    Very informative and entertaining review as always....since these cheap-o multimeters are something that we can't consider cheap here in our 3rd world country since we have to save up a few months worth of pay just to buy one, these reviews are a great help,especially the tear downs. More power and merry christmas/happy holidays.

      Very poignant reminder my friend..indeed Western societies are spoiled and many do not realize the hardships and daily struggles others must endure just to stay afloat. Thanks so much for the reminder and I've pinned this comment so others can see as well.

    A while back I asked about your thoughts of this meter. Well, you delivered. I thought this meter would be an upgrade to the Aneng 8008. The fuses looked a little bigger than that model. I liked the bluetooth feature. It would have been interesting to know the actual range between mobile phone and multimeter. And yes, the backlight feature is a plus. For $25.00 from Banggood, it's a ok meter. I like the idea of the bluetooth feature. If I was measuring the voltage of my car, I could hook up the meter to the battery and view the initial voltage, and while I'm sitting in the comfort of my car view the running voltage to test the voltage of my alternator--incase anyone is interested, the running voltage should be about 1 volt higher (13.5 volts) than the initial voltage (12.5 volts) of the battery prior to starting. Maybe I could hook up the meter to an outlet and from the circuit panel, flip the breaker until I view no voltage: thereby, I identifying the breaker that controls that circuit. I see the idea of viewing the stats on a mobile device as a convenience and possibly a safety feature by isolating the user from the device--if handled correctly. I think the real strong point is the fact that you can collect data and maybe find certain faults that you would not find otherwise. Or if you are designing a circuit and need data over a length of time, this meter might be a lifesaver. So for me, the main selling point of this meter is the mobile datalogging for the price. As pointed out the software is fantastic compared to some. I have a few meters that will do data logging. Perhaps you could do a video comparing data logging software. Anyway, as always, I think you give a very good review of each product. Thank you.

      Great points 👍 I will verify the BT minimum distance as requested and report back. You are correct when you point out the safety feature a wireless multimeter can add to the testing scenarios, especially if it's substantial.😀
      Data logging is a bonus and the graphing trends are a great addition 👌

      You need to recheck your running voltage figures. I suggest 14.7V when running, a good lead acid car battery about 1.5V less when the alternator isn't running settling back over time with final voltage giving a general indication of battery condition.

  • @editfarkas4503
    @editfarkas4503 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The correct method with these meters is as follows: Connect the probes to a voltage source in the range you want to measure, then press the MIN/MAX or the REL buttons. This sets the meter in the desired range, preferably the V range where it will remain until you exit these modes. Now you can measure any voltage even down to 0V with a resolution available in the V range.

    This should be atleast 10000 count because the cheaper 8008 is already that and is pretty damn accurate specially for the price.

    Thank you for the informative review! I bought one for 25 bugs just for fun and I must admit that I am quite impressed by the value you get for the money spent. Regarding the MAX/MIN fail I have played around with this functionality a bit. It seems to work fine if you select the range manually prior to run MAX/MIN.

    Hi, I think I know why the min/max feature failed in your test. When you pressed the MIN/MAX button you thought the first value the meter got was the 8V of the battery. But actually it was 0V, more precisely 9mV because the probes were not connected to a voltage source.
    Now, for some reason unknown to me with some multimeters (e.g. Aneng Q1 and BSIDE ZT302) autorange does not work in the MIN/MAX or the REL modes. And as the first value the meter got was 9mV, it got stuck in this lowest mV range, from where it couln't switch to the V range. Hence the OL.

  • @yambo59
    @yambo59 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think thats the nicest meter software ive ever seen, sounds like ya cant cable link it to a PC but that may not matter to many. Im also so glad to see another meter with a simple on/off backlight, I wish that trend had started before I bought 35 meters--lol. They should have put a rubberized back body similar to the the Q1 on it for a better grip. I have the 8000 and 9000 versions, the rounded body and slick plastic has always been a dislike of mine as well on this series of 8 and 9000 Aneng meters. I also see this one has four input jacks instead of three. This one has some good features, now they need to finish the job, revamp the body design, better continuity, add a bar graph, tighten up the range switch.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes Mike, that plastic housing just doesn't cut it , not after you've held a Q1 in your hand. They tried to save a few pennies but it makes this ANENG subpar n the long run. I knew you'd love that backlight 😀

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have an 8008 and 8009 and they really work pretty good for what they are and have decent functionality, but yeah that goofy roly-poly slippery-slidey case design has needed upgrading for some time its awkward and odd to handle. They were said to be copying the shape of the Fluke 101 which is a great little meter but has same type of rounded case that just doesnt handle all that well except as a pocket meter - as a bench meter they need a stand of some sort - so I built one for mine as you know. It should be said when these little 8/9000 series meters came out a few years back they sold like mad as they were cheap and offered such ameneties as a REL key etc. which were hard to come by on cheap meters at the time.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yambo59 ANENG definitely attained cult status and have their following with the series. Hopefully they can do better with the cheap plastic housing.. it really detracts from the usefulness..a Q1 style grip would be well recieved !

