    I went to the Thursday round for Tiger at Oakmont in 2007. My first time seeing him up close, we tried following him around for a few holes but as usual it's minimum 3 deep in the crowd. He hit a tee shot and went into a small bathroom, my buddy and I waited about 15 feet away since everyone moved on to get a better position for his 2nd shot or near the green. He came out of the bathroom and we were staring at him, I said kick some ass Tiger, he laughed and walked away to the fairway. I didn't care, I was class to the G.O.A.T bathroom or not.

      With a stimp reading of 15 regularly. I’m not the greatest putter in the world (of course not) but 2 putting let alone keeping it on the green if I missed would be an achievement. I mean it says something when Snead joked that when he marked his ball his ball marker rolled off the green.

    It's funny that Tiger has a similar situation the year after this ('08 Us Open). He needed a birdie on the 72nd hole to force a playoff which he made on a broken leg. How did he make that but miss the putt here. I guess this one was a lot harder.

    2009 PGA obviously was first major woods lost 54 hole lead but this and '07 masters he was in final group and lost to someone who came from behind. So this was a lost opportunity. And it's a little funny Hicks' "expect anything different" call was a year after he failed after same situation- something different happened right here

    • @Matt-cr4vv
      @Matt-cr4vv ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re right would’ve been a much better call to say “wow are we shocked to see the guy who’s usually always made the clutch putts make another clutch putt because he didn’t make the putt last year”. Clearly the call focuses on the body of work of a career where far more often than not when he’s needed to make the putt he has. Even the greatest players don’t bag the win every single time.

    This tournament, in my opinion, was a shining example of golf taking "Tigerizing" WAY too far. I hate seeing the tournaments where the best players in the world WIN and 5 OVER par? I remember watching this and there were perfect shots that ended up rolling off into oblivion because the course had been tweaked so much and made nearly impossible to play. I understand making things difficult for pro players, but when you can hit a PERFECT shot, and it SILL is not good enough? I'm sorry, that's not fun to watch. It's stupid.
    It always seems to be the US Open too. I remember a couple years back, 2015ish, when even players were saying the same thing in press conferences. I think Phil was the most vocal at the time, which isn't a surprise, but he was one of the few that actually had the gravitas to get away with it.
    Anyway, I don't watch golf to watch the best player in the world get punked by the course. This was one of the worst tournaments I've ever seen. It wasn't fun to watch in the least because almost every chance for a great shot ended up being a missed shot.

      The US Open doesn’t get referred to as the toughest test in golf for no reasons the USGA prides itself on creating the toughest test possible for the worlds best players. A course playing this tough reflects the talent of the players in the field. The best in the game are fair game to face a challenge like these set ups - everybody plays the same course so it still reflects the talent in the end.
