Oksana has definitely improved. I love her lines and her arm movements. and she is in control, fast moves, beautiful and look how worked out her body is. Totally flexible and great turn out. Also, she is more comfortable on stage than she used to. She used to look apprehensive, now she is more gracious and affable. Oksana is great as Raymonda, more musical and gracious. It is so sad that so many people despise her for old events and everybody is stuck to the damn documentary. Like if she was the only one going through that. And yes, it has psychological effects that reflect in someone's performance. You have no sensitivety at all. Alina Somova was out of control in the beggining of her career and no one hates her that much, she is becoming a favourite. What is your problem with Oksana?
only one that she is one awful dancer and doesn't deserves high rank and main roles on mariinsky stage ,and much more worthy and talentated girls are buried in corps or low ranks.
if you have enough knowlege about MT, you might know how great MT 1st soloist should be. Novikova or Kolegova are great Raymondas who have steal of pointe work and impeccable techinique. this one has not. if you check out her Raymonda clip precisely, she had too many beginner's level mistakes. comparison between Somova and this person is not fair. Somova was blessed with hyper athleticism but her ex-coach expolointed her in a worse way. under the tutelage of her new coach, Terekhova, she came to know how to control her hyper quality and began to move like a poetry. Skorik has had the best coach from the get go and could never improved well. i say this by watching her latest Giselle.
She is not an awful dancer at all. Oksana is not at the level of Lopatkina, Vishneva or Kondaurova, but she is not that bad guys... you make her look like a monster. Maybe she has been promoted too soon, I agree. I like her regardless.
Joana Amoroso obviously l have nothing against her personally but confirm my opinion that she has ranks and roles and fake medals in contest only due help of influencial people exactly as her equally untalentated boyfriend askerov ,what l frankly can't suffer is that really talentated and worthy people has not that same chances, despite would be far more worthy
Joana Amoroso please have a look of the numerous clips of askerov and skorik in last moscow ballet contest and compare with performace and level of many other contestants ,lf jury would have been right they would have been kicked out at first round ,but askerov's dad is a main politic and oligarch of arzebaijan so.............l hope one day he decides to buy a private theatre in BAKU and appointing as absolute star askerov and skorik that finally would stop disgracing great mariinsky.
She is beautiful, people stigmatize her after the documentary.... it's easy to speak out when you're not in the other person's shoes. To me, she is just perfect.
A very shakey start to her career but you can't dispute that the girl has a dream body for ballet !! Just gorgeous !!!!! I think she ll be amazing given a couple of years ......
she has a ballet body but unfortunatly she dances very badly and she is no longer a student and already had teachers and coaches of the hightest level ,so that she can seriously improve ,at this point is not probable
No offense to those who criticize (after all it is your opinion), but who are you to criticize? You dance in Mariisnky? You are a first soloist? You are trained in ballet? You dance on a famous company? Have danced the role of Nikiya (which is super hard)? Have you ever done a major role? I think not!
IS NOT NECESSARY being a former dancer to have opinion and knowledge about ballet was clement crisp a leading dancer ? or clive barnes? l don't think so .remember that on this forum there are commenters with decades of experience in watching ballet and their opinions are perfectly beliveable
Norma Mimosa you don't have to tell me about how tough ballet demands. i know very well about it, probably more than you. contrary to your judgement, i don't favor a very few dancers on MT company. i like most of them and i try to find good things in what others say that's bad. but a few dancers came to get on my nerves with their disastrous or out-of-style execution again and again. i criticize them over and over not in the favor of my favorite dancers, but because i've been afraid if we surrender very easily, their management comes to collect incompetent or out-of-their-style dancers who can bring more financial profit from their sponsors or from their publicity. and it has already began with this person and the greatest tradition in the ballet history is already in a danger of extinction.
Norma Mimosa what l really can't undrestand is how a person like you that clearly has a certain knowledge in ballet can appreciate that travesti .did you ask again to bnesque to perform basket dance? l can't wait to watch it LOL
Norma Mimosa and you are not in the position to command what i should say or not. if you are payed by doing things yo have to absorb the criticism and become better. that's how it works in the professional world. and i've already moved on. you are the one constantly complain in here and make me come back.
