  • In this video, I show you how easy it is to create a Motion Activated Alexa Routine using the Echo Glow (amzn.to/2VXBKW2) and Philips Hue Indoor Motion Sensor (amzn.to/2UrQEDl).
    This is a specific example I use in my home, that you will either be able to use yourself or tweak for your specific environment.

    I watched this hoping that I COULD use my Philips HUE motion detectors with ALEXA. I have recently read on the Philips / Signify site that the Philips HUE motion detectors are NOT compatible with ALEXA. I was very disappointed. They work perfectly with the Philips Ap. That's why I was surprised to see this Video showing you got them to work as Alexa triggers. I tried it myself. I followed the bouncing ball of your video okay. Routine created successfully..... but doesn't work. Alexa is not receiving triggers from my Philips HUE detectors. I'm thinking the Philips site is correct. But why are they working for you? A mystery. Have you got your detectors associated with any Accessories ACTIONS in the Philips HUE App?

      I wish I could help. You are not the first to report this behavior. I shared everything that I did in the video and it still works to this day. I have two similar automations - one for my office and one for the upstairs hallway so I know when my child is out of bed.

    What is the name of the app you used. I searched Amazon digital assist and didn’t find anything close to what you used. Thanks for the video

      Try searching ‘Amazon Alexa’ on your App Store. I don’t say Alexa very often in my videos to prevent the device to be activated. Thank you for watching!

    Do you need to have the Philips Hue hub when using this sensor?

    • @LuminousMatrix
      @LuminousMatrix  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I am using the Hue motion sensor that does require the Hub. I should have mentioned that. Thank you for watching!

    What would happen if the sensor continued to detect motion for more than 15 seconds (lets say someone is dancing in front of it)? Would it turn the light off and back on again every 15 seconds or would it keep the light on as long as it is detecting some sort of movement?

      That's a good question. The way I have it configured, it would probably keep going off. Thank you for watching!

    When I click on lights and power, I can only set the brightness and color. I can't see any of the settings like "mode" and I can't find Siren. Are you using a third party app, not just Alexa, to do this routine?

    • @LuminousMatrix

      I am using the Alexa app for iPhone. I’m not sure why the settings aren’t there for you. The setting for mode is there as of this morning. Are you looking at routines or just the light itself?

    This video is great I was able to set up the routine initially but then now that I got my echo glow I can’t seem to get it to work. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Is there anyway that you can help me?

      That’s odd. I use mine daily. What issues are you having?

      @@LuminousMatrix are you just using a hue light with it and is it the outdoor sensor?

    • @LuminousMatrix
      @LuminousMatrix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I am using the indoor sensor from Hue and the light is actually an Amazon light designed more for kids but does a great job with this type of automation.

      @@LuminousMatrix I've been trying to set it so when motion is detected at my front door, I receive an Alexa notification. The trigger of the Motion Sensor detecting movement doesn't work. When I manually run the routine, I receive the notification. And my default motion sensor/light settings still trigger.
      EDIT: Unlinking my Hue from Alexa and then relinking it seems to have fixed the issue. All good now. I receive an Alexa Notification to my phone whenever the motion sensor facing my front door is triggered.
