Kolkata is not only the safest city of India for last 3 years (with crime rate lower than many European countries as well!), but also you have seen how the people and the infrastructure is. Now some cow dung people will come and spread all kinds of misinformation like saying "all crimes are not registered/reported" or that "Kolkata is dirty" (which is as per their daddy's survey, even though Kolkata had best AQI in June 2024) or some other stuff. But you can check any other foreign tourist's video about Kolkata and they call Kolkata th3 best city in India. Even Seara has called Kolkata as the city that looks like Europe.
How did you meet up with these locals? I got ripped off even though I was speaking in Bengali because they picked up on my accent and knew I don't live there. By the way how did you survive the food? It is strongly recommended not to eat food that is not cooked; ice, unpeeled fruit/vegetable and never wash your mouth with normal water or drink local water. Most Bengalis themselves always complain of stomach issues as a result and these days a lot of the middle class affluent families use filters at home which i still boiled anyway. The humidity was such even close to November, I barely drink water and yet I was going through 3L per day.