Beautiful and Graceful!!💖Skorik has come a long way and here she is Nikiya third to Zakharova and Lopatkina in my opinion perfect lines and precision gorgeous feet Bravo!!😄
I actually love the way she dances. She looks inhuman with her long extensions and I can see why she got promoted. I think what she lacks in face expression she makes up for in the way her emotions show through movement. Just my opinion.
Every dancer is different and you all should learn to accept it. Sure Oksana isn't the best but she tries. And it's not just her it's the teachers that are raising her to be this way. The poor soul has had enough already. Ballet isn't about comparing or competing nor criticizing in a bad way. She wasn't a student at the Vaganova so her technique is a tad bit different. Just leave her be! If you don't particularly like her, then just don't watch her!
also other girls from perm as for ex kunakova or tckechinkova had great success in mariinsky the problem is not her basic training (she had great teacher as lidya ulanova and madame shakarova) but the lacks of true talent.
pediatrapaola Soooo, why dont you upload a video of yourself showing us what true talent is all about? I can't but notice how true talented you speak about ballet! ;)
valmarie ramos because l am a man of 60 years old and a death of nikia performed by me would not be so interesting l am afraid .people already has to watch awful skorik's one ,also mine would be too much.
Awful?! What video did you watch??? She is stunning!! Beautiful interpretation and absolutely gorgeous lines of the body. I enjoy watching her grow and mature in her dancing.
She dances the movements beautifully and is doing everything as perfectly as she can. Clasping her hands, look up, jump, bend backwards, everything is perfectly controlled and flowing. Once she gets her acting skills equal to her dancing ones she will be phenomenal, but at the moment she looks as though she is dancing the role and no-one has told her the story of what the ballet is about, or what is going to happen in this dance.
In my opinion, Oksana definetly have great technique and a body that is built to dance, I've seen few people with her capacity techniquewise and she reminds me a lot of Zakharova in how she dances, which is a good thing. Though what I think she's lacking in is stage presence, which unfortunately isn't always something you can work on. I definetly think she is a good dancer, but she's not actually being a character, she's more dancing Nikiyas dances than actually being her. Looking forward to see more of her though.
It's the director's fault. If she had been promoted a little less sooner, she would have had time to learn about the roles rather than be thrown into the spotlight too soon.
Watch her dance the Grand Pas classique with Askerov, and you'll also see what a prodigious technique she's begun to develop. The Skorik hatred is asinine, the mentality of your average balletomane is just atrocious.
I see your point, but I must disagree. As someone who studied ballet intensively for years, and under russian instructors, we were encouraged to always keep striving for the perfection we seek. That type of drive and self-motivation is what would keep you strong in the industry. But they also warned us to realize that there's always room to improve as dancers. Technique can become stronger and cleaner, and musicality and artistry can always improve as well.
Deborah the hatred levied by certain balletomanes on these sites is just atrocious and speaks far more of their fractured mentality than the dancers themselves.
Promotions in a company also do not always mean you are "at your peak". They differ depending on what the director sees in you. Some people perceive specific dancers to have more potential than other dancers, whether or not they are already advanced. What some directors see and want from a dancer cannot always be summed up in technique or experience. Just food for thought.
sincearly l totally agree with mrrossfk l am kirov fan since early 70's and saw all main ballerinas from then till now and never saw a so bad one in mariinsky at that (supposed) level
She’s beautiful, I just wish she wasn’t quite so skinny. It’s time for the ballet world to evolve and change the way it treats females! I’m a male ballet dancer and I can safely say the super skinny girls are often NOT the best partners! Why? Because they have less strength which means less able to hold themselves up and jump, and jumping is very important when lifting a girl cuz if she doesn’t jump, lifting is much harder! The best female partners are ones who are strong and healthy.
