The only version of this song with the prominent piano outro in the mix is this one. Two other live recordings and one studio recording have Miyako’s piano as part of the instrumentation as a whole, not high. Only the solo outro is supposed to stand out. Don’t ask me, ask Miyako, she says as much in the audio commentary version. So “we” have no preference.
They practise so much that they could probably play it in their sleep, but they still get nervous just before a live show. Love them and their dedication.
Finally. I always find it a bit insulting to hear people say "Oh, what talent!". This is mastery, for god's sake. And mastery doesn't come out of nowhere. Thanky you for your reaction!
The piece Miyako was playing on the piano before performing "SwanSong" is Chopin's "Piano Etude OP10.No12", commonly called "Revolutionary Etude". Some knowledge of history is required to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song. In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was known as the 'November Revolution', but failed due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented the Etude OP 10, No. 12 in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, then named it the 'Revolutionary Etude'. Miyako composed Swan Song based on this 'Revolutionary Etude' and Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake", based on the historical background of the "Revolutionary Etude". "SwanSong" is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.
It's not right or wrong, it's just that this version has better mixing so you hear everything better 😀Regardless, this song is so good it can be reacted to twice! You are actually one of very few who speaks to the huge amount of work it takes to become this good and stay there. I can't imagine they have much of a social life outside of music, practice and more music
The Chopin Etube is considered difficult to play because it is Left-Hand dominate. Piano teachers use it to get students to strengthen their lefthand. What is also impressive is Miyako is playing it from memory.
You may already know this, Miyako the pianist started playing guitar at her 18 self teaching with tutorial books and rental CDs. The blond guitarist Midori even started at her 20 at a guitar school.
You didn't play the wrong Swan Song, just not the best version of it. Miyako killing the Chopin intro and the mix is definitely better on this version. The piano outro is mixed so much better. I know the music is great but with the lyrics up, the lyrics are quite deep. I'm glad you brought up how much dedication the ladies put in to be this good. So many reactors say, they make it look easy. Yeah, because they put a ton of time in to be this good.
Miyako is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano. She has been classically-trained on the piano since the age of 3. Miyako also composed & arranged "Swan Song" and this track is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. Throughout the song, you can hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (Chorus). BTW, the previous version you reacted to is not the "wrong" one 😅 It's just that this version includes Miyako's piano intro which was Chopin's "Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor" aka the "Revolutionary Étude". You can hear this piano piece as motifs in the main riff and her guitar solo, which to me, affords the complete experience for this track.
Add to that talent level is she can play Bass and drums. She laid down the basic Bass line for the album "Judgement Day" When they got there new Bassist Fami, Miayko had her rewrite the Bass line into it's final form. With some changes Fami made. Oh and she can sing as well. Just listen to her backing vocals in there song "Empty Daydream" The true Wonder Woman. Oh sorry no dating her! She is Married with a daughter! Sorry....
I am a 60's 70's guy and have seen everybody-every great guitar player and group. This is the first group in years I can't stop watching-just astounding talent and perfect live-what talent!. Another thing-this and Frozen Serenade reminded me in some crazy way of watching the Who do Tommy who I gratefully saw a few times {when tickets cost $5.50}}-not comparing them to the Who but more so the "story" that is being told musically and done so so profoundly and flawlessly with such feeling. It is an experience watching and hearing them and for someone who is very picky and has SEEN all the greats live thats a lot to say. They should be playing MSG tomorrow-bot sure whats taking them so long.
Great reaction. As musicians, we know there can be Huge differences in your Live performances from night to night. But, when it's going Right, you relax and just have fun - which is when you play your best. In a video, it ALL depends on the *_Mix_* . For me, the MIX in this concert is Legendary . . and the fact it was paired with a 2 hr FLAWLESS performance by these ladies is a Blessing to the World. I have Dozens of Live Concert DVD/Blu-Rays, and I have never seen a 2 hr performance as Flawless as the Lovebites *Five of a Kind* concert @ Zepp DiverCity, Tokyo in 2020. Asami wrote the lyrics based on the 'legend' that a Swan only sings once . . right before it dies. It's a call to be willing to fight for what you believe in, even it the price is high.
The guitarist/ pianist is Miyako. The other guitarist is Midori. Today (May 28th) is Midori's birthday. Another outstanding talent is Haruka(Hal-ca) of ASTERISM. Like you always say "practice hard and practice smart". I'm sure they all did that
The Chopin piano intro ties it all together. Also, this mix is better. An ideal date would be just hanging out with all of them in the rehearsal studio. I'll bring the snacks and drinks! 😉 🍿🍻
Bassist Miho left the band in August 2020, and the girls took a long break. A lot of things happened during that hiatus. Audition for new bassist. And pianist (& guitarist) Miyako gave birth to a child. And vocalist Asami also gave birth to a child. (In a sense, it can be said that they spent their vacation meaningfully.) With this hiatus as a turning point, I think they have transitioned from an era of young energy to a mature and complete band. ---------- from Nippon *This is a text using Google Translate. I hope I conveyed my intentions correctly.
The Chopin piece that opens the song lends itself to the meaning and lyrics of the song, with its placement at the beginning. Chopin, a Pole living in exile in France learned of the failed Warsaw revolt against the Russian controlled rule, hence the "Revolutionary etude."
Loved your point about the discipline and dedication it takes to play at this level. I've been playing on and off since the mid 80's and my heros were Alex Skolnick, Rocky George, Stevie Ray and Vai, but I never dedicated the full time needed play as well as I wanted. I play well enough to jam to some songs I love, but not even close to the full technical abilities of my heros. As for LoveBites, there's a 50 min video out there of them doing a soundcheck for a show in Singapore back pre-covid. It's just a single camera set way back covering the stage, no special mikes or mixes. They go through a full soundcheck that includes playing a few songs halfway through, and they sound FLAWLESS. Everyone is in sync, metronome perfect. Its almost inconceivable how many hours of rehearsal practice time it takes for everyone to be that tight and locked in.
Miyako is a genius musician. This song is a superb example of the use of a backing track. Miyako can't play two instruments at once. What she does though is bring the backing track to life at the end. You can't write in a banking track any better than how it's executed here.

