Easy way to find out if a poor cable or weak charger is the cause of a slow charging phone or tablet. Find the components that will give you the best charge.
I tried every thing from these videos without success, I opened up a new battery charger and what came with this was a new Samsung charging cable, the fitting was tight and went in a lot more snug than the last cable that the fitting was very loose, can say it works just how it did before.ps a tighter fitting I think made all the difference here, thanks for these videos who put there time out here and try and help us, 👍👍👏👏

Glad you mentioned not to use car chargers to charge also, makes sense; my car charger chargers super slow. I bought a DC current cigarette lighter charger with a wall outlet plug on it that puts out 120volts. Much faster! :)
Thanks Johnnie Boy, It's harder to find a car charger that works as good as the OEM wall chargers but they are out there, look for ones that will charge 2.1 amps or more.

Short answer, it's probably your battery. They lose capacity over time. TLDR - when a battery is empty it takes all the amps it can but as if fills up, it slows down and takes less amps until the very end of the charge it's hardly taking any at all, the charge rate slows way down. If your battery is "old" it may be full at 80% but your charger is trying to trickle in energy to get it to 100%. At some point it will charge forever.
Hey! When shopping for a new cable we can't test them though.. I only found some baseus models saying the max A they support.. The one I was checking out says max 2,4A for the 1m one and 1,5A for the 2m one... Does this mean that if I use a charger with more amps they will be truly able to draw that much each?? Any other brands you know that say how much current they support?
Good question. Long version - It has been rare to find a cable with an amp rating, this is changing because of the new "PD standard" for charging. How many amps are used is determined by 4 things, the battery - if it's mostly full it won't pull many amps, the charging circuit in the device they are designed to only allow so much in and so much out, the charging circuit in the charger also limits it's output and finally the cable that connects them. The amount of amps going through the system is limited by each component - while charging the smallest one wins. Most quality cables will handle 2.1A no problem, I have seen PD (they are still USB ) cables that claim 3A. Short version - Try looking for PD compatible USB cables.

@@alexisfairo your welcome,. yes PD is only USB-C, both the device (phone) and the charger have to be PD compatible for it to work but when it does its great. My Samsung phone is a couple of years old and it has that feature. for some reason it's not well known.
The output voltage of the charger HAS to match your device (usually 5V) the amperage can be higher than your device needs. I usually buy 5V 2.4amp chargers and they work with everything I have. You can find the output voltage and amperage if you look closely at your charger.

I am not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how to measure the amount of power that is being drawn by the Arduino or how to measure power draw/load using an Arduino?
Bob Christy I want to measure how much power theres left in the powerbank, if you use normal batteries you can do that if you measure the output voltage and then you know how long they will last and so on, how can you do that with powerbanks? Now I understand. Yes, just like "regular" batteries you can measure the voltage (then you can make a good guess on how much power you have) in your power bank IF you can get access the to battery inside your power bank. Most power banks use 3.7V Lithium batteries connected to a boost converter. Since the boost converter always tries to keep the voltage the same you can't take your measurements from the USB connector You have to connect a wire (actually 2 wires + and -) to the battery leads inside the power bank. I also recommend using a voltage divider. I actually did that exact think with the power banks I used in my USB power cord video. It works. Hope that helps.
I've got a 65 watt fast charger for my OnePlus 9 phone. I have the Ampere app and I've been trying to measure the output of the charger. Can you explain to me exactly the readings I should be getting? I mean the max output of the charger is 10V=6.5A so does that mean I should be getting a constant reading of around 10V and 6500 mA on the Ampere app or does it not work that way? It seems my mAx voltage doesn't go over 4.4. I have the top of a line 100 watt charging cable.
That isn't unreasonable to expect, but it's not true in this case. Your phone can't handle (65 watts) 10V and 6.5A at the same time even if your charger and cable can supply it. Your phone is probably more like 15 watts. But keep in mind your phone can only take that many watts when its about dead, if it's 80% full it may only take 3 watts. So the Ampere app shows what is actually passing through the system at that time, not it's potential. Also keep in mind 1v at 5A is the same 5 watts as 5V at 1A

@@djrutherford3926 the max output of your charger may very well be 65w, the charger sitting next to me that I use for my phone is 100w, but the charging circuit in my phone can only handle about 18w at best. There are charging protocols that exchange messages between charger and device to figure out what the best volt and amp combination is for any given state of charge. These standards have names like QC2, QC3 and PD, they have been getting better every year, just a couple of phones ago the charge rate on our phones was 2.5w (5v and 500mA) So why have a 100w "charger"? Because it knows all the charging protocols and can charge my laptop, tablet and power my soldering iron

You don't need the original charger, I just suggested you use it because it is usually a good one. This method will work with any charger and cable. The goal is to help you find if you are getting a good charge and to compare chargers and cables you have. Testing like this is not dangerous to you or your device.

If your battery no longer charges to 100% it's most likely that your battery is starting to fail. You can test your charger and cable by using it to charge something else like your phone

I assume when you said your friend used your charger and it worked fine that he used the charger AND your cable (the video shows what a huge difference that can make). So if you know the charger and cable are good that pretty much means the problem is your battery, charging port or charging circuit in your device. 9 times out of 10 it's your battery
I just recently fixed my galaxy tab 3. I replaced the charger port because the old one didn't work at all. It was turned off since 2017. I fixed it to give one of my nieces a birthday present but it charges really slow. I don't know if it's because of the battery or if I misplaced the charging port. If you have tried several different chargers and cables and got the same readings from Ampere then your battery is the most likely culprit. Rechargeable batters can sometimes be brought back a little after they sat a long time by fully charging them, draining them charging them . . . 2 or 3 times. The difference can be noticeable but not huge.

Unfortunately if you have ruled out the charger and cable the most likely issue would be with the battery, there is a very small possibility it could be your charging circuit (in your phone) but odds are it's the battery. if it charges but doesn't last as long as it used to, that would also point to the battery

tabi, I'm not sure I understand your question. Did you try swapping cables between your two chargers? If you did, did the problem follow the cable to stay with the charger? Or maybe you are asking how you find a "good" cable? let me know

Well, I tried all of my cables. I had 4, they all charged at under 300 mA. And adding onto that, I even went out and bought the most powerful, best, shortest cabled, and good charger. And it STILL RAN at around 200 mA. I think something is wrong with the plug of my IPad. I might even need to get a new one..
Sorry to hear that, there is also the possibility your battery is worn out. If you have a known good charger and cable (tested on another device) and you still have slow charging it could only be the charging circuit or the battery. Both are inside your device and hard or impossible to change
My tablets original charger is slow, and my USB charger is slightly faster.. Are there any fixes? When I use different cables they are practically the same speed of the charge, slow.
If you have tried several chargers and cables including the one that came with your tablet and the charging speed doesn't change much then there probably isn't much you can do. Either your battery is worn out or your tablet just seems slow compared to newer devices like your phone. How many mA are you getting when you charge?
my original charger adaptor got smashed cuz I dropped it from the balcony of our house, so I was forced to use a Samsung adaptor instead. Thats probably the reason why my ipad mini was charging slowly. Thanks for the advices💜
It's not really a Samsung or Apple thing, it's all about the little numbers on the charger (amps), your iPad wants more amps than the charger is providing. Look for a charger that can do at least 2.4 amps (2400mA) and use your original cable

It could be your charger or your cable. Use a friends cable or charger with your cable/charger and you can tell which one is the problem
