Im 49 now i syarted fiahimg at 10 after seeing john wilson first ever programme catching roach on anglian tv.i was hooked and went down my local pond
What beautiful fish. John Wilson is one of the reasons I got into fishing. So looked forward to each episode when Wilson was on TV weekly... When you had to wait a whole week to see the next episode!!

Lovely little pit that one, was once on the Dereham & District permit. Then owned by a local builder called Marcus that had a very small syndicate (of which I was a member). It's now on the Billingford lake complex. as far as I know never belonged to John, his lakes where behind his house in Lenwade.

Great video and stunning fsh! I remember finding the Secret Lake and walking round it from “Passion for Angling” fame - it had a very similar vibe with all the weed and features. I’ll never forget the day as if hunted it for so long, that day I found a farmer who let me walk across his fields after confirming that I had indeed found it and he remembered talking to the production team when Bob and Chris were fishing it. It’s a shame programmes like Passion and John Wilson’s shows aren’t made anymore as they were so inspiring for us when we were kids!

Great video, i also remember watching 'go fishing' as a kid and have always wanted to fish there. Just to point out with the plastic ban most lakes are inforcing now the bait company im involved with 'Tails Up' Ash Bradbury has come up with a plasric alternative called the Cornz, a great product which can be soaked in liquids well worth a look 👍👍
The third fish has to be one of the best looking carp in the country. One of the other lakes there has some absolute bangers in too.
John Wilson and his early series got me back into fishing, he caught something special, his presentation and the way it was produced and edited were something special for me. Something I have not seen again until Passion for Angling, and the following programs Catching the Impossible, were for me the fishing I wanted, Screaming Reels was ok but a bit too brash and in your face, others may disagree. I wish someone was still making a program in this format, the current crop are better than nothing but do not capture the way time seem to pass when fishing, a couple of hours can pass in an instant.

It's called John's lake but he didn't own it. His own fishery was at his property in Lenwade.

So can I ask, how did you get round the crayfish during the day, was it by using hard baits on clear areas or pop ups?
Used a balanced hard bait on the small clear areas and took off all tungsten putty. Kray fish love putting for some reason.
Surprised carpology didn't research a little better, as another person commented this lake was never owned by John Wilson, its currently on the billingford complex, I used to fish it when it was ran by dereham and district when the carp were first introduced. Would love to know why carpology think it was once John's?
I was privileged to have walked around that lake & met the great man at a few fish show's what a more epic lake to have caught a carp from more lake should have a blue print to how mange & plan a lake 🎣👊
Nice video. But that was never John Wilson’s lake. His own lakes are at his former home in lenwade. The owners here, at Billingford, had permission to use Johns photo for advertising. They continue to do so.

Yes anyone can fish here. This is just one of many lakes on the complex. Billingford fishing lakes
@Mark Foster Angling this lake was never owned by John Wilson? Although called the John Wilson lake by current owners it was once ran by dereham and district angling club, I remember the stocking of the carp without correct permission in the early 90's and caught many of them.
The lake was never owned by john wilson so not sure who said it was.