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea and I think they should be able to do so much better, but they release a design rest on their laurels and leave it pretty much as is only making incremental upgrades when much more is needed to stay competitive, this series is now long in the tooth and better meters are appearing all over the place for the same money or less. This one will sell because of bluetooth, but not because its a great all around meter. I kinda see the addition of bluetooth as a quick cheap way to bring back some sales, hell they put everything in bluetooth, somewhere im sure theres a marital aid with blue tooth in it just because its a big seller--LOL

    Can it measure current comsumption in the range of 0.1uA - 1 uA well ?

      Really you should look for a meter with much greater resolution - 2 or 3 orders of magnitude would be significantly better.

    How the Max/Min function fail? Anyone test it ?

    • @Joachim123
      @Joachim123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have tested it in Voltage mode. MAX/MIN does not work if voltage mesasured exceeds the range automatically choosen at start. But if an appropriate range is selected manually then it works fine.

    I am not impressed by the software (the DMM appears to work OK for me, but misses acoustic diode checking and has low accuracy as to ambient temperatures).
    Being forced to create a CHINESE account in order to use my DMM on my own BT handheld device??
    Why would anyone want to be online in order to connect to his own meter???
    Which by the way does NOT use the standard BT connection, can ONLY be paired by the proprietary software, and only when providing geo (GPS) location, FOR WHOM?!
    Has anybody thought about all these enforced Chinese server dependencies for SmartHome, for security cams, for SmartWatches, even for stupid DMMs? What if one sweet day China goes down the same sanction tube as Russia has after the 'special operation' in the Ukraine? Taiwan anyone?? If China decides to pull server plugs for whatever reason, none of all your gadgets will ever come to life again: your 'dumb' home will be literally be left in the dark, your wristwatch will record zeros and your BT DMM is dead in the water.. Digital black mailing is lurking around the corner - THINK ABOUT IT!
    The software itself is crappy, the data collection misses time stamps in the CSV file, all looks amateurish and primitive. I wrote some WM software for my ancient METEX M3640D (from the late 1980s, with RS232 port) that runs circles around this China (cr)'app' (sic!).
    As much as I do like my new ANENG 9002 from uncle Jack Ma, I'd rather collect data (timed discharge, temp profiles etc.) with my trustworthy METEX on an old WindowsMobile handheld device. I waited 35 years to replace RS232 with this new Bluetooth stuff - bummer..

      I totally agree 👍 No software application should require special permission or access restrictions when its sold as part of the device functionality. Considering its 2022 you would think such nuances in programming aka bugs would be history..unfortunately that's not the case.As a footnote.. My watches are Swiss,Japanese, German and French . The 2 Heritors (china) I own are mechanical 😃👍

    Aneng AN82 is much better multimeter

    This Aneng is a hit-and-miss for me. The permanent backlight is great, but in the dark you won't be able to see the mode you're on with that rotary switch. You'll just have to rely on the tiny icons, which isn't that great. It's good for LED testing, but no high voltage alarm unless you go over limit. It has an in built temperature sensor, but slow continuity. At least we don't see those tiny 10mm fuses or pigtails here. I fear with that plastic body it just slips and slides everywhere. So the main selling point is its Bluetooth functionality.
    Can someone explain why would you want to go full auto mode? In my experience it's just slow and inconsistent. And you have to mind all the limitations... Is it just a gimmick, or does it have an actual use?
    As always, thanks for the review. I was looking at this model for a present last week, but decided against it. I guess it performed better than I expected. Also I noticed the new channel description. Don't know how long it was there, but I like it.

      Those 10mm fuses of the past hopefully won't be resurrected by ANENG anytime soon. I just can't understand why the case removal for fuse replacement is such an exercise in frustration when its part of the maintenance process on this multimeter? Ugh! Much better choices but they don't have BT, what a quagmire!🤔