Thank you for your reaction. I don’t think of the latest live of Swan Song as the ”wrong one”. There are some productions issues, imo, with the piano being too low in the mix, here I can clearly hear the piano being, a kind of, dual lead with Midori. I think they are playing perfectly fine one the latest version, just a production issue. Have fun! :)
I absolutely agree with you! Yes, talent helps, especially when you're starting out, but without incredible discipline and hard, really hard work of practicing, practicing, practicing and verifying, as well as qualifying new levels of skills - which will never come without practicing, practicing. And what about the five band members (whether Miho - "old" bass player or Fami - "new" bass player), whether Haruna (drums), whether Asami (singer) or whether Midori (guitarist - belated happy birthday on May 28th, Midori-san) and Miyako (guitarist, pianist, composer and, and, and) - I don't want to know how often they didn't want to give up everything when practicing, practicing, practicing and then found the discipline to successfully complete the practice!
The five girls are wonderful, but in the swan song, with the wonderful lyrics of the wonderful Asami, it is Miyako where she acquires an unsurpassed level and quality. A feeling that is perceived in each note of the piano, how it turns the guitar into an extension of itself....I discover myself before the goddess of ice, I love her.

Now you see why some refer to Miyako as the Black Swan. She is a once-in-a-generation talent. And of course, she worked her ass off to become this good at everything. She also plays drums and bass and even use to play one of the horns (I think it was a trombone). She could probably play a dishwasher and make it sound good.
You are dead on. Miyako learned piano from age 3 and only started on guitar at 18 (self taught). Her and Midori practice together away from the band chasing perfection for their LIVE performances. Miyako is a mother, a gear nerd (watch her YT channel where she goes nuts over even her foot pedals), a Star Wars nerd, a classical trained pianist (put out an LP of 6 metal songs she converted into classical pieces which is awesome), and does video blogs for her channel. Oh and she writes and arranges many of the songs (Asami does the lyrics most of the time), although all the members contribute to their works. That savant brain of her needs to be busy I guess. I always say she will inspire you or intimidate you to quit. However, all these musicians have the stamina that an Olympic athlete would be jealous of. Great reaction as usual and yes they are totally dedicated to their art and each other as well as their fans (Wolfpack).
Great reaction - this version is MUCH better balanced with the intro and outro than the other version with just the outro . The terrifying thing is that Miyako didn't start playing guitar until she was 19 and is SELF TAUGHT ! 😱😱😱
I've been playing bass since 1975, and the two things I see that stop young musicians in their tracks is... A: Their parents buy them a cheap guitar or bass with action so high, even a pro couldn't play it. B: They try to learn to play an instrument before learning even a little bit of music theory. That's like trying to write a novel before learning the alphabet. In my case, I faced a lot of resistance trying to get into metal bands because I was female. Glad to see all of these hard working, talented women playing rock and metal just as good or better than their male counterparts. Rock On!
Thanks for revisiting this song there are a few of their songs that do have multiple links usually the links provided are great every now and then there's one who gives you a link and many others prefer the original as in this case another example would be getting the Awake Again Live studio version of Scream for me when it's funner watching the old link of them playing in front of the crowd where Midori slips and catches herself while not missing a beat.