I really do not understand the reason people use to deny somebody's right to criticize Skorik's dancing just because he/she is not a Marinsky soloist or some higher ranked dancer. It's like you can't say an egg is bad because you are not a hen, and you don't know how hard that hen tries to lay a good egg, I know, I know, the hen still needs to mature, she's just a baby, she needs more time to improve egg-laying skills...
Norma Mimosa as usual l wish to remind that l have nothing personal against that girl my contrary opinion is ONLY concerning her qualities as ballerina .
pediatrapaola Yeah, but even if you don't hate her personally, it seams you are "cyberstalking" her dance performances on the internet in a rather obsessed manner. I wonder why? The only "reasonable" cause would be if you were paid by her rivals to diss her publicly. In that case you would have a very unpleasant job, but well, we all have to feed ourselves, and these are hard times… But if you are just somebody who loves the ballet and you really hate her dancing so much, why would you invest so much of your precious time to search every video about her and comment again and again how much you dislike her? It seams rather unhealthy to me. And not very clever, sorry to be so blunt. If I don't like the literary style an author uses to write books, I simply won't read a second book by the same author. Problem solved. You should try that approach!
Linzerkipferl absolutely l am not paied by her rivals the fact is that l am kirov fan since early 70's and saw all the really great kirov ballerinas and the presence that poor girl is a shame on that sacre stage she is absolutely awful ,l am sorry but really worthy girls are buried in corps while this fake star and her equally awful boyfriend fake principal askerov have rank and roles due not clear reasons ,every knowledgeable ballet lover see it and blames it ,l am not the only one .this is kirov stage some very different is needed.
quite frankly i did all i could to avoid Skorik in their tour. i carefully bought tickets when i heard Somova was pregnant, then Tereshkina. But when I got to the theater to see the rare Osmolkina Swan Lake, this person was there and they made no refund. Of course I bought gala, and this person danced disastrous Corsaire which Tereshkina showed her world best brilliance a few years ago. I got angry because I feel like I am stuck with this person.
I understand this comment, I buy ticket for bayadère in Mariinsky without know the cast 2 months before. I arrive from Italy and I really hope not to see Skorik like Nikia.. Maybe now she is better, but I have not always possibility to go to Mariinsky and I want to see a True principal. At the end was Somova :) and I found another ticket for the following day with Novikova, I was totally satisfacted, only sad that I couldn't see the third time the ballet with tereshkina...
Lapidu Na Bo you are 5 years late, it’s not popular to hate on Oksana anymore :) never understood this hatred in the first place. Even in this old video she’s beautiful. Nevertheless, 5 years have passed - Oksana is a gorgeous prima now. She has acquired perfect technique and gained artistic skills. Btw her artistry is very subtle, it’s not just facial expressions but the way she dances and the energy she has
First of all.... do any of you rude people even dance? I could swear NONE of you could every perform up to this quality. So just keep you negative comments in side! She's already much better than you so its time you've learned not to judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. And its rude of you to even doubt that the MT made a bad choice...hmm.. maybe that's why YOU aren't the director! Also she better than you just in the fact that she doesn't go around judging people! The only disgrace here is YOU
as long time audience member ,l started watching ballet since late 60's and saw exactly everything since then till now,l belive to have knowledge and experience enought to have the right to an opinion ,and as me many others ,in this case my opinion is that she is dreadful.sorry but is very clear to my eyes
Probably not the best to watch after Kristina Shapran's performance in the same year.... she's got beautiful lines and arms but that sorrowful yearning and heartbreak isn't the most evident here...
Well she's definitely improved... There is nothing too offensive in this video. She is missing a certain je ne sais quoi for sure though. I hope she improves even more. I remember when Somova was the whipping boy of Mariinsky, and she is much better now. I want Oksana to do well and grow into her soloist status as soon as possible.
