    UPDATE: As I expected might happen, Canva has now added a Dream Lab link to the left menu on the home screen giving you an easy access point to Dream Lab. On mobile, you use the triple line icon in the upper left to reveal this menu.

    Interesting. I have a Canva subscription but rarely use it...the learning curve, but this helps. Watching from the PHILIPPINES.

    A fascinating update. Personally, I think the next step needs to be to add a feature that allows you to select a specific area to generate an image

    • @learncanvawithgreg
      @learncanvawithgreg  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You mean like a specific area within a photo? That is the idea behind the Magic Edit tool although I think for now the results you get with that tool are not very good -- it's usually pretty bad at things like matching shadows and color which are a pretty big deal when it comes to creating a convincing photo composite. For edits like that I still always recommend programs like Photoshop (or Photopea for a lighter weight free alternative). But AI tools are advancing at a fast rate so we might see big improvements in tools like the Magic Edit tool in the future. We shall see. cheers, Greg

    Hi Greg, that was really helpful. I was wondering if the images need to be upscaled? I usually use Midjourney and everything seems to be needing upscaling.

    • @learncanvawithgreg
      @learncanvawithgreg  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Carrie, thanks for the question. I used the "Ask Canva" AI assistant (the question mark in the bottom right which is often a good tool for questions like this) about image resolution and it sounds like Dream Lab will usually generate images with a resolution of 2048 pixels on the long edge. So, a square image would be 2048 x 2048 pixels. A 16:9 image would be 2048 x 1152 images. I believe this is a little bit better than you sometimes get with AI Image Generation tools...for example, I believe the standard output for Midjourney is 1024 x 1024 pixels. But, whether you need to upscale or not is really a question that depends on your end use. 2048 pixels is going to good enough for plenty of uses, but let's says you were creating a 11 x 14 inch print that was going to be printed at 300 DPI. Doing the math, that would require an image that's 3300 x 4200 pixels so it really just depends on your end goal. Also, remember that upscaling is an imperfect solution...sometimes it works well, but not always. Anyway, l hope this helps! : ) cheers, Greg

    So glad I came across this video as I was having difficulty finding the Dream Lab in Canva. I also love your content, I even purchased your Udemy course on Canva earlier this year!! I do have a question though. I have the Canva Pro account but I cannot seem to get the Dream lab icon to appear on my homepage side menu like you showed on screen when you were in your free account. I asked Google and Canva help but I am not finding my answer. Can you help direct me?

      Hi Anja, glad to hear this video was helpful and thanks for checking out my Udemy course! I wish I had a good answer for you as to why you are not yet seeing the Dream Lab icon on your homepage side menu....I suspect users are still probably sometimes seeing different things based on their geolocation or based on their device. Hopefully Canva get things normalized for everyone soon. In the meantime, the www.canva.com/dream-lab link should work so maybe you can create an easy to follow bookmark in your browser bar to follow until an easy navigation link appears for you. I didn't see the left menu link immediately after the update....it took about half a day....so maybe they are slow getting that rolled out to everyone. Hope it shows up for you soon! cheers, Greg

    Do you know if I can use Dream Lab pictures for commercial use?

    • @learncanvawithgreg
      @learncanvawithgreg  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think the answer to this is often going to be yes, but for usage rights questions it's always going to come down to whether or not you adhere to Canva's Content License Agreement (www.canva.com/policies/content-license-agreement/) and other policies so I always defer to those. Besides the content license agreement linked above, a few more links that might be helpful to you: Licensing Explained (www.canva.com/licensing-explained/) and AI Product Terms (www.canva.com/policies/ai-product-terms/). And it's also always a good idea to reach out to Canva support or to your own legal counsel if you ever have any usage right questions. Best of luck! cheers, Greg

    Can I upload my own image for it to use inside a design?

    • @learncanvawithgreg
      @learncanvawithgreg  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Mark,
      If you are asking if you can upload a reference image that design lab will make use of when generating AI images then the answer is no, not yet. This was something that I believe was an option with the beta testing of Dream Lab, but was removed for the official launch... so it might still become an option down the line. Also, Canva recently acquired Leonardo AI which is the AI technology behind Dream Lab (I believe) and if you directly visit their website, app.leonardo.ai/ then I believe from there you can use a reference image. They have a free plan which I believe gives you 150 credits a month...you can go to a paid plan for additional credits and improved resolution options. Lots of other AI tools out there as well that support reference images.
      And if I messed this up and you were simply asking about being able to upload your own regular images within a Canva Design (no longer talking about AI creation) then, yes, of course.
      Hope this helps.
      cheers,
      Greg

    Do you know if the 500 points credit is each month ?

    • @learncanvawithgreg
      @learncanvawithgreg  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the 500 credits should renew each month if you are a Canva Pro user. A great way to get answers to questions like this in Canva is to use the "?" icon in the bottom right corner to use the Ask Canva AI assistant. It doesn't always have answers for everything or super specific questions, but it actually does have answers for a lot of things. And, actually, it's what I just used to confirm this answer. : ) cheers, Greg

    Will be better if Canva can download images as 300DPI

    • @learncanvawithgreg
      @learncanvawithgreg  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @EasyThaiKitchen, yes, having higher resolution images would be useful! But DPI can be confusing when exporting images, as it doesn’t impact resolution until printing or setting your device’s display resolution. DPI (dots per inch) is just a scale for pixel density in prints, while PPI (pixels per inch) is the term for screens. However, pixel count (resolution) actually controls image clarity as you scale. For example, a 1200 x 1200 image exported at 300 DPI or 200 DPI will still be 1200 x 1200 pixels. But if you were to print said 1200 x 1200 pixel image: at 300 DPI, it’ll print 4 x 4 inches; at 200 DPI, 6 x 6 inches-larger but with less sharpness/pixel density per inch. Hopefully this makes sense! cheers, Greg
