I can't believe still nobody talking about the auto exposure difference between normal and dlog. This device exposes perfectly for your face in auto mode while you are in normal color mode but it screws up while you are in dlogm mode. The dynamic range is actually better in auto mode and noırmal color mode because some kind of computing is being involved(like iphone) and both your face and shadows are being exposed. However if you choose dlog-m it tries to expose like a log but with a 1" sensor it screws it. In most cases i see underexposed faces. Yes you can manually expose but good luck without any histograms etc and a small lcd screen. For broll purposes dlog can be used but in my opinion this device has amazing auto exposure in normal color mode for vlog or talking head shots. Try it yourself. Put it on normal and dlog ..try the auto exposure. The normal color/auto expose combo makes miracles with great great dynamic range and it still is 10 bit color data there!
If you tap your face in d-log m in auto exposure mode, it will kinda expose your face better. Kinda. But like you said, it’s not as accurate as normal. 🤙🏽
@@TerryWarfield yep and it is not doing the same magic while you are in dlog profile. For vlog purposes I love the auto exposure because it shifts the exposure changes very smoothly.. Actually better than my Canon and Sony pro cameras. So if you are walking while talking and the light changes you don't need to worry about smoothing the exposure at post with tons of keyframing etc. That's a point and shoot camera and it should be easy to operate and auto exp + normal color is exactly like that. I also don't like the idea of using those tiny fingerprint magnet nd filters(for vlog). Because hey you are vlogging.. there won't be that much motion and no need that extra hassle with tiny filters. But B-roll is another story. Yes you can use dlog and nd filters for that if you really want to. Just my 2 cents.. I love my pocket 3 because it is super easy to use. Point and shoot great 10bit videos. Great channel BTW. Cheers.
Exactly my question. So for vloging you just use the normal mode all the time whenever the camera is your face or in front? I can't understand how the colours will look if I film myself talking in standard mode then make a few b rolls in d log and try to make these videos the same ...helpppp..I may just use standard colour for a few videos and see how I like it. If it looks good then why change it.
@@lifetimestoriesphotography I am using almost always the normal color mode. It's still 10 bit and you can grade it. I use dlog if only I will need to match the footage with another pro camera.
Considering how muddy and muffled the audio on the Dji Mic sounds when clipped to the chest I totally understand why you’re holding that mic up in front of your mouth - doing a bit of EQ clears it up like I showed in my video on it, but getting better, crisper audio right off the bat by holding it makes everything easier in post :)
Bro, you have taught me more things about the Pocket 3 (and filminm in general) in under 10 minutes then others take hours to go through! You've earned a new sub!
Nice one Terry. For me the biggest tip there was the 'take your time' one. Slower the better for me,no jerky movement and pan nice and smooth to get better results.👍
it's really difficult for me to take my time when I'm out and about they're always other people in the way, traffic all sorts of things that you don't immediately expect.
What about internal noise reduction ? My experience for now is that noise reduction at 0 and sharpness at 0 are horrible in situations where a lot of details are in the frame like shirt canvas, small grids even close-ups of the skin - parts of it are flattened and parts are too sharp. So I will start using -2 for noise reduction and -1 for sharpness like you said. Also, I noticed huge pixelisation when filming uniform backgrounds like slightly underexposed sky or wall, specially counter-oriented from the Sun. Pixel chunks are huge and can only be removed with reducing noise in post.. Another thing is frame drifting when I put the Osmo 3 on a tripod and using regular video. If I need 100% stationary video, it is almost impossible the gimbal to be stiff and rock solid right away.. it drifts a bit for 30s until it stops randomly. Why they did not implemented some sort of lock ALL button, I don't know.. Compression in slow motion mode (100-120fps) is just hiddious, quality is so reduced in 4K that even resizing to 1080p is still visible lost of picture quality. Basically, 100-120fps are not usable even with ISO50 exept you want 480p video.
Glad you talked about face tracking. That works best if walking out of shot but just standinh in one place and talking to camera, it really isnt needed. As for dlog, the free Osmo lut for the pocket 3 does an excellent job of colour grading.
Very cool tips . Just got mine yesterday still to unbox it . Was so confused between Sony v1 or canon I finally took dj3 creator combo because of the mic and complete package

Hi. I like your videos very much. You are a real, down to earth person. Only criticism I have is you sometimes talk too fast lol, I have to rewind and replay. Also, could you go in to a little more detail/depth when explaining, for us that are at age. I'm at a age when everything is not easily absorbed as it used to be when I was younger and my brain was like a sponge. Thanks, and keep up the great work. 🏴
Good info. I love my pocket 3 and there are times I use the ND filters but usually I don’t really care for them. I want it to be a quick camera that I use on the go and for quick content. The ND filter gets in the way of that plus you can’t really see the EV in the screen anyways. So if I have to use my phone to monitor thrn I’d rather just use the phone instead. My real work I use all the rules. For fun on the go stuff, it’s usually auto everything.
I feel that! There’s times I just flip it to auto and let it rip. Sometimes I feel like if ima go thru all this set up I might as well just get out my bigger cams
I was considering buying the LUT pack for my Premiere Pro but im no pro at LUT´s. Do I have to shoot in D-log with my Pocket 3 for the LUT to work? Also, there is a strange thing recently in PP where my HDR footage gets Super blown out when I go to export, so I have to go back into project and right click on the files in project and enterprit the footage as Rec.709, will this workaround effect the LUT if I apply them? Could you do a video on how to actually use a LUT in PP for us beginners?
I am new to video editing, I have recorded my daughters first school play but the problem with the footage is that I had auto white balance turned on, and now when watching back the footage it is constantly changing because the auto white balance keeps changing as the play scenes go from dark to light to dark. Is there a way to edit this to post to minimize or eliminate the auto white balance adjustments?
First of all, I was going to ask if this was shot on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, I could easily believe if this was shot with something like a sony A7S3 or FX3. You hit the nail on the head with the tracking, if you're doing a talking head all the movement is super distracting.
Bruh have you seen your profile pic? Look like you got a haircut with a. kitchen knife and you got the worst outfit on I ever seen 😂😂😂😂. Man go take you and your 4 subs and go make you some videos instead of hating on others
I paid what I liked. I use it the way I like that there is no right or wrong for you to point out. BTW, your video image look terrible on my professionallly calibrated 43" monitor.
regarding your video title: YOU'RE USING YOUR DJI MIC 2 WRONG! it's the same stupid thing, which all the TicTocers are doing with a lavalier mic. CLIP IT TO YOUR SHIRT! 😉
Brilliant film Terry. No nonsense straight up film with the detail I need. Just one point of slight confusion for me. I totally get why you would turn tracking off like you did at the start for a piece to camera, but does the focus stay locked to you without tracking on?
