It's tough to have programs always do all the things that you'd like them to do. It would be nice if this all could be done in Canva, but at least this gives us a relatively simple workaround. cheers, Greg

The process is the same on a mobile device, but I find it slightly more tricky with a smaller screen and without mouse click options. But, it certainly still can be done. Instead, of using Ctrl + click, instead make sure you have the layer you want to load as a selection highlighted in the layers menu to the right, then from the "Select" menu in the top menu you can choose "Load Selection" and by default it should have what you need in the Channel dropdown...it will save something like "Layer X Transparency". Just click okay and you should load all the pixels in the current layers as a selection. Then you can proceed to the channel --> Selection to Path steps and the other steps. That's correct. Once uploaded, then you can't really edit a TH-cam video. If you add end screen elements via TH-cam Studio then they will just appear over the last 20 (you can adjust to between 5 and 20) seconds of your video. This can be okay, but it's not ideal if elements end up blocking other important things onscreen at that time. For this reason, end screens where you have silence and appropriate text/calls to action, etc. are recommended. You could, of course, take down a video and then upload a new version with the end screen at the end, but that is NOT a recommended option IF you have a TH-cam video that has some traction and is getting views as you're starting over if you upload a new video. Usually, there are multiple options from copying elements from one page to another. If on laptop/desktop, Click on the element to select it. Next click on the 3 dots (...) that should show in the contextual menu that appears above the selected item and from this menu choose "Copy" or use the Ctrl/Cmd + C keyboard shortcut to copy. On the page where you are going to paste it (if on desktop/laptop), right mouse click and choose "Paste" or use the Ctrl/Cmd+V keyboard shortcut to paste. On mobile, you would select, use the three dots (...) to bring up the next menu, choose copy, and then on the page where you want to paste it, select the entire page (will see blue outline around entire page), then use the 3 dots and the paste option.

Hi, Tina. Yes, if you do not have a path created and active then when you do the Layer->Vector Mast->Current Path step then things will disappear. The key is making sure you have those 1st steps completed. If you aren't being allowed to click on the "Selection to Path" icon under the Paths tab then chances are you do not have an active layer with something selected. Return to the Layers tab and 1) Makes sure the Layer is selected/highlighted in the layers menu. All you have to do is click on it to ensure this...so if you are working with the "Background" layer then just click on it, otherwise click on whatever layer contains the subject/item you are using to create the path/mask. Next, 2) You want to Ctrl + click on this layer to load it as a selection (on a Mac it would be Cmd + click). You should see a dotted line appear around the item/subject in the main window. You also could load the selection via the top menu, Select -> Load Selection, click OK. With the subject selected now you should be able to continue with the other steps. Paths -> Selection to path and then Layer ->Vector Mask->Current Path. Hope this helps, just let me know if you still end up stuck and have more questions. cheers, Greg

Thanks for the question, Eric. No, you shouldn't need Canva Pro for creating a custom frame. If you just follow my custom frame method, th-cam.com/video/zlIQ64HTuxg/w-d-xo.html, then when you import the PDF the area you turned into a vector mask should become a Canva frame. You could do this sort of this, but it would best be done in Photoshop/Photopea or something like Affinity Photo as Canva lacks the ability to really make true selections. Yes John, this video was recorded back in October of last year and the Canva UI is always undergoing changes, the most substantial of which came back in May of this year. The "Magic Switch" menu item how now just been replaced with a "Resize" menu item which intuitively is a name that just makes a little more sense I think. But under this resize menu you essentially have a pretty similar interface and all the same options you had under the old magic switch menu -- the ability to resize your design to different content types/dimensions & the ability to translate your text/design into other languages. Even when you're on a Pro plan I think that the Canva Billing & Plans tab can make it a little confusing...and not always 100% clear whether you're on a teams plan. I wish they would make this more clear. If you are on teams you should get some sort of email/notification to notify you of upcoming pricing/billing changes, but if you're not sure of your plan then reach out to Canva support if you're not sure and make sure you are on the plan that makes sense for you. Hi, Julie. Personally, I do not currently have a teams account, but, yes, I believe that is how it should work. When the team leader shares a folder then the other team members should be able to see it, add to it, and work with folder designs/elements....but, the team leader usually has some level of administrative control in terms of folder permissions (what team members can and can not do) so just make sure you review sharing settings. Also of note, Canva did just recently announce a pricing change for teams account. This is probably something you are aware of already, but if you need to get up to speed with the upcoming teams pricing change...I just posted a new video to this channel a few days ago. Hi, Shanice. If you want to create multiple frames then it's really just a matter of creating a vector mask for EACH item/area you want to become a frame. If you are trying to have those framed positioned in space relative to another object (example: frames on a Christmas tree) then you could, of course, position each individual frame after the fact, but a smarter workflow would be to bring the Christmas tree image into Photopea (if that's where you are creating the custom frames) and then creating each vector shape with the relative positioning you would like. Then, export the file as a PDF with the tree image and vector masks that will become frames all a part of it and turned on/visible so that when you import it into Canva then the frames all come in along with the tree image with the relative positioning you wanted. Hopefully this makes sense. If you need me to work an example for you then just point me to a starter image or share a Canva template file and I'll try to work an example when time allows. With the magic grab tool you could grab different subjects and put them on separate layers (to the degree the tool is able to extract each object), but unfortunately there's no easy way to automate the process and have it do this all at once. Depending on the layout/complexity of your design and the objects in question, there might be a faster way to do this with other software. If the workflow is followed then it should work and create a frame in almost all situations, however there are a few instances (with very basic shapes....maybe a heart) where it could fail and just return a solid color object to Canva in the translated PDF. If you still need help and want to share the specific example (you could share as Canva template file or share a file via google drive, dropbox, etc.) you are struggling with then I'll try to find time to take a look when I get a chance and see if I can offer further help. If you are a FREE Canva user then you can either use a website like remove.bg to remove the background of an image (that will become your frame) or you can create the selection using Photopea's selection tools. In other words, downloading a transparent .png from Canva doesn't have to be a step in your workflow. And then there's no need to import a .png back into Canva, you are bring back in a PDF that you exported from Photopea and this should work regardless of whether you are using Free or Pro Canva.