She dances tolerably well but she doesn't get the role. That's the biggest problem of her dancing, she is just playing a random Indian dancer, not any specific role. She may get better when she is older and able to understand the role better and also her arms are very very tense half of the time
I really can only see an issue with musical phrasing here. Some parts were totally out of sync and just didn't seem to go well with the emotions in the music. She was out of place in a lot of her jumps, didn't sustain some movements, that sort of thing. Otherwise...
i believe most Skorik admirers are 'Beautiful Tragedy' bandwagonners and don't know how great Kirov/Mariinsky Nikiyas have been and should have to. Before stating comments they should see Komleva, Mezentseva, Makhalina, Lopatkina, Somova or Tereshkinas. In this complexed choreography, they just stay in their character and their body exude music. Those are Kirov/Mariinsky ballerinas. This one isn't.
Norma Mimosa no, from same and frustration. she's definitely better than you and might be the best in your city, but not in Mariinsky. you don't seem to know how great Mariinsky ballerinas have been and should be, you have to see Nikiyas i mentioned above. stop posing, stop posing is not ballet, you have to move in the flow of the music. that's the beauty of Mariinsky ballerina.
Norma Mimosa please jealousy about what? she is the less talentated dencer that l ever saw in mariinsky since early 70's when l started watching mariinsky perfs ,she is shameful on that stage .
pediatrapaola i miss-typed. 'from shame and frustration'. i felt great honour to be able to watch Kirov/Vaganova/Mariinsky stage. this one destroyed it.
Norma Mimosa i don't think you are very familiar with Mariinsky dancers nor am i in person. i've just seen them pretty long time and had some occasional chat with some of them. that's it. some are rather close to the dancers, most are huge denial of this person. the Mariinsky does not promote dancers without amazing talent, really? then explain about less talented Gumerova, Gonchar, Kasenkova, Matvienko et all. and i noticed Skorik aroun 2010, hear 3rd year, as a corps girl always missing few steps or late in the flow but she got many soloist debuts and i happened to have to see them, all miserable but she kept promoted. i had been patient with this person but at sometime i snapped. and i can compare this person to early years of the ballerinas i mentioned. Mkhalina in third year was the most classy Dryad on the film. Vika was a solid lead in Paquita. Alina even in Safranova class nailed extremely strong Gamzatti variation. i did not witness those brilliant moments form this person. long preparations and hyper extended poses with graded down steps, no musicality. that's all.
l am a long time ballet lover and kirov fan and l am infact very angry to see that legendary stage disgraced due the presence of that impostore ballerina that was surely pushed ,but by the money of her sponsors ,slowly improving? this is kirov stage a supposed first soloist should have no longer necessity to improve since long time .please be serious.
you called me again. absolutely not exquisite, because i can't feel genuine lament of Nikya, just see exaggerated mannerism. an excellent technician? no. i admit Yeveteyeva did a titanic work to make this person improve. but an excellent technician can go directly into arabesque from the sitting position, or who can nail penche arabesque completely on pointe or fluidly nail penche arabesque if going a terre. this person is not.
This question of why we watch Skorik when we think so poorly of her is an interesting one! I asked that of myself before clicking play, and my answer is: curiosity. I was curious about all the levels on which a performance can be bad: technique of specific steps, emotional content of moves and gestures, fluidity of phrasing, making dramatic connection to other dancers, etc. Skoriks flunks on all levels so quickly that even my curiosity couldn't make me watch past min. 3.
She is AMAZING! However, I do agree with the comments that say she needs to work on her acting. She has exceptional technique, but the acting is lacking.
I won't comment on Skorik's technique, others have already done it. And anyway, for me the ability of a dancer to illuminate the choreography and draw me into the story is more important than how long she can hold a balance or how pointed her feet are. That being said, Skorik's interpretation must be one of the emptiest I've ever seen. Yes, she does all the steps, or rather strikes pose after pose in a mechanical and mannered way (no musical phrasing), but she hasn't the foggiest why she's doing them. And I've looked at least 8-10 Skorik videos because I didn't want to form an opinion based on only one viewing - all her roles are devoid of emotional content.
+Lila Claire You seem to be confused. Criticism and hate aren't the same thing, regardless what the adoring fanbase of a dancer may think. Criticism is evaluative. I am not interested in a dancer's private life, in the brand of coffee they're drinking, the color of their underwear, or the last sob story they're selling to the media. I'm only interested in their artistry - if there is any artistry to speak of.
