I’m an ex Royal Navy chef, and I worked the subs and we always had to order cheap crap Brazilian beef and it was horrible, hence they blamed the chef. But I agree completely local, traceable, quality produce is how we save the planet and our local economy’s. Great channel I love food and the work and passion it takes to get to us, I’ve subscribed.
extreme cold removes intra muscular fat . so supplement feeding in cold parts of the year to keep their energy levels up is way more important than just genetics
Do a little more research on American Beef and you will see that the cow/calf operations eat more grass then you can even imagine. Then the calf gets weaned off then goes to background operations eating grass and alfalfa with little grain then the last 4 to 6 months gets finished on silage/ grain. Anyone who would cross a Holstein with Wagyu clearly isn’t looking for the top quality but quantity to sell. You would get a lot better results with Angus crossed Wagyu. Japan’s farmers agree with this and have been cross breeding Angus with Wagyu not Holstein milk cows. 😊
It's all about the availability of where you are. They are in a dairy part of the UK so it seems fairly obvious to do it this way. Provides a guaranteed and direct market for local dairy farmers for calves.

Hi, thank you for commenting and for watching the video. I'm not sure I agree it is defeatist, as that suggests our current system of high consumption is a good thing, which personally I don't think is the case. Our diets have become very meat heavy which means more intensive practises have had to develop to meat demand. More regeneratively farmed meat is what we should be aiming to achieve ie quality rather than quantity, but this will come at a compromise in terms of how much can be produced and what the cost of it will be. Meat will likely continue to become more expensive which will likely reduce consumption in any case.
Thank you for your reply. Producing and marketing beef and lamb, including breeding-stock has been my working life spanning four decades. I specialise in the coaching of marketing to marketeers across the industry. I’d be honoured to discuss further. I’d like to look you up when I’m next in Yorkshire. Kind regards.
Maybe where you're from. I know guys round here operating bull beef systems and killing bulls at 14 months and achieving 350kg carcass weights. There's going to be differing growth rates between an American Angus and British Lim or Blue
Beef production in Brazil is not in rain forest areas . Brazil keeps 66% of its territory intact , diferent from Europeans nations with 1 to 10% of natural vegetation … you should stop spreading lies and biased info for your viewers .
Grass fed beef is the best. I have tried Wagu and it was ok but not up to the level of grass fed Angus!!! I won't try it again, I feel it is over rated and over priced
I'm all for supporting our farmers, but a wagyu beef cow is a certain type of cow. And a cross bred cow with none of that breed in it doesn't make it a wagyu! By all means Create your own brand of meat but I don't think using a well known name without the actual product is just missleading the public, find a name and call it top class beef (if that is what it is), and nothing tastes better than a full grass fed beef animal. I don't like been duped into buying a certain product. Just because a NAME is attached to it. My grandfather was Canadian, but it doesn't make me Canadian just because of my bloodline unless both my parents were full Canadian. And even then it's diluted over generations, so what is a wagyu, it just means you can charge that bit more for your products. Grass fed Angus is just as good if not better
It’s called F1 wagyu and warrendale makes no secret of it so it’s not misleading F1 wagyu is still wagyu Just like a angus X is still an Angus it just is a cross. You can still use the name in it as long as you state it’s not pedigree like they said already
Hi, thank you for watching the video and commenting. Warrendale do indeed use cross breeds, but that is the case with a lot of farms and breeds nowadays as it is more sustainable and economical to use cross breeds in many cases whilst still offering a great product. I hope this has been explained in the video, but the main thing is the quality of the beef is outstanding. And you are correct some Angus beef can be very good indeed, perhaps not quite getting the level of marbling that Wagyu can achieve, but still very good.
@@yorkshirefoodguy hiya, Thankyou this backed my point up greatly 😊 Wagyu even though it F1 wagyu is still a much more flavourful and easy to eat meat. I can be quite fussy with my beef but I’ve found with wagyu doesn’t matter how “cheap” the cut is it is still very nice meat and definitely worth its money. Crossing them means that it is more affordable for more people even though it’s not in everyone’s budget it still broadens who it is available too. We may be getting some of these calves hopefully which I am excited about, went to a farm with a lot of them and the cows themselves are so calm and quiet so I phased by our presence, any that was interest just wanted a sniff. And even when one escaped it just stayed nearby where there was food 😂
You can't say it's wagyu beef when it's only half wagyu do you have some sort of certificate saying that the wagyu beef is the world's beef comes from Yorkshire
People need to leave the cows alone. They have had enough of being killed against their will, babies taken away from them for ever, slaughtered in terrifying hell holes. All for what! I have pet cows. Humans are evil to animals for the taste of the tongue. Its wrong

I've never tried Wagyu, but my cousin has. He said it's not better than Aberdeen Angus. The best meat I've ever eating is Highland beef, amazing.
Aberdeen Angus is over rated your should try Hereford or Ruby reds that's the best I've tasted
I thought wagyu cows were massaged and drank a few beers 😂

Wagyu is tremendous. Conceding that we may eat less meat is defeatist.

This metcalf dude doesn’t have a clue. 14 months is a 750lb calf. They take wagyu to 32 months typically. Bon apétit.

Wagyu means Japanese cow, and to have real wagyu you need the cows imported from Japan! Are the cows from Japan?
That's what they saying... It's a mix of wagyu and dairy cow!
ya it's speak Japanese 🙏🤑🤑🤑🤑

Canadian is a geopolitical nationality, not a bloodline i.e. not an ethnicity.
Fake Wagyu
