7 yrs' ago we purchased 110 acres of bare land with a creek & a few trees. Leaving behind a comfortable life isn't as easy as it seems, so easy to get caught up, super charged & inspired by watching someone else's already accomplished dream patch...
Would I do it again? in a heartbeat! best thing we ever did, if you don't have the money to pay someone else to do everything, be prepared for back breaking work, sweat, tears & exhaustion, especially when you start with no structures, etc
We have been able to turn our place into a productive, abundant place crowned with breath taking views, & a home
We have used & continue permaculture methods in the majority of our work.
I love these videos, I know how important it is to live from & with nature, Pete's videos are truly the next level
We still work, although I have been able to scale right down from 6 to 3 days a week
The benefits of living on the land, outweigh all of the comforts & money from our 'previous' lifestyle, you don't realise, until growing your own food, watching those sunsets, feeling that earth between your fingers, eating fruit picked from your tree/bush, your paradise suddenly starts to brim with birds, insects & amphibians, an awesome healthy eco system starts to evolve, you even start to appreciate your first ever chickens that also do so much to help your land
Sorry for long essay, but for anyone thinking twice about making the change, do plenty of research first.
Another key factor, if you have a lazy partner or someone who doesn't share your dream, this could be a 'wait a minute ' moment.
You have to be on the same page, this life is truly incredible, I'm proud to be able to leave a legacy to our g/kids in which it won't consist of cash or car, but a living, productive system, with awesome memories attached..
Thanks Pete for the continued inspiration 🇦🇺

My grandfather was a farmer but lost it in the great depression so went into the army. I hate that happened on one hand but on the other hand if it hadn't I wouldn't be here as he was married to a woman who left him when he lost everything, enter my grandmother. I just wish I'd had more access to them after my parents divorced so I could have learned more about tending the land our creator gave us!! Thanks for a beautiful video. God blessings be with you 🙏❤️🙏

Our Creator didn't give us anything, what we need is already here but with our idea of civilization, we have destroyed the Source of our life because we are too afraid to accept ourselves the way we are. There is no point in hiding behind materialism because sooner or later the Truth will find you. God is Love, Love is God the rest is a mere illusion! 😘😍🙏

My family came from a small town in Mexico near Guadalajara Jalisco. They farm corn at a commercial level, it’s so sad to see them destroy their soils for a commodity. I understand that commodity farming lifted that town out of poverty but at what cost? They need permaculture right now!

Ive only got 1 acre here in Costa Rica.
But i managed to grow 40 different fruit trees and veggies. i also raise chickens for eggs and meat.
It aint easy doing it all by myself, but the reward of eating that first avocado áfter planting a seed 10 years ago is undescribable.

@@eliani1326 I am a native from Panamá and my dream is to finally retire there, we own quite a bit of (Mountain land) and I would love to introduce new ways of growing food, that’s why I watch video after videos on different topics and learning as much as I can before I can fully fulfill my dream. I had a trip to Panama this year and I also had to cancel due to the virus, hopefully by next year we’ll have some kind of resolution to this pandemic. Costa Rica I believe it’s more affordable as per land prices than Dominican and Panamá; many years ago it used to be relatively cheap compared to US prices, but more people from All over the world are retiring in these countries and land prices are getting higher every year, the longer one waits the higher the prices, however, location also has a premium. In Panama you can still find $5.00 per SF, up to $45.00 or higher depending where you go.
If all works well and I can travel next year I’ll start building, we have a river that crosses through our land, that’s a big plus for water source.
In the meant time take time to learn as much as you can, and even take courses from these wonderful people who are already pioneers on this.
Here in Florida I started planting 18 years ago and it’s unbelievable the amount of food I harvest every year from our fruit trees, plants, veggies, herbs.. you name it.
Good luck and Keep on “Growing”.
Ps. If anyone is interested on buying, I have over 20 Hectares for sale.

How did he buy that property? Was it a syndication, sponsored, or was it through private financing?

That's what I want to do one day, have my own property in a tropical jungle and be a frugivore. Borneo would be good given it's the most rich tropical jungle in the world. And the immediate area around South East Asia has the most rich tropical jungle, the South East Asian jungle is richer than the Amazon which is richer than Central Africa/Congo.
Equador is high up there, the most rich in the Amazon/South America, and if memory serves richer than all other tropical jungle in Asia except Borneo, Sumatra and that Mayalan Penisula area.
Not good that Borneo lowland jungles are being chopped to pieces. The most rich forest in Borneo is right up the far north of the Island, forget the name of the area but right up there close to the top and I think just to the right. Right in that area is the biggest tropical trees in the world.
I don't know how good the jungle is but West Papua seems like an interesting area. The jungle there is probably fairly good and there seems to be a fair bit of it. I assume there is plenty of other good jungle in the Amazon/South America area. I think the north part of the Amazon is richer than the South part.

Usually I love your videos from Costa Rica. But in this one the guy is talking about his fantasies and you hardly see anything of the place.
