I was so confused why he couldn't return that, it seems he didn't even try. But now I'm thinking maybe you're right and he just gave the point. Kinda weird but kinda makes sense.
@@z3centurion277 I was actually going to say the exact opposite. The redirection off the floor shows precisely how little he did to correct the sidespin.
Yeah…it’s not really reflex. It’s more the brain has a general idea of where to expect the ball to be depending on how you hit it across the table to the opponent. Countless input have been processed from years of playing different opponents. All that on the foundation of the talent that is.
The hand eye coordination is incredible. He knew where the ball was landing and caught it like it was nothing after getting the point. So fun to watch.
Well yes and no. If you have played table tennis like this for a few years... It kinda becomes second nature. The hard thing about it is just reading the move and the spin or whether or not it's a dead spin. The wrong tilt of your paddle can send the ball flying in the wrong direction. You can also tell if the ball is a top spin or flat by the sound it makes when it hits the table. Giving you that half a second to adjust your strategy for returning the ball.
Now if the player who was constantly looping the ball really wanted the point he could hv just returned the ball with a soft touch near the net while the other player was far from the table
Nope, I am a playing this game for 7 years every single day and still struggle to drop the ball inside the table amidst a fast spinny rally. It's better to keep the rally going, most drop shots will fail cause if u play the ball softly, only the distance will decrease not the ball's spin. That's also the reason why most professionals keep the rally going. Also u CAN slow down without missing but it will not make a big difference in distance :)
I used to play in an old fire-station, and I would show off by serving from outside the building, through the doorway, down a (straight) hall and into the open area with the ping-pong table, but I would never be able to control a ball like that. Damn! I learned early on that no matter how long I practiced, how good I got, that there was always someone way better than me, and often several.
These guys are just way too good. It’s physics, but also years of training and reflexes that are out of this world. I wonder if we’ll ever see a Randy Daytona again.
I think you should put the regular speed shot and then the slow mo
I agree!

As a badminton player I thought our reflexes are fast, but one day i played badminton with a TT player and I was shocked by his reflexes.
If he managed to impress a regular badminton player, he must've had played some badminton in the past
I played both. Badminton has wider swings that can project shot trajectory. Tt you really have to at least glimpse the ball and React in real time.
