I got banned from Lyft as a driver when a passenger assaulted me and I used a taser to stop it. They basically said defending myself was a violation. They wouldn’t even cooperate with law enforcement when I wanted to report the assault. They never banned the passenger.
As a former Lyft driver, that Nebraska bit was quite satisfying. 🙏 I once drove 25 minutes for what I _hoped_ was a 3am ride to Atlanta airport. Turned out it was a 5-minute cigarette run in Forsyth County. 🤦🏿♀️
I was on one of those 3-streak things where you get more money if you do 3 straight rides. I did the first one, then the 2nd one was far away and down a long dirt road. So I get there and no passenger. I wait the alloted time. Then they take me off the streak even though it wasn't my fault the passenger didn't show up. I tried calling, couldn't get through. What a load of horse crap. Never drove for them again. I then drove for Uber. They were better. But when I did my taxes I ended up making about 1/2 of what I actually thought I made. These companies shouldn't even be existing. Making less than min wage? Yeah okay. No thanks.

Ghost jobs. Or you didn't past the checklist on the resume and their internal checklist. Ghost jobs are a means for companies to get real world data on the current job market. Using this data to determine what people are willing to accept as pay and what sort of skill set they can purchase based on their application. They can then use that data to reevaluate their spending or treatment of their employees in those positions. It is also a means to hide nepotism or cronyism by pretending they are giving everyone an opportunity to be hired or promoted while rewarding those within their inner circle. For those in that department that desperately need more help, the company is showing they are trying without having to spend the money on extra employees. Leaving those employees to be overworked and never compensated because they are salary employees.
I am so glad that I found this, you are absolutely brilliant Ben. Thank you. Edit: I thought this was just ripped from an actual interview that prick did and you edited it, but then he thanked you for the water? Was it just a happy coincidence that business insiders interviewer was named Ben or did you really interview him yourself? Either way this is just perfect.
Oh my Fing God!! What I find interesting about this, is that business owners have managed to make tipping part of the culture. The culture that helps and pay the wages for their employees. What a beautiful concept make everybody else pay for my employees. I am still a tipper because I know people make the dick squad. However it still pisses me off that I have to subsidize employees wages for somebody making millions and millions of dollars. Don’t get me wrong if I have to make a choice I’ll always take my driver!!
Yeah, that's how they do. Leave it in the hands of the "employees" and the people who use the service. Then sit back and watch. Interestingly, the original Uber CEO did not want tipping to be a part of the experience, and that set a precedent of people not tipping their ride share drivers. People are more likely to tip the person who brings their pizza than the person who delivers their body safely to their destination of choice. I know pizza is good, but still ;)
Ben Palmer I used to waitress and it was based on effort. Now it is shared. No incentive. The idea was hey you are exceptional I’ll give you a tip. Now it’s shit are you making a living how much can I spare. Except for people who never think about it. Ahhh they must be getting a great wage if they don’t want us to tip!!!
I was half expecting "John Zimmer" to be driving a Lyft fare while doing the podcast. Ben: "Wait! Are you driving a fare right now?" JZ: "Yes. I'm completely hands on. I don't ask our independent contractors to do anything that I wouldn't do." Passenger: "You missed the turn! I told you that you shouldn't be on the phone while driving. Are you a moron!?" Something along those lines.
I can't use Lyft anymore because I read their updated terms of service. It basically says you can't use their likeness in a way they don't like. I'm not signing that bs. Uber still works for me though
Zee Trip here in Albuquerque,N.M. mebbe they are part of this pretend taxi scam, too. Drivers can't make enough to pay their taxi rent. Churns drivers. Wait times? Don't ask. Computer communication only. Q while waiting 2nd hour? Too bad. Stand and keep waiting.
I can see a near future version of this that uses deepfakes for the voices to add another level of messing with the corporation. Use the Lyft CEO's voice against him.
In my area Lyft is much more expensive than uber. I only use these services to go to the airport and lyft wants over $80 while uber only asks for $50 depending on the day.

The random shot at Dollar Shave Club was hilarious! Fantastic job Ben.
What makes Ben extra funny his his monotone voice, his blank facial expressions, and his plain look and resemblance to Gilligan sells it.
“The driver will be taking them to the movie” 😂😂😂🤦🏾♂️👍🏾
clicked on this video and IMMEDIATELY was served a lyft ad
This reminded me of GTA VCPR. Great job with audio production. Cant wait for more Hope This Helps podcast cease and desist letters.
