      october 2024 according to the release notes. testing 24.10 and they've already fully removed the kubernetes. I was preparing to switch my storage (ubuntu w/ zfs) over to trurenas and ran into these issues. gotta wait til october (or at least august depending on their progress) before docker support is implemented well enough.

      Completely agreed. I asked about how to point an app to an HTTPS certificate as certain functions wouldn't wouldn't work without it. Their reply was that I needed to establish a local domain with my own DNS server and reverse proxy instead of being able to just point to an external file path or upload the cert into the container's persistent storage. It was such a non-answer that I was forced to abandon a solution that had worked for me for years and come up with something new.
      This is all not to even mention when TrueCharts broke updates on every single one of their apps and their reply was basically "not our fault, figure it out yourself".

    • @TrueCharts
      @TrueCharts หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Just to be clear:
      Our project is building helm-charts, SCALE-Apps where mostly just a side gig generated from those Helm Charts.
      We're still very much active on building helm charts as always ^^

    • @TrueCharts
      @TrueCharts หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@the117spartan It was a non-answer indeed, but the full answer is basically a "won't-fix"... We've close to 900 Helm-Charts and we use Ingress and cert-manager for certificate handling as it provides standardization.
      Implementing your requested feature, would involve manually implementing this on all the hundreds of charts, one-by-one. Thats not feasible.
      However: Technically on normal Helm, instead of SCALE Apps, it could be very-well achieved by anyone!
      Its mostly the UI that would block you from doing thing :)

      @@TrueCharts Not sure who's gonna use TrueCharts moving forward. I used it for the past 6 months, and during TrueNAS updates, your Discord staff were just passive aggressive and rude at every point and turn. I gave it an honest shot even despite every reddit post warning against it as it *'breaks every update'* - I had hoped that wouldn't be the case anymore, but with painful and ridiculous migration guides for a simple "app" and total annoyance at any question asked in your Discord, I could not be happier to hear TrueNAS is implementing native Docker apps. TrueCharts has been a miserable experience, and I hope you guys figure something out on your end. User experience-wise on Discord as well.
      Good luck, and goodbye.

I mean they deleted hundrets of kubernetes apps without warning and against what they said because people did not agree with them. This is absolutely crazy and puts the whole site on a blocklist for me. This is rediculess and nothing i would ever have done. Quite the opposite i would have most likely just had it like it was , not updated anymore and given people the oppertunity to mirror it and continue work them self. .. but just deleting it because people where critical of their decition and behavior .. thats right out crazy... i mean i expect more from kindergarden children .... A few weeks ago I had a complete failure of my truecharts, after I figured out what was going on and where scale was headed, I set up a docker jail and migrated all my apps to docker. It took me a lot of troubleshooting hours to get to that point, but it was worth it up to this point. Hopefully migrating back to native docker containers isn’t too painful when that comes down.

      From my perspective, over the past few months, their images were trash anyway. You'd update something, and the next day, it would want to update with the same exact version and checksum, again. Simple things like database passwords were changed from default or unset, breaking the other chart that depended on it and refusing to start the container.

    I'll say this about TrueCharts - There were some good apples in a barrel of rotton apples. I'm still a beginner when it comes to this, and while most of my interactions with the people on the server were unpleasant, there were actually a handful of people who were really nice and patient with beginners like me. And to give credit where credit is due (speaking purely as a beginner), setting up the TrueCharts version of apps to work was much more straightforward language-wise. Can't speak for the under the hood stuff going on about storage, but at least I can say that's why I gravitated towards TC first.