+Lila Claire Should we pity her? I felt some empathy for her too when i first learned about her story, but i was disgusted when i watched A Beautiful Tragedy AND found out about her being so highly ranked in Kirov nowadays. How come a person who used to hate ballet so much makes it into her career? I wonder if she doesn't feel any regrets when she steps on Kirov stage knowing how many ignorant empty heads her movie has brainwashed into thinking ballet ecuals extreme depression, anorexia and verbal, physical aggression. A Beautiful Tragedy was cruel, cruel towards Perm School. Skorik is such a miserable person, well perhaps she never knew another way of living. You have to check out Russia Today's documentary "Ballet, Sweat and Tears", if you want more from Skorik's tragedy
+pediatrapaola You do know that A Beautiful Tragedy was made to disgrace Russian Training right? I watched the whole thing, and was not convinced a bit. They might have shown Sakharova at her worst, but I know that the teachers there are passionate about their students and try to get them into companies such as Bolshoi and Perm. Most students like Menshikova, loved it there, and were like the Yulia Stepanovas of Perm School.
How is she terrbiel? Offcourse she needs to work on her acting skills but thats most young ballerinas. And her falling? Have you seen zakharova or Somova? Seroiusly? She is talented and just needs a little time to fully develop. I mean, compared to what she was last year? come on
She is absolutely provincial ( as we say in Russian )! And in the first part she is just dead! No emotions! Disgrace for MT! Mr Gergiev, you are losing ballet!
This girl makes some worst interpretations i've seen in my entire life O_o Worst Carmen, worst Medora, worst Kitri, worst Nikiya now... this is truly unique.
+SugarTomAppleRoger He's certainly not! But he's not a principal dancer for Kirov Ballet is he? I never understand that excuse of an argument, "when you'll be able to do the same come back and criticize". I can hardly put on a double pirouette en retiré but that doesn't mean i don't know how a double must be performed. Also Skorik is not THAT horrible, she's just so boring to watch and unmusical as hell. Shouldn't be a prima ballerina.
sincearly l always thought you are crazy ,but always l recognized a certain taste in ballet matters but if you start praising this awful travesti caricature skorik really you bacame very delusive l must start thinking you are ONLY crazy.
She is simply perfect. Everyone could see it from the beginning. Queen.
Beautiful dancer with great body line .Congratulation,BRAVO!!!
I think she is a beautiful dancer!! You people are so mean
I agree! This was absolutely beautiful - Very graceful, very expressive!
she's fantastic
totally disagree with many.she is a fine dancer and deserves to be a soloist.

She seems like a very tall dancer, perhaps this is just because she is so slim, but anyone know her height?
5'8"
sublime
She's definitely improved but still has difficulty acting and such.
will write privately and explain something more

your comparation of skorik with a boiled egg is terribily suited
Norma Mimosa as usual l wish to remind that l have nothing personal against that girl my contrary opinion is ONLY concerning her qualities as ballerina .
Norma Mimosa ¡Tienes toda la razón!
pediatrapaola Yeah, but even if you don't hate her personally, it seams you are "cyberstalking" her dance performances on the internet in a rather obsessed manner.
Linzerkipferl absolutely l am not paied by her rivals the fact is that l am kirov fan since early 70's and saw all the really great kirov ballerinas and the presence that poor girl is a shame on that sacre stage she is absolutely awful ,l am sorry but really worthy girls are buried in corps while this fake star and her equally awful boyfriend fake principal askerov have rank and roles due not clear reasons ,every knowledgeable ballet lover see it and blames it ,l am not the only one .this is kirov stage some very different is needed.
how old is she?
So cold......Bnesque is right. totally right.
she is awful .
same here.
Quite liked this performance actually - much better than the cringe-making interpretation of Giselle's mad scene I was watching her do yesterday.
quite frankly i did all i could to avoid Skorik in their tour. i carefully bought tickets when i heard Somova was pregnant, then Tereshkina.
