I only have the NECA because money, but the new tail is great. I have him posed doing the godzilla dance from astro monster by curling the tail and balancing it on the one side.
I own both of them. I have a slight preference for the SHMA, but there's no denying that the NECA is a great figure and a damn good deal! They really did a great job with this guy!
@Matthew McCauley Mehhh their 2019 Godzilla is pretty accurate,especially from the front it looks great. The only things I can say are inaccurate about their 2019 Ghidorah is the snouts and the feet. The necks should also be a bit thicker towards the bottom but I'd say they got the general look down. It seems like they went off of some of the concept art when they were making the figure before the design for the movie was finalized.
i got the sh monster arts 62 and i dont know if its just or what but the left eye seems bigger and brighter then the right eye. im still highly considering picking up the neca as well
I tend to lean in favour of the monsterarts, but honestly, just seeing the box made me want the Neca and once out of the box.. wow! I've recalled all those crazy scenes from the 62 "FrankensKong" film!

I love the s h monster arts model I have both but I wold suggest getting neca firsts because my sh monster arts beam broke off a month later and I don’t know what’s up with the hands. But the dorsal plates look amazing. In conclusion I would get neca if your not a super fan collector but if you are you should get sh monster arts
The holes in the atomic breathe effect is for the teeth. After watching this I tried to push it in a bit farther and found the teeth fit perfectly for the holes
The Geek Chest I see. But my biggest concern are the joints. Both lines of figures I worry that if the joints are to stiff, I might accidentally break it while trying to pose it. Based on this, which one has easier to move joints?
I just got my neca 62 Godzilla and I love it. I am watching the movie right now and I see mostly at the 1st encounter with Godzilla and the tanks that it is almost exactly like the neca but later in the movie he looks like the sh monsterarts. He seems to go from painted nails to no paint. I may have to pick up the sh monsterarts one as well cause I always wanted a sh monsterarts and 62 is one of my top 3 suits. This way I have both Godzilla's and whomever makes king kong, I have a Godzilla that matches in scale. It's so much better in person and I can see why you like them both so much.
I keep saying that I am going to fix my neca shin Godzilla from the white and pink to a more purple color but I have been pushing it off cause I never painted a figure before. I am planning to thin the paint and the pink would bleed through and the white area would be a pale purple and the pink would be a different shade of purple to make a glowing effect. I did something similar on wood for a school project but I did it with green but the base was white, with blue fade. The green was thinned with paint thinner and the result was beyond better than I thought. Plastic is hard for paint to stick to and I don't want to ruin my figure. I like the sculpt of atomic shin Godzilla but I don't like the white. What kind of paint is best to use with a neca Godzilla and is thinner or water better to thin the paint? I never used water but a few people online says it's just as good and drys quickly.
I usually go with any acrylic paint. I don't recommend using thinner on these figures as the chemical can warp the plastic. I usually just reprimer the figure if I need to drastically change the color of the figure.
Although the 62 godzilla is my third favorite suit. Im sadly skipping on this figure cause if king kong was made,then i will get it. Otherwise he is on my wishlist.
i like the sh monsterarts but for the price, details, paint, accurate and articulation i will buy the neca one. also the sh monsterarts have good details but sometimes have a poor paint, is more small more fragile and it cost a lot more just for the articulation or detail

NECA is better, the Godzillas are amazing and they are for an affordable price, shma on the other hand, way too expensive and cheaper quality (except kong figure)

The 1962 shma isn't EXTREMELLY small, he is the same size as the heisei shma figures, the 64 shma, THAT was extremely small
