I'm not a fan of Halle Berry or Howie Mandel but I just watched Howie Mandel discuss this incident in an old Howard Stern Show interview and it gave this clip a real interesting context.
And I wish Howie would've stood by his joke and not become an apologetic mess. I don't actually know what happened regarding the incident in question but this interview has a gross, phony vibe to it, that's for sure.

She was in the midst of s trial for her mistake and also her character. ...How on GODs earth does that scream victim? ( that implies she was completely void of accountability) YET, if you RE-watch, she never said claimed she was a victim, but, but a person in the midst of the consequences of a mistake cane also be dealing with anguish. Halle had to get 22 stitches from the crash, the woman she crashed into had a broken wrist among other injuries, she simply said, it was a hard thing to rise above considering it happened so recently, and that she came there, feeling safe to discuss career matters and not horrible mistakes she made in her life. Anyway, somebody buy me some Chipotle I got you.
