At the 3:00 mark... 2 iron from 263 on the back nine of a major at the Black Course... watch and listen to the ball sizzle through the heavy Long Island air... I was there and will never forget the electricity of it all... a legend in his prime. He was indestructible back then.
I remember where I was when he made this shot. I saw it live. I didn't even know anyone else thought / remembered this shot like I had. I just thought it was one of those things I happen to remember. His facial expression after he hits it is best Tiger moment truthfully.
He had 300yrd carry with steel shafts, old drivers, and no trackman to dial up the perfect spin/ launch combo. Young tiger plays today, hes in the mid to low 130s club head speed.
He wasn't any faster than the big hitters today. It just looks like it because of the poor quality and slow frame rate. Definitely not in the mid 130's lmao
i played the black course yesterday, crazy how much it’s changed since then. had a birdie and three pars, but damn that rough is no joke. ended up with a 95 hahah
@@teejay6320 Thats why fairways don't matter in us open. Thats why only a handful of people won with sub 50% fairways. And one of those people doing multiple times. Unfortunate you didn't see him play.
With his og speed and today's equipment he would be as long as Bryson but with all his normal tigernwoods iron game and putting. It would be a blood bath
@@DTB1995 people mistake being controversial for being honest... He made up alot of crap the way chamblee does although he was a way better golfer than chamblee so what he said carried more weight
yes to finish off a win, he was pissed on 18 no doubt, I live 5 minutes from Bethpage, The Black has humbled me to the core, and slept in the parking lot to get tee times lol!! what a Beautiful park! 2024 Ryder cup , I can just imagine!

What a thrill it must have been.
I've watched it 100 times and plan to watch it 100 more
I can’t imagine. That is probably the best struck shot I’ve ever seen. Butter knife 2 iron going 260 is insane
2:55 is the greatest long iron in history
I think his 2 iron at hazeltine might have something to say about that
2 or 3 iron at muirfield village was also peyyyyure
Without a doubt, what a swing. Not only that long iron on 13, but his drive on 12 after the rain delay, and the drive on 13 were also incredible.

Nah...long iron out of a bunker. All upper body strength, he couldn't really move his lower body with his stance... stuck it near the flag.
The speed he had was unbelievable

That’s why his back no more

The sound after he hit that two iron!😳
🤤
This is nuked!!!
Absolutely nuked. Although I think that was a 3 iron if you are referring to his second shot on 13
The two iron he hit is god level
Best ever!
I went out and bought a 2 iron after this round back in 2002!!! It did not sound or perform like el Tigre’s! 🔥🔥🔥
No one’s on Gods level! Com on man. Tigers the goat! That’s it.
GREAT upload. Thank you
You got it, Maurice! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching, William!
The only person i have ever seen be able to hit to greens out of rough in the US Open.
Bryson Dechambeau did it over and over in his US Open win. Nothing special, just strength.
@@teejay6320 Bryson did it once. This guy did it everytime. It’s not just strength. Ability to change attack anaglr and still flushes it
@@AB-nv7bz Think you’re overselling it dude. Lots of strong players have this ability.

Unfortunate you didn't see him play.
Especially at a track like Bethpage Black Course
Imagine if we had this tiger going against brooks, JT, Bryson and Xander... my god I would want a front row seat to that
I keep telling my buddies who are newer to the sport that it would be absolutely embarrassing for them boys today lol

@JordansTake35 Early 2000's Tiger would destroy everyone today.
What a sweet swing my goodness
Always great video but is there any way to take out anything that comes out of Johnny Miller's mouth?
But he shot 63 at Oakmont, Ed! LOL agreed, he was the worst!

375 yd drives if today
No rollout on the fairways, how a US Open course should always be!
how many can 3 putt to win a major?
How short was his driver? How upright?
43.5 inches
Wish I was 26 again
Don’t we all, pizzaburger, don’t we all 😂

Tiger being tiger
You know that three putt bothered him lol