Thanks for your great reaction. I always enjoy it when active musicians who know what they're talking about share their experience, which helps me appreciate the songs more. In this reaction I especially liked your comments on the importance of dedicated practise - a very important point in these days where many kids are made to believe that all it takes to become a famous and successful musician is to participate in some casting show.
There's no bad version of it. But in many senses this is the more correct. On the 2023 version, they did a few wrongs. First by not by including the Chopin-intro on the TH-cam-video, then s**ewing up the mix on the piano, so at the end it's hardly heard until the band stops playing.
From one old man to another, I loved that reaction. I learned to play, lefty, right hand strung, from a chord book. Played 25 yrs in successful bands, by ear, little knowledge of what I was doing,😀
There is no shame in using backing tracks. Some bands use them too deceive (Crue). But Lovebites uses them because as much as Miyako wishes she could play both the guitar and harmony piano at the exact same time she canyt as much as she would like. Not only is Miyako a Virtuoso guitarist she is Also an Concert Pianist. What a Wonderful World.
Both guitarist start playing by 18..blond guitarist when to guitar schools..and miyako plays piano since she was young, and self taugh to play guitar by listening to old metal stuffs
In your list of things for Miyako to practice you left out her deep knowledge of music theory that needs repetition and practice when composing music (and yes: she also composes between 25 and 33% of Lovebites songs). She also plays drums and the bass (though to Haruna's and Fami's relief not on their level). She also has a family and a knack for the technical side of gear, modding her guitars to her liking. I don't know how she does it. The only explanation seems to be that she somewhere found an extra 4-8 hours per day. So while I agree that talent mostly brings you to a good and quicker start, I wouldn't dismiss it as an explanation in total. That woman has a lot of it - besides all the dedication and discipline.
The recent version isn't terrible, it just misses the intro and the mix is less than good(In fact the mix is pretty bad). There was nothing wrong with their playing. This one is the standard the other one is measured by, and it does not meet the standard.
I wouldn't say you picked the wrong one since that first reaction was to the official LoveBites' release of "Swan Song", and by choosing it you're directly supporting the band. It's unfortunate that the mix on the official doesn't pick up Miyako on the piano until the outro, and of course there's no intro solo either. This version is from a fan uploaded clip off the "Five Of A Kind: Live At Zepp Diver City" concert DVD and a great representation of Miyako's talent. On top of these she can also play bass and drums, that's why I've always compared her to the closest thing to Prince right now when it comes to musical ability/knowledge in pop music. Last year Miyako released an EP of piano metal covers of; Battery” (Metallica), “Far Beyond The Sun” (Yngwie Malmsteen), “Eagle Fly Free” (Helloween), “The Loner” (Gary Moore), “Burn” (Deep Purple), and “Addicted” (Lovebites). Finally, not sure if you've reacted to LoveBites "Today Is The Day" but there so many tasty guitar parts in that arrangement. Its a must listen, especially with good headphones and the ability to understand and appreciate how they went about with the arrangement. Also, "Signs Of Deliverance" is another track with advanced dual tapping/harmony techniques by Miyako and Midori that I'm sure you haven't seen them perform yet. Great reaction as usual!🤘
Well said, about what it takes. Talent, a great thing to have, but it won't bring you, to where these women are. You might become a decent to good musician, have nice guitar evenings with friends and become a local hero in all the pubs in your region. Putting in the work will make your talent shine and distance you from all the other musicians, or painters, athletes and craftsmen.

