    I do have to say it's pretty ballsy to disassemble, and solder outside. But man youre video was extremely informative and straight forward. Easy to follow even for a beginner.

      I had to reread that I better understand what your saying lol. Yeah bro I do everything outside for the lighting seems like no matter how many lights you use its never as good as the sun and lucky the deck has a deck above as well so even if it starts to rain its pretty safe out there I would love a fancy lab to work in but we only got a one bed room flat haha thanks for watching

    Great to see so many people interested in the 360 right now and also what's possible with RGH but I used one for like a year until last autumn season and then I noticed microsoft went and banned my retail console (a special edition one I've had since 2010 and made most of my xbox memories on) possibly for sharing the account I was mainly playing on as an ip ban or they just did every console regardless so that has put me off doing it completely even though I had helped between 300 and 500 people with unlock alls for free on the older call of duty games so that they can start playing if they've come from playstation or lost their old accounts etc

    • @TheDiWHYGuy

      yeah bro got to get them while they are cheap ;) I get that sadly got to stay off line with mods running not worth it you can use shadow servers but is it really worth it...

  • @HighFidelityFox
    @HighFidelityFox หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    as an RGH seller who has modded hundreds of these... love the video.
    Only problem is: DO NOT encourage people to remove X-Clamps like that.... i am surprised you didnt break your console doing that as well
    Also tip: you dont have to remove the sticker to disengage the clip, you can just stap a metal pin trough it

      It's definitely not ideal but a lot of people (including me) have used that method successfully. It's ideal to get an x clamp tool but if you're just a hobbyist who's going to only ever do one you can save a few bucks.

    It really isa pretty easy mod to do if you know how to solder. Everyone says the hardest part is the tiny connections on the back and the masking you have to scrape off but I struggled the most with the ground when you're wiring up the nand. You really need a hot iron with a large contact to get solder to flow on that pad.

    Hello!
    Awesome tutorial!
    It was really easy and super fun to follow (I'd say the best I've seen)
    Two questions:
    1) By decrypting the nand, I believe you mean - just put the CPU key into J-Runner and click "Create XeBuild Image"?
    2) Taking the power cord out seems super important in a few of these steps, otherwise the console can crash and get an hardware error?
    Really new to the Xbox 360 modding scene, so I find all these tutorials very helpful to watch.

    • @TheDiWHYGuy
      @TheDiWHYGuy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks mate, yes that's right J-Runner needs the CPU key to decrypt the NAND in order to build the new one based off the old one.
      Yes that's also correct when you unplug it and plug back in it resets the chips so the new code is loaded so the next step will be possible.
      Also if you mess up your NAND J-Runner has a working folder where your OG NAND is copied to so you can restore them back to factory and try again, good luck mate thanks for watching.

    Nice to see there are still people modding Xbox360.. My Phat XBOX360 (the OG 2005 model with j-TAG mod that I did yeaaaaaarrrsss back because it also had the OG dashboard) had RROD couple of days back, so I bought an S today and already had a couple of picos laying around, so the RGH3 was peanuts. I now need an enclosure for the Phat HDD (500GB), for now I just removed it from the Phat case and put it in the Xbox360 S with some stickytape on the HDD lol. So didn't need to do the aurora and such. Instantly working this way. So didn't need your video but just wanted to give my "support" by commenting :D :P

    If anyone is curious about temps if you delid the chips and put liquid metal, you can get around 54C° on CPU and 50C° on GPU with it. Mine is like that at least, which is quite good.

    • @TheDiWHYGuy

    • @beetheimmortal
      @beetheimmortal 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@TheDiWHYGuy To be honest, at this point, I don't think a water cooler would be really necessary, unless you want to overclock the thing pretty heavily or something, though I'm not sure that's possible (I know it's possible on PS3 though). These temps also hold up while playing more demanding games, like Gears of War 3, and there is practically no difference between the idle and the under load temps. All in all, I'd say delidding is definitely worth it. Oh, and I should probably add that mine is also a Trinity, the exact same model as the one shown in the video.

    • @TheDiWHYGuy
      @TheDiWHYGuy  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Your right water cooling is most likely 100% unnecessary will just be for the challenge and looks the only benefit I can think of is might make thing a bit quieter and yeah like you say could overclock it if possible I'll defiantly look into it could be interesting for testing purposes. Nice best model if you ask me, cheers mate I look forward to the delid and at least with the Trinity its only one chip...

    Just a tip: About a year after finishing one of these builds, I discovered an overheating issue. It turns out the heatsink is poorly designed. If you flip it over, you'll notice there's only a small area of copper, which doesn't fully cover the CPU, leading to poor heat dissipation.
    To fix this, make sure to apply thermal compound evenly to the top of the CPU. I know this is unconventional, but it works for this console. I also used MX-6 thermal paste because it performs better at higher temperatures. Finally, increase the fan speed by 30-50% using the DashLaunch homebrew app.
    Hope this helps!

      @@TheDiWHYGuy Thank you. I was always terrified of performing an RGH as a kid. With the skills I have today I’m gonna give it a go. Thanks to your very detailed video and engaging humor I have all the confidence in the world. Also the tip you gave in the video on disabling Xbox live connection answered another question I’ve had for a very long time. I was always scared I was gonna receive a console ban.
      Would you recommend removing my main profile before doing this or is it safe to use my Xbox live account as long as I disable Xbox live?

      @@vinniequodling1678 that's awesome I'm sure you will nail it 😁 you can use your profile but don't sign it to Xbox live for this I would make a new profile and account and use shadow servers because once your online there is still a chance to get band so it would suck to loss your main account with all you achievements etc maybe I should do a video on how to get online working...

    Even though I've seen the rgh install done before a few years ago by someone else, your version was very interesting however I would just get someone to do it for me. I am however potentially interested in fixing my non-slim console or possibly others which have had RROD however I hear there's a manufacturing fault where the cpu or gpu solder messes up over time or the motherboard cracks under repeated temperature changes from play so maybe it's just best to only run slims regardless of if you play normal or RGH. The xbox sound seems to be duplicated and slightly echoed in the video but wasn't too distracting. As my other comment which hopefully shows said, it's maybe the best option to keep them offline unless you're really careful and take lots of measures to protect your other consoles or gamertags being in jeopardy

      @@TheDiWHYGuyplease don't recommend that to people... That just causes more damage. The failure is from faulty solder bump underfill on the GPU - reflowing does nothing to fix it. The only fix for that is to replace the GPU itself.

    • @Harmonic14
      @Harmonic14 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jasper consoles are perfectly reliable - slims aren't the only option.
      The motherboard doesn't really flex unless someone has ruined the console by doing a bolt mod on the heat sink... RROD on older consoles is a GPU defect and is only fixable by replacing it.
      Also, using a stealth server and not running any homebrew apps (including Aurora) makes the risk of a ban extremely low. You won't risk an account ban either - just the console. Even then, just flashing a new KV gets you right back online
