    My old subspecialty chief was Chinese. His feedback: "Work harder." When he was president of a national medical society I remember that he handed his slides to a fellow with the words, "Carry these and do NOT lose them. BTW, work harder." Well, maybe not the last exhortation. But the slides were lost by the projectionist. At least that was the fellow's claim. The chief delivered his address with a white board and marker to an audience of a few thousand. Got a standing ovation.

    Students need to practice taking criticism. Some instructors* can be toxic, true, but most of the time the negative feedback is just stuff they assume will sort itself out and don't bother addressing. Students usually want affirmation and can't handle hearing they need to improve on anything because it shows fault.

    • @kevjay-med1225
      @kevjay-med1225 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The things you are showing reflect on the patient experience. Often the things we are trying to convey are ignored because we don't have the words. Is your pain...Are you kidding me. we have to figure out the right words to make you take us seriously. We don't have a way to compare types of pain. There is no google how does this feel app.

    Boooo, punch up not down. Doctors can make fun of doctors. Residents can make fun of residents and doctors. Med students can make fun of med students, residents, and doctors. Patients can make fun of everyone. Or if you are going to make fun of medical students, make fun of them from the perspective of the patients, like maybe make a video about a guy getting 10 DREs in a row to teach some medical students or something.

    • @Doc_Schmidt

      I personally don’t agree with that sentiment in many cases but ESPECIALLY if I am making fun of something I was at one time, aka a med student. It’s all in good fun. Also I think this applies to many professions/people outside of medicine too