Thank you for reacting and supporting Lovebites, the most talented ladies in metal
Ladies and men!!
There is no wrong version of this song. We just prefer this one for the Chopin intro, and better recording mix
Yep
The only version of this song with the prominent piano outro in the mix is this one. Two other live recordings and one studio recording have Miyako’s piano as part of the instrumentation as a whole, not high. Only the solo outro is supposed to stand out. Don’t ask me, ask Miyako, she says as much in the audio commentary version. So “we” have no preference.
This is one of my absolute favourite Lovebites songs….elegant and brutal at the same time and that ending….
They practise so much that they could probably play it in their sleep, but they still get nervous just before a live show. Love them and their dedication.
Finally. I always find it a bit insulting to hear people say "Oh, what talent!". This is mastery, for god's sake. And mastery doesn't come out of nowhere.

She is mother since 2 years, kompose songs, make a Solo Piano album, Go fishing and Shopping
... and owns a dog, a snake and an Owl and I guess she has to keep her home studio clean so all her instruments don't get dusty and dirty.

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been through despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to never care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
SOLO: miyako / both

I always say she will inspire you or intimidate you to quit. However, all these musicians have the stamina that an Olympic athlete would be jealous of. Great reaction as usual and yes they are totally dedicated to their art and each other as well as their fans (Wolfpack).
Words of this song HAVE great meaning in life of good people.
Masterpiece.
What a great review!

Holy Shit is right! I haven't watched Lovebites in a while cuz my wife gets jealous when I watch them too much, LMAO
Funniest reaction to this song ever….
🤟🏻🔥Lovebites🐺Masterclass🔥🤘🏻
From one old man to another, I loved that reaction. I learned to play, lefty, right hand strung, from a chord book. Played 25 yrs in successful bands, by ear, little knowledge of what I was doing,😀
Definitely worth checking out Miyako's recent TH-cam clips sharing her writing/ recording process + check for dates in the US to see them.
I look forward to the day that Miyako is cloned or grows an extra pair of arms.
Both guitarist start playing by 18..blond guitarist when to guitar schools..and miyako plays piano since she was young, and self taugh to play guitar by listening to old metal stuffs
🐺LOVEBITES RULES🐺
She's composed about 50% of Lovebites songs with Asami writing the lyrics.
She's composing a song on her YT channel right now. Part 2 just came out.
The band got their name from halestorm Love bites
NOT SINCE SYMPHONY X HAVE I EVER HEARD ABAND THIS GOOD .....STELLAR PERFORMANCE BY MIYAKU ❤❤❤❤❤
I put LOVEBITES in the top 3 metal bands on the planet, along with Symphony-X and Dream Theater.
The recent version isn't terrible, it just misses the intro and the mix is less than good(In fact the mix is pretty bad). There was nothing wrong with their playing.
This one is the standard the other one is measured by, and it does not meet the standard.
yes you can play piano. but probably not like miyako !
Miyako (piano) is married and has a kid...still I see you point.
LBs 💪💪
You got to check out Aldious ReFire.
Aldious is the original All Female Metal Band, whose success opened the door to all the bands that followed.
