It's so amazing having so many great golf coaches. I've been watching you a long time Clay and man, my game has come sooo far in the past few years. I so much wish I could've had access to coaches like yourself back in my 20s because I wasted a lot of time swinging like s#$t and hacking and slicing. I'm 39 now and my ball striking has just gotten awesome. Thanks so much for your content.
Clay Excellent video. My perfect swing trainer didn,t have resistance cord to pull down from the top of back swing. Only on take-away and follow through.Drilled a hole to put resistance cord on top.Has been very helpful. When pulling down must use legs first before upper body starts.Creates a lot of stored energy. My seven iron increased from150 yards to 170 yards. My knowledge of the golf swing isn't bad , but your videos always have something that you just never thought about to help your game.Your instruction makes it easier to improve at this game.
hi mr.ballard. thanks for the video. i have been watching your clip since 5years ago. i have just one question for you. in your case, where is your swing speed come from? hip speed or arm speed? i used to swing my driver 105mph with huge upswing but it makes my head tilt toward left knee side so i tried my swing short, and i don't tilt my head anymore but now i can swing only 95mph. pros like you and tony finau can hit the ball over 300yds with tiny upswing. i wonder how you do that. and how do you train yourself? you are the most reliable coach on youtube.
There is a course available to our All Access members of our site that covers this very thing. It's called the 20 Minute Distance Fix. Played yesterday. I'm bombing my drives but they're flaring to the right. Trying to get the wrist timed right is the new challenge. Lol now I'm hitting my SW about 140 with this extra speed. I still have zero touch so that's another thing to worry about once I time my wrist. Thanks Clay you have helped make golf really fun.
This is awesome. I had this very thing happen to me yesterday. Started out bombing and by the seventh hole I couldn't hit it out of my shadow. Knew it was from lack of self discipline but if I had that I wouldn't have begun to suck. Not sure I've ever had a tip land at such an appropriate time. Thank you. Its spot on.
My knees aren't as good as they used to be. I have started to take any feathering out of feet to allow a turn . My downfall comes after that taxes my knees too much but it is what it is.
You did a great ball striking video with JT with a drill where you are punching the ball with reduced back swing. My ball contact has improved out of sight! But I'm having trouble with ball contact when I try & do a full backswing. Any suggestions? Thanks Clay!
I'd record my shortened swing and make note of where my club is and then also record my longer, full swing and see what varies between the two at the corresponding positions. You could also look into what's plaguing the full swing if you have a consistent miss, flaw, etc. and attack it from that perspective. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor
Thanks Nate. Great advice! Doing that punch drill I'm hitting the ball in the middle & straight so it goes a reasonable distance. Realised I had never hit an iron in the middle before! It's helped me with fairway woods & driver too.
My pleasure! You could also use foot spray powder on the face of your clubs and identify where you're striking the face. If you have a consistent miss, like say on the toe, then work on making contact on the heel until you start striking it in the middle. You may even have to really exaggerate like hitting off of the hosel or the toe if you're miss is on the heel to make this work. Best of luck!
Roughly 80%. This video has an animated figure of how the weight shifts throughout the swing as well as going into detail how the weight shift works: th-cam.com/video/b-l_4-pzRFI/w-d-xo.html Play well! Nate | TSG Instructor
Please include the vertical red line to show the weight shift to the left through the finish. Consider including a horizontal line to show the weight shift up and down or maybe the center of gravity.
Hey clay me again, when does it feel like your shifting your weight forward in your swing? I can see when you’re doing it but what’s the feel for you? When your hands are about shoulder high?
You want the weight to shift back to your lead side somewhere when the hands are around the head during the backswing and then once you make the transition from backswing to downswing, your hips start to open followed by the shoulders and then the arms. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor
The only part we could rotate is the spine. Other parts of the body work in an up-and-down style. Precisely they work in a twist-way with front side goes one way and the counterpart in the back goes the other way. Up-and-down caused by one side converges to make the other side diverges. So the concept of rotation only could be applied to the central part of the body/legs. So no more shoulder rotation and hip rotation, please!
Absolutely awesome compilation of videos to explain the details of the downswing. I’ll be referring back to this many times.
Glad you like it. Play well!
You have a beautiful golf swing Clay. I enjoy watching it as I learn me a great lesson. Thanks. 💪
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thans a lot for another great lesson.
Many details explain so that viewers understand why we have to do.
My pleasure!
Great video, thanks for braking it down with the split screen, made it easier to understand.
No problem!
No beard and titleist gear - oldies but goldies from Clay
Haha! 😂 It always interesting to discover how we change over time. Play well!

It is interesting to see that you had a video on Jordan Speith swing analysis more than 7 years ago with Rotary Swing. Time flies by.

Can you do a tutorial all focused on what the wrists are doing during the entire swing? Love your videos, they are super helpful.
The wrists store and unleash power. I think.
Clay - great video! What percentage of your weight is on your right side in the backswing before you transition?
Roughly 80%. This video has an animated figure of how the weight shifts throughout the swing as well as going into detail how the weight shift works: th-cam.com/video/b-l_4-pzRFI/w-d-xo.html Play well! Nate | TSG Instructor

Yes, right around shoulder height. Play well!
@@TopSpeedGolf thank you, you as well!
It's almost that time! Just 1 more month!
Best of luck!
Good morning
Hi! Play well!
Does downswing starts with turning hips?
