Great video as always Pierre, best home brew channel on TH-cam hands down. Glad to be a member, keep up the great work. Would be great to see a German style home brew if you get the chance
Hi Pete thank you for joining I will definitely have a look at a German style beers for sure, I have a vested interest in the style, just don't know how to go about as yet. Thanks for joining , I'm sure I will not let you down. Cheers
hi Pierre, great video as usual. i made a coopers stout standard except a little lactose powder added. 20 litres at 20 degrees temp control. psi at 12. bottled in stubbies. some left after 2 years. A terrific drop, no off flavours. cheers geoff
Cooper stout is one of the best I add a quarter of teaspoon of cardamom plus 500gram of raw sugar , 400 grams of golden syrup from Woolworths you won’t be disappointed regards
Fantastic video and very informative, thank you! I've recently brewed my own beer for the first time and wish I'd watched this first! I think i was being too cautious waiting for the no rinse sanitiser to dry and only used 1 bag of yeast. I have the camden tablets but forgot to use one. For my next brew i shall be trying to add some extra flavours, this first one has a bitter aftertaste and isn't that pleasant (I used the Simply Export Stout extract). It also feels too carbonated even though i only used half a teaspoon (500ml bottle).
The Coopers Stout is one of my favourites and even when brewed simply, beats many other kit stouts available in the UK. I do like adding a little coffee and wood chips to mine and always brew it short to give it more umph . Good video.
Funny you should say that, I believe it is finished and it has only been a week. Since I started fermentation. I just checked it and is at 1.015fg I will check it tomorrow and see the results. Looks really good and I am looking forward to drinking it. I would have liked to use a different yeast for more control on the fermentation but unfortunately I didn't have any.
I will shortly be making this www.geterbrewed.com/coffee-milk-stout-ingredient-kit/ but don't know anything about coffee. The recipe says to add 1 litre of your favourite ground coffee at whirlpool. I was thinking of using a cold press to avoid bitter coffee & only want a background coffee flavour. What coffee do you use or do you have any suggestions?
The tilt was the first real wireless hydrometer that only works with Bluetooth. It is quite small and reliable. I will look into a video for this product but it's a little old these days that's why I haven't done it.
Great video Pierre. I'm extremely new to brewing & wanted to check the DME you used in this video. This does not come with the Coopers stout pack? Did you use a particular type of DME for stout?
Hi Mark, I used a standard Dry Malt Extract from my brew shop it is just a single grain malt 1kg nothing special about it just a plain malt extract. Cheers Hope you love the hobby Pierre
Yes, if you do it this way you will reduce the amount of alcohol produced and also mouth feel will be a little less prevalent. You can add 1kg of dextrose to it to get a better fermentation. Just the same you can just use the one can it should turn out fine.
Hi Clon, I don't know what you mean by jar extract! and it most certainly can be bottled in a 3 litre bottle providing you put the appropriate amount of finishing sugars in it. Use about 3g per 350ml for a stout.
Good to see you are keeping it simple and some extra tips to help new brewer’s in extract brewing good stuff, funny too at times lol 😂 but when is Cornelius going to host a brew day lol 😆

Jesus. I've learnt alot here. Love it. Especially the bit about camden tablets.
Thank you, I aim to show how simple it can be!

I have been all grain brewing for several years but I still love these videos and I think Coopers can of goo is a really good beer. Cheers
Yeah I realy like Coopers as well. Thank you for the feedback.

Stout beer = Yum
So true, 😁
Good evening from Camden New South Wales
Hi Peter Welcome, really appreciate you taking a look
I add a half box wheetbix then a black jelly bean to each bottle when done very nice
Nice idea I will give that a try.
Stouts normally get carbonation creep, I think there must be some complex sugars created during the roasting process.

How short do you brew it?... I like mine around 18 litres
@@honda4100 18 litres! Wow I have only made this once and would think 20 Litres was taking it to the limits?
@@SimpleHomeBrew cooper's "Stouter Stout" recipe is made to 18 litres..... love it👌

I did not know there was yeast-nutrient in Coopers yeast. That's really cool! Looking forward to the results of the Coopers Stout. Cheers! 🍺🍻
Me neither until I read it on Brewfathers web site. It says it on some of the packets. Go figure Ha?
Nice dude. Looking forward to the M.Jacks pouch 👍🍺
You and me both!
@@SimpleHomeBrew I've seen there's a limited edition range for Christmas 😃😃😃

How much DME and which type do you add? I am guessing DME can be added to any Cooper type kit. Love your videos.✊🏾✊🏾 cheers
@@angelvazquez4457 hi, I normally use 1kg for extracts. That's it!
@SimpleHomeBrew ok I figured that but wasn't sure. Thank you mate. Keep up the great work.

Could you do it without the malt extract? just the can?.

Can I only do this with a jar extract?
Can it be bottled in 3 liter glass bottles?
I am new to brewing
I'm new to brewing and accidentally bought the extract like in your video

@@SimpleHomeBrew Thanks for the answer. By "extract" I mean "Coopers DIY Beer Stout" :). For my first experience, I also bought "Ruby Porter".
@@potassiumc Very nice, what did the Ruby porter taste like?

About to do my first Coopers Stout. What is your sterilizer of choice?
Hi Richard I use StellSan. Have fun
Does anyone know if you can increase the alcohol strength of the finished Stout, by doubling the batch amounts..? Thank you in advance.
The only real way is to add more fermentable sugars. Bare in mind you may need to use a yeast that can handle higher alcohol volumes.
did you use a dark ot light dme?
I used Dry Malt Extract not Light Dry Malt Extract! I think I will use Dark DME next time to cover some of the dryness.
@@SimpleHomeBrew okay cool, I was asking as I'm doing my first stout at the moment and was wondering if dark or light dme would be better.
NICE
Thanks
