I’ve watched this video several times & I always enjoy it.This is 1960 & Elvis is 25 years old. His voice is so smooth. There are earlier performances by Elvis, when he’s 21 & 22 years old, for television, & there is an early open air concert, the only filmed early concert that we have.

Great reaction. Elvis' vibrato is so natural and beautiful, just an intrinsic part of his voice. He was definitely holding back, trying not to outshine Frank, but, how could he not? Just standing there looking and sounding fantastic. 💖🔥💖🔥

Jane H commenting …. The tremble in his voice is his vibrato, & Elvis has a unique vibrato, because it’s fast & its very smooth & even, whereas other singers have a wobbly vibrato that isn’t even. When Elvis sings Fame & Fortune, his voice is just so beautiful …. Almost delicate. Beautiful song too. Of course, Stuck On You, is another great song & shows his versatility.

Elvis and Frank together: priceless and as you say, both from different eras

I love how Elvis narrows down his posture next to Frank, quite naturally out of respect for the older star. Normally Elvis was always large on stage but he turns sideways even. Even then he totally steals the show. Soooo suave ...it makes Frank smile, and me every time I see this clip of those two together. Brilliant.

Check out young Elvis in the Jailhouse Rock video from 1957. I think MJ got some ideas watching this 🕺

Frank said "We're working in the same way just in different areas" .. he meant Elvis worked with his hips
Listen to Elvis sing My Way

This wasn`t easy for Frank. In his time, he was a sex symbol and young Elvis took over. At first, Frank was against them appearing together on the show.
This is a very important moment in music history, presenting two giants sharing the same stage.
Elvis was 25 in 1960, and Frank was 45.
Gosh, Elvis looked too good to be true.
Loved your respectful reaction. Thank you!
Because, these artists deserve respect, whether you like to listen to their music or not.❤

Can you believe there were no earpieces back in the day, no feedback for him to hear himself, just pure talent. They didnt have that technology until the late 70s. He’s truly amazing.

Well I think I'm stuck on you now. 😂 I need Elvis as often as possible, think I'm kind of addicted. This started about 45 years ago with "Stuck On You'".☺️His voice did it to me.
Years later I found out that he was sooooo handsome good looking and now I discover all his live videos and history on TH-cam. Can't stop it (my poor husband)!
This appearance was after his 2 years in the army.
He was famous before and there are live videos of different shows he did.
The background singers were the amazing Jordanairs.
Thank you so much for this one 💚🌞

If this is the earliest you have seen Elvis, you've got to check out some stuff from 1955 and 1956 before he went into the Army. Him doing Hound Dog on the Milton Berle variety show in I believe it's June 1956 and this was prior to the Ed Sullivan Show appearances, not only is it a fascinating glimpse into entertainment at the time, and make sure to go for the long clip so you get to see the introductions and some of the jokes and the whole thing without the ending of it cut off because, at what was supposed to be the end of Hound Dog, the crowd was just going so crazy that Elvis without any warning to his band, and they had never practiced it that way before, just kept it going but at half tempo. So this gave him even more room to do his exaggerated dance movements and hold these physically difficult poses and it almost started to turn turn into a burlesque feeling. And the crowd just went insanely nuts.
But it actually set off a racist firestorm and backlash, and that's when they started filming him from the waist up sometimes when they thought he was going to go nuts. They were throwing the n-word at him and everything and trying to get his records removed from the jukeboxes and radio stations and so forth. It was utterly ridiculous. I've seen a short version of that where that part is chopped off, so you definitely want the long version.
And as much as I like Frank, I hate to say it but in my book, Elvis has the best version of My Way by far. It's from his 1973 Aloha from Hawaii live television and satellite special. It is just stunning.

It is super great that these videos exists. Elvis was 25 and had just returned from serving in Germany. Frank was 45, and when Elvis became famous in 1956, Sinatra like most older crooners did not care for Elvis and rock and roll. Elvis willingly serving in the Army, instilled more respect from older adults. However, after this until 1968, Elvis was acting in increasing weak movies and not putting out as many popular records. This was his managers fault. Don’t know if you watched the movie which exposes Tom Parker, Elvis manager. 1956 Elvis TV appearances and his 4 pre Army movies are best for showcasing The younger Elvis and his charisma.

I loved the interaction between the two of them. Personally, I thought Elvis was a little reserved, and not very comfortable in his performances. He had just done a benefit performance in Hawaii. In those audio recordings, and photos, he appeared more like his 1950’s version of Elvis. He seemed more restrained in the TV special. JMHO. Thanks for sharing!
