On May 15, the Mets made several moves: Designated 2B Joey Wendle and RHP Yohan Ramirez for assignment. Recalled RHP Grant Hartwig, 3B Mark Vientos and LHP Joey Lucchesi from Syracuse (IL). Optioned RHP Jose Butto to Syracuse.

If Diaz is suspended 10 games, you also lose his roster spot. I would like to see Megill optioned and bring up another reliever with Walker. When they need a 5th starter on July 2nd, option Walker and bring up Scott.

Including today they have 20 games till the all star break. 7 with Washington. They can do some real damage. Other than the yanks every team they face in that stretch is under .500. They can make a real push here. They need length and quality starts. Outside of severino no one’s stepped up. No one can pitch into the 6th and not collapse. I don’t know what they can do but Megill has not ever been the answer in 3 seasons and he won’t be anytime soon.

You are so right about McGill. He, along with Baty, needs to be traded as a package deal to a small-market team. They both signed with the Mets in 2019. It's time for other minor leaguers to get a chance. Management wishing and hoping, year after year, and bringing the same mediocre players up and down, year after year, is wasting time and stifling players longing for their chance in the majors. Management may be very surprised how "baptism by fire" could yield impressive results.

Megill is at best a bullpen arm, the way they were trying to salvage Houser.
Here they were talking in Spring Training as if he was Cy Young
he's got another pitch ... he is awful still as a starter,
    David Peterson way better.
Butto when he is focused is better. Scott is way better.
    Lucchesi has shown better flashes.
MeGil is a long term project that will probably play better on other teams.

How many opportunities the Mets are giving to Tylor Megill to be a decent starter and he failed???Not only him, Smith, Houser, Ottavino and Foiley needs to go. They can't fight for a wildcard run with that ineffective pitchers..The only changes that the team can do are: Send Megill to AAA to works on breaking pitches and control or use him in the "horrendous" bullpen. Bring Scott or Butto..Bring Baty to platoon 3B with Vientos ..Please don't move Iglesias from 2B for McNeill. He is very valuable making a great defensive doubleplay combination with Lindor. Don't play McNeill in the outfield, he is done already. Play Taylor and Stewart platoon in RF (Marte is injured) is not great but is the only option..Rotation: 1-Severino. 2-Manaea. 3-Quintana. 4- Peterson. 5-Scott or Butto until Senga comeback..If after 10 days they don't perform to reach 50%, start to be sellers at trading deadline...

  • @gee5019
    @gee5019 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

On Tyler McGill, let's be reasonable, all pitchers have good days & bad days, just because a pitcher is not pitching his best stuff on certain days, doesn't mean the Mets should turn their back on him & get rid of him, plus, McGill has more strikeouts this year, then, in any other year that he's pitched.
If anything, if McGill continues on a downward trend, then, use him as a reliever, if he does terrible as a reliever & is no help as a reliever, then, ok, option him out & get rid of him.
Concerning Marte, I like him, because I think he's a decent hitter, he gets on base often, his downside is he's injury prone with minor injuries, ex., hamstrings, sore knee, etc., but, hey, all sports players have their good & bad times.
However, as an option, the Mets can use Marte as a DH to give JD a rest at times.
On JD Martinez, I think he's a keeper, the Mets should sign him to at least a 2-3 year deal, because, JD has been producing for the Mets, hitting base hits & hitting them out the park with men on base at times.
Also, I really hope the Mets can do their absolute Best to sign Super Star, Juan Soto next year to a long term contract, Soto has been doing a Great job offensively & defensively for the Yankees & he can hit them out the park with men on base.
If the Mets can sign Superstar Soto next year when he's available, then I would love to see him hit behind JD Martinez, or, hit behind Alvarez.
The Mets need to do a shakeup on their pitching & trade Sean Maneau & Quintana & any other pitcher that's not doing a good job for them.
The Mets need to try to sign a solid pitcher, or, bring up a prospect pitcher from AAA to see how he does. Let's Go Mets.....😊

I'm impressed with your outstanding writing, but less so with your analysis. This team has a rotation comprised of 6th and 7th starters with little to hope for from the Minors, and yet you want to invest $600+ mil in Soto. That money must go into pitching. We also need to move vets for pitching prospects. I'm willing to offer Sevy $80 mil for 4 years now and move him if he doesn't accept.

I just watched Carlos Rodón get smoked by the Braves yesterday. Should the Yankees take him out of the rotation? It's a long long season, Fink. You can't jump to extremes every time a guy has a bad outing. I also don't understand the hype surrounding Scott. There are two things a pitcher needs to succeed in the show (ok three) and I don't see any of them with this kid, atleast not yet. His velocity is in the mid nineties, certainly hitable by most major league batters. His ability to hit spots is just okay and his breaking pitches are average. I think the more we see of him, the more his flaws will become obvious. My worry is that once he gets here, he's going to get hurt trying to throw harder than he's capable of or trying to spin breaking balls that tweak his elbow. I say let him refine his stuff in the minors. There's no rush. At least not for the sane amongst us. Syndegaard, Harvey and deGromm should be cautionary tales.

I think Megill could work well as a 2 inning guy out of the bullpen. I don’t think he was all that bad yesterday. The home plate umpire was AWFUL. In the 1st inning he basically gave the Cubs 5 runs. Megill threw 5 strikes, two were debatable, to Hoerner and ONE was called a strike. It only got more absurd from there. Even the last AB to Nido……he threw him 5 F’ing strikes! The hits that came late in the inning came when he got frustrated with the umpire and was just pumping the ball right over the plate as that was the only way he could get that dumb goombah behind the plate to call a strike.
I do think Scott or Butto would be better in that role but I don’t think Megill was that bad yesterday. Umpire just had a strike zone the size of a bread box.