Btw her artistry is very subtle, it’s not just facial expressions but the way she dances and the energy she has
@Sima RAFT,
I didn't want to watch the tragic Train Tragedy in Spain. But I did. The same with any Oxana skoric post.
PREEEEEEAAAAAACH!!!👏🙌🔥
Probably not the best to watch after Kristina Shapran's performance in the same year.... she's got beautiful lines and arms but that sorrowful yearning and heartbreak isn't the most evident here...
its not a performance... just an exercise...some kind of training...how she happens to be a solos
than somova?when?
Well she's definitely improved... There is nothing too offensive in this video. She is missing a certain je ne sais quoi for sure though. I hope she improves even more. I remember when Somova was the whipping boy of Mariinsky, and she is much better now. I want Oksana to do well and grow into her soloist status as soon as possible.
the only genuine lament is mine when l have to watch her on mariinsky stage .
hy how are you? is our rudolf ok?
finally someone that is not blind ,but you are too kind imo she is awful and stop.
She dances tolerably well but she doesn't get the role. That's the biggest problem of her dancing, she is just playing a random Indian dancer, not any specific role. She may get better when she is older and able to understand the role better and also her arms are very very tense half of the time
mr. rossini has fabulous Jardin up;oads!
Norma Mimosa please jealousy about what? she is the less talentated dencer that l ever saw in mariinsky since early 70's when l started watching mariinsky perfs ,she is shameful on that stage .
me to answered
pediatrapaola i miss-typed.
ARE YOU BLIND?
She is AMAZING! However, I do agree with the comments that say she needs to work on her acting. She has exceptional technique, but the acting is lacking.
and grand jeté en avant with Vaganova epaule not grand jeté a la seconde.
+Lila Claire
You seem to be confused.
+Lila Claire She might indeed improve. As a principal she certainly won't lack opportunities or good coaches.
+alecsia96 that fake useless awful liar documentary made the fortune of this mediocre dancer
She has improved so much...she looks better than Somova, and she needs some acting coaching ASAP .... She still beautifull
but better then before
How is she terrbiel? Offcourse she needs to work on her acting skills but thats most young ballerinas. And her falling? Have you seen zakharova or Somova? Seroiusly? She is talented and just needs a little time to fully develop. I mean, compared to what she was last year? come on
Сорри , танца нет .
Набор движений.
Эх, да ещё кожа и кости.
Мне сложно восхищаться этим .
Да , труд...... Но не более.
personally just walk ,but have not the arrogance to disgrace the sacre stage of mariinsky with that fake dancing.
She is absolutely provincial ( as we say in Russian )! And in the first part she is just dead! No emotions! Disgrace for MT! Mr Gergiev, you are losing ballet!
imo awful is more suitable
This girl makes some worst interpretations i've seen in my entire life O_o Worst Carmen, worst Medora, worst Kitri, worst Nikiya now... this is truly unique.
awful as usual ,she disgraces great mariinsky .
Horrible. Unmusical, choppy, mannered and technically weak. It's disgraceful that the Mariinsky has now promoted her to principal.
+KK Really! All I can say is that you must be very very good indeed.
+SugarTomAppleRoger but is right what he told she is awful
+KK agree she is awful
+SugarTomAppleRoger He's certainly not! But he's not a principal dancer for Kirov Ballet is he? I never understand that excuse of an argument, "when you'll be able to do the same come back and criticize". I can hardly put on a double pirouette en retiré but that doesn't mean i don't know how a double must be performed. Also Skorik is not THAT horrible, she's just so boring to watch and unmusical as hell. Shouldn't be a prima ballerina.
alecsia96 imo she is completaly horrible .
THIS ONE and confirm my opinion .she is the worst mariinsky dancer in this moment.
may be she will improve before her pension LOL
she is awful .what l have to see on this sacre stage?
sincearly l always thought you are crazy ,but always l recognized a certain taste in ballet matters but if you start praising this awful travesti caricature skorik really you bacame very delusive l must start thinking you are ONLY crazy.
Just a Comedy
