I think that mgill will be great from the pen ..maybe some day a closer...definitely not a starter. .can get out of the 3 ining for a couple of starts now

I don’t know what they can do but Megill has not ever been the answer in 3 seasons and he won’t be anytime soon.
You are so right about McGill. He, along with Baty, needs to be traded as a package deal to a small-market team. They both signed with the Mets in 2019. It's time for other minor leaguers to get a chance. Management wishing and hoping, year after year, and bringing the same mediocre players up and down, year after year, is wasting time and stifling players longing for their chance in the majors. Management may be very surprised how "baptism by fire" could yield impressive results.
Scott should hopefully be back up sooner rather than later. As for McNeil, he definitely should not be playing as much as he has been. Not sure what kind of deal they’d be able to swing, but Iglesias needs to be starting either way.
Megill is at best a bullpen arm, the way they were trying to salvage Houser. If anything, if McGill continues on a downward trend, then, use him as a reliever, if he does terrible as a reliever & is no help as a reliever, then, ok, option him out & get rid of him. Concerning Marte, I like him, because I think he's a decent hitter, he gets on base often, his downside is he's injury prone with minor injuries, ex., hamstrings, sore knee, etc., but, hey, all sports players have their good & bad times. However, as an option, the Mets can use Marte as a DH to give JD a rest at times. On JD Martinez, I think he's a keeper, the Mets should sign him to at least a 2-3 year deal, because, JD has been producing for the Mets, hitting base hits & hitting them out the park with men on base at times. Also, I really hope the Mets can do their absolute Best to sign Super Star, Juan Soto next year to a long term contract, Soto has been doing a Great job offensively & defensively for the Yankees & he can hit them out the park with men on base. If the Mets can sign Superstar Soto next year when he's available, then I would love to see him hit behind JD Martinez, or, hit behind Alvarez. The Mets need to do a shakeup on their pitching & trade Sean Maneau & Quintana & any other pitcher that's not doing a good job for them. The Mets need to try to sign a solid pitcher, or, bring up a prospect pitcher from AAA to see how he does. Let's Go Mets.....😊
I'm impressed with your outstanding writing, but less so with your analysis. This team has a rotation comprised of 6th and 7th starters with little to hope for from the Minors, and yet you want to invest $600+ mil in Soto. That money must go into pitching. We also need to move vets for pitching prospects. I'm willing to offer Sevy $80 mil for 4 years now and move him if he doesn't accept.
I just watched Carlos Rodón get smoked by the Braves yesterday. Should the Yankees take him out of the rotation? It's a long long season, Fink. You can't jump to extremes every time a guy has a bad outing. I also don't understand the hype surrounding Scott. There are two things a pitcher needs to succeed in the show (ok three) and I don't see any of them with this kid, atleast not yet. His velocity is in the mid nineties, certainly hitable by most major league batters. His ability to hit spots is just okay and his breaking pitches are average. I think the more we see of him, the more his flaws will become obvious. My worry is that once he gets here, he's going to get hurt trying to throw harder than he's capable of or trying to spin breaking balls that tweak his elbow. I say let him refine his stuff in the minors. There's no rush. At least not for the sane amongst us. Syndegaard, Harvey and deGromm should be cautionary tales.
Well first off this series is a big series against the cubs which we really need to win today and Megill didn’t even give us a chance and he has not been good in past starts and years. Second Scott has been in the majors and dominated. Of course he will struggle but that’s what the coaches and everyone is there for. I think Megill could work well as a 2 inning guy out of the bullpen. I don’t think he was all that bad yesterday. The home plate umpire was AWFUL. In the 1st inning he basically gave the Cubs 5 runs. Megill threw 5 strikes, two were debatable, to Hoerner and ONE was called a strike. It only got more absurd from there. Even the last AB to Nido……he threw him 5 F’ing strikes! I do think Scott or Butto would be better in that role but I don’t think Megill was that bad yesterday. Umpire just had a strike zone the size of a bread box. Megill should be tried in the bullpen before he’s sent down. I also like the idea of having multiple guys in the bullpen capable of going 3 innings or more.
@@cooldude7821 Maybe. I’m just saying what happened yesterday wasn’t primarily an issue of his performance being poor. He was dotting fastballs on the black, sometimes 1/2 to a full ball width inside the black, and Carapazza just refused to call strikes.
