Years ago, my brother took me on a tour at his job at Agilent, in Denver. He demonstrated the eye diagram. Lots of expensive equipment on the tech support floor including competitors equipment.

And you thought you'd never have a use for the Fireberd! Would have thought the BER on the box could introduce errors and the eye would have formed as you normally see them displayed? BTW, caps on the way to redo the Wavetek; I have another different Wavetek sweeper so figured 50 would probably be enough! LOL!

I normally would say can't have too many caps, but I have too many. Often not the right ones though. 🤨

Hello: If you click on measure - analyze. You will find the the EYE ANALYZE button. Hope this helps.

YES! I never saw that one. I can't seem to get it to work though. It must expect a particular waveform.

Were you able to get it to work on your scope? I can't seem to get the function to work. It turns on, but it doesn't do anything except display a message "Eye analyzing"

@NetLogix, Inc. Nope I never tried to get this to work. I'm thinking you need some kind of high- frequency RF signal for it to work.

Hey, how do you use the hdmi port on mso5000? Can it be outpit to hig display? Can u demo it plz?

Press Utility->I/O-> HDMI to enter the HDMI setting menu. Press Output continuously to enable or disable the video output.
ON: You can connect the instrument to an external display via this interface to better observe the waveform display clearly from the external display.
      OFF: disables the interface.

This is good for showing off the Oscilloscopes utility, but it's not the real HF-UHF "Eye pattern" that is critically important.
The tell is that all of your signals displayed are nearly square-waves - "Eye-pattern" development usually starts with ovoids, and then in a revised design it tries to approach a wide-open pattern, but never a square-wave - else the data rate is too slow for state of the art - and you raise the clock even higher until the eye squints

Your scope can easily handle this 15Mhz=66.6ns data-rate - place "the box" inside of the rise and fall traces, and accumulate ANY/every crossing there - move cables around, heat and chill TX and RX, Tappy-Tap-Tap it, etc.
Modify the design to make that box as big and large in area as you possibly can W/O anything poking your eye out.
      #Signalling !
