Orthodox Christianity is not new to Britain: there are lots of Orthodox Saints here in Lincolnshire. At last count we have found 401 of them. There used to be many monasteries and monks and nuns in this county until the dissolution (over 100) but even before the Great Schism there were at least nine.

Are there any Orthodox priests without beards?
Yes. Usually because they have some other job and must shave for that. Military clergy are shaved.

I don't know your situation so I cannot answer directly. Sorry. On the other hand all coming to Christ involves a complete repentance (and sometimes a reversal of life) where your own concerns are left behind and your only goal and purpose is Christ Himself. This is what this Lady (Photine) did in this Gospel reading. We know that her life changed completely and she ended up as far away as North Africa preaching the Gospel. No small matter for a woman at that time (or now). God bless you!

Why do they have these massive beards? Does it mean that the more hair you have on your chin, the more brain cells are in your head, the wiser you are and the holier you are?
Probably the reverse is true. In my case certainly.
