Aaron West & the Roaring Twenties released a song a few years ago called "Borrowed Chords." I remember asking Dan about it and he said it was a one time thing and that we'd probably never hear another song from that project, haha.
Never been so glad to know that he was wrong, haha.
Usually with lyrics I'm just like oh wow those are touching but something about when he was singing about his dad made me fucking lose it.
I cry listening to his lyrics all the time. He's got talent.
Dan Campbell is of the few singers who can really portray emotion. Adam Duritz (Counting Crows) is another one who can really do it well.
This whole album is fucking golden. I can't stop listening to it. Dan Campbell is a god damn genius.

this sounds nothing like the Wonder Years, for the record... musically at least... theres a full brass backing, mostly acoustic guitars and the drums are WAY calmer than any thing the wonder years have ever put out (although Kennedy from TWY played drums on this)... obviously the vocals are gonna sound identical, its the same singer... you have to listen it as a whole, and not just from a vocal standpoint.
all that being said, I love this and can't wait for the full record.
When I first heard about this side-project, I was skeptical but fully aware that Soupy had the capacity to pull it off brilliantly. Now that I've listened to it, I feel stupid for my skepticism. Soupy, you did good.
This is fucking awesome. Like the wonder years in some ways (primarily from soupy's voice and the way he writes) but also distinctly different. The melody structure and mixing is also a noticeable difference, and I think it works beautifully with this song.
Nathan Carter It’s amazing that he can transfer his talents to quite a different genre of music.

I think it's definitely gonna grow on me, my first time listening the lyrics seemed kinda forced, but watching this it was better
I definitely think the lyrics are a bit forced. There are some parts that are really good, and it's like there's some deep analogy or metaphor (anchors into my bones) but then it just goes back to the chorus or whatever. I like his voice and the tone of the song, and the ending is quite good too, but the lyrics in places need work, in my opinion.
mcr @six the chorus (especially the post-chorus) is weak, but that bridge is stunningly honest. Reminds me of the way Rivers Cuomo writes

What do you expect from the SINGER of The Wonder Years? Boxcar Racer, AVA, and +44 all sounded considerably like Blink. Misser has some of both Transit and This Time Next Year in it. Bleachers sounds like Fun.

I don't get it....so is Dan an Eagles fan, or a Bills fan?....Maybe Aaron is the Bills fan, idk.
Cristian Hernandez that's the idea, Aaron's dad was from the western part of the state and was a Bills fan, then moved to the island, so Aaron grew up a Bills fan too.
I figured that later. Then I realized I liked chargers just because I was born there, but feel more at home in Arizona. Liking two teams is undertandable, but he's got a big reason for liking both.
