let me add a couple more: it's 'dreamy.' It's refined, its scent is 'airy' but powerful, really long lasting. The drydown smells really natural, nothing synthetic there. It's pure engineering: it's great for cold or hot weather, but here comes the amazing fact: it 'identifies' the temperature and reacts according to it. Masterpiece. Great review Chris!
Great review! A fragerance that somehow slipped by me in the 90’s and now I’m going to get it! Thanks to you - Peace (ps JSP Stash is a beast - awesome)
I still wear this cologne because you are buying 4 colognes into one... it has a little bit of a mixture (layering jpg le male, Dolce & gabana pour homme and cigars cologne and sometimes boss bottled by hugo boss) There you go.... you'll have The dreamer by versace... I simply love this cologne. Can't live without it.... Down here in Brazil (midwest - goiania) when I wear it I just get compliments and people say "goddamn it" what magical cologne is that? I know it is a little bit different from the 96 batch. But still there! love it too much.
I have a strange love affair with this fragrance..at first spray everything tells me I'm going to hate it but give it a few minutes and thats when the magic starts..
Gotta search for a special occasion when you wear this and then return to it from time to time. I am being transported back to fall of 1997 when I wear this.....
I was a doubter until it came on sale. I didn't like the initial test on the test strip. It's a whole other thing on the skin. Once it's on the skin it's very adult and mature fragrance. Great pick up.
For once, I've actually heard of a fragrance before you have reviewed, haha. I've still never smelled it, but it sounds pretty great. The bottle design alone makes me want to grab one for my collection; it's beautiful! Awesome shirt too, Chris - you are the king of cool!
The Dreamer was my favourite for many years. It used to stay on me for up to 16 hours. It is not so strong now. It appears to have been weakened. Either that or I have bought a few not so good ones over the past few years.
Mr. Chris, thanks for another great review. I should reach for this one more often. Such a well formulated fragrance for so little money. The bottle design is a classic and reminds me of some of the old school Lalique fragrances. Peace and be well my friend ✌
Perfectly done mate. I to picked this up in Italy in 1997 when i was working there. This one has a special place in my heart, not something I wear that often , it talks to me when it want to come out for the day. Kind of like how I feel about D&G PH.
Strangely enough, this is one I don't have anymore and, when I did have it, unopened, I did not know what it was a few years back and gave it away to my nephew. Who never wore it. Ah well. He gave it to a friend. I look forward to finding this on a hot deal at Ebay now, after hearing you and Coach619 discuss it. Thanks! I thoroughly enjoy your reviews.
Beautiful review, Chris. You’re the old school guru! Versace is my favorite designer house. I haven’t disliked a single fragrance release I’ve smelled from them(there’s 3-4 I haven’t gotten my nose on yet). Next time you’re in NYC let’s grab a cigar and drink at Club Macanudo. Monte 2 on me.
Great review chris 👌 this for me is also special it's one of the great designer fragrances I have a few back up bottles, also I too think its genderless the great Chandler burr new york times fragrance critic says every woman should own and wear Versace the Dreamer as it smells phenomenal on women aswell as men.
Hey, if everybody would wear it, that would make its charm and appeal get lost....its good that its not overused and therefore a gem for connoisseurs;)
'The dreamer' is one of my favourite tobacco perfumes. I like that's not a gourmand tobacco fragrance, but rather an elegant blend of florals and green leaves of tobacco. Its powdery drydown adds extra points in its character. One more of my favourite tobacco perfumes, (and a hidden gem in my opinion), is Tabac extreme, which is sadly discontinued. I would say that Tabac extreme is the child of Aramis and the dreamer. A barbershop powerhouse of tobacco and florals with an old school leathery drydown. Try to find it Chris in case you are not familiar with this perfume, and give it a sniff ;)
It's discontinued, so try e-bay, (there are some 30-50ml bottles and a lot of 5ml miniatures available, if you don't like blind buys and you want to test it first), unless you have other sources to buy discontinued fragrances.
Loved this a long time ago but i think they changed the blend. its weaker in the new pack and i look for the old bottles. It's not the same . They had lotion shower gel. deodorant. body spray . it was more tabacco and orange.

Great review Chris!
I totally agree and have experienced the same!!!
You have to be nostalgic, romantic and you need to have big fantasy to love and enjoy this scent

One of the best Dreamer reviews

Strange beast this one for me. I have two original vintage bottles.I like it, but don't love it unfortunately. Still a great fragrance for what it is.

Thanks and good luck! Also, note that the current version is as good as the vintage one!
Such a beautiful dry down.
For me it is more tan a fragrance, it is a piece of art and an amount of emotions
Makes me dream really
Where are you? Besutifull place
Same here. I was at lake Balaton, Hungary, specificly at Badacsony which is a great wine growing place

I just found this fragrance and I’m blown away after 100s of samples of other scents ❤️

Hmmm, that sounds amazing actually. Where is it available?

Yes Boss!
hahahahah Cheers
Cool review and a lovely view there! How would you rate The Dreamer vs Versace Man?
Loved this a long time ago but i think they changed the blend. its weaker in the new pack and i look for the old bottles. It's not the same . They had lotion shower gel. deodorant. body spray . it was more tabacco and orange.
I find them to be the same still
I had ignored the earlier versace fragrances, maybe it's time for me to explore them, particularly this one.
Definitely but do those which where released by Gianni himself (until 1997)
Scent Land I guess that would be this one, Versus and L'Homme.
a couple of spritzes of Dreamer to get into the right frame of mind for Scentland!,the Land Of Scent!
hahahaha indeeeedddd
It is really masterpeace. One of a kind..
Please where is that place? Like dreamer...I like the view!
Hi Leo, its in Badacsony which is a wine region at the Lake Balaton in Hungary
Great review and I enjoyed it
Love ❤️ this scent
Wowwwwwwwww!!!! You are Fantastic!!! Great 👍🏻 Review!!!
Is this on the shores of Lake Balatón?
Indeed that is!!
Is it worth $95 from 1996 version
@@larryd.deutchman9454 yes
Nice review
Thanks a lot
This is old school DNA I don't recommend to people younger than 30.
Good Job!!!
thanks
Dreamer never hit my radar back in the 90s but I was into blue jeans..still have that one..so unique
Blue Jeans is indeed still terrific!!
Dreamer is an OK fragrance but it definitely lacks finesse and complexity. Not for me.
Hey Alain, I could not diagree more but I am curious, which fragrance do you consider as complex and full of finesse?
