    Gordon should absolutely revisit this restaurant. 20 years is a big milestone, especially for a resturaunt that was struggling and was then helped by gordon!

      The idea behind Kitchen Nightmares is to help restaurants that are on their way out. As in, out of business. Many of the restaurants featured are in debt, sometimes in the millions of dollars. So, even with a revamp of the menu and refurbishing of the dining room, the debts are insurmountable. Banks have very strict rules about loans, so it wouldn't take much for them to shut the business down.
      Luckily, for the Lido, they appear to have very affluent regulars. Coupled with the long history of the restaurant, its reputation for a great dining experience, the management was able to keep the place afloat while they made the changes when they did.

    What I loved about Lisa was that she was eventually open to implementing Gordon’s suggestions but having the foresight to realize not all of the changes would go as planned, so she had his right hand man rework some of the dishes the previous customers liked and it worked!
    Unlike many owners on this show, she took Ramsay’s advice, ran with it, and made sensible changes as needed and now she’s got two successful restaurants and more! Gordon will give you the blueprint you need for success but it’s ultimately up to the owners to maintain and pivot when something’s not working.
    I’d love to see a reunion between them someday!

      I mean, she was a little spoiled. I went to high school with Lisa and she lived in a gorgeous home that had a literal swimming pool in the living room. This was in Washington State where it was always rainy and cold. She also had an actual deer as a pet, and it was beautiful. It would come around and just chill, so crazy. Her dad was a super cool dude in my book. I remember one time Lisa had a party at her house and her dad ended up coming home to see like 200 kids at his house getting faded. Aaahh, what I wouldn't give to rewind time back to the 90's and be able to live it all over again 😢

    Great example of how to use the show to change your fortunes. She was obviously right as well to take bits of his menu that worked (the flatbreads look gorgeous and are obvious choices with wine) and then used Ramsey's chef to uplift the menu items regulars like, smart! She was clearly at a low point when he arrived but it said a lot that all the staff seemed very fond of her regardless. Have to say when the guys did that visit in 2019, the place looks incredible! Great job, Lisa.

    • @breezy6859
      @breezy6859 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Regulars can’t keep the place open by itself. You have to be able to keep the lights on, buy food, if they have alcohol then they need to pay for a liquor license and she has workers she has to keep on payroll. Yes regulars are a big aspect of a restaurant but they can’t keep the place open. The place was going under because she had no idea what she was doing. Getting in over your head can quickly increase and debt can quickly increase if you don’t know how what the fuck you’re doing.

    • @TPTGopher

    The funniest part in that epsiode was when Gordon told her that "daddy" bought her the restaurant. She retorted that she bought the restaurant herself... with a loan co-signed by her dad. Gordon rolled his eyes. LOL. Glad she pulled through though.

    • @Apillis124
      @Apillis124 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

      Eh, not entirely fair criticism as she was still the one on the hook for paying off the loan given its still primarily in her name, her father being the co-sign likely because his credit was better (naturally) than hers at the time (she was only 23 just out of college at the time, so of course his credit would be better), and if he was the one who paid off the loan it's more than likely given how Kitchen Nightmares US edition likes to stir up more drama than solving it, they'd have mentioned that.

    Chef Scott used to appear on a little known cooking show that appeared on ABC 7 in the 2010s. I think it was called Recipe Rehab. Families would submit their favorite recipe and 2 chefs would compete to see which one could make a healthier alternative. It used to come on Saturday mornings. Me, my mom and my brother enjoyed watching it. I was teaching cooking classes for kids at the time, so it was cool to see the different ways they'd try to make dishes like macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, and lasagna healthier. The chef won by how many calories and sodium they were able to reduce in the recipe, or something like that. Scott won a few times!

    I thought Houston’s a couple doors down was pretty good, it’s gone now but had great steaks. My friend also worked at Johnny Rockets for years so I always seen Lidos but never tried it. It’s an interesting story I had no idea, lived in the South Bay all my life too.

    This episode is weird for me, with the disrespect the brothers gave by just leaving, ramsay should have told lisa to fire them to be strict and hire a more loyal crew.
    Meanwhile the waiter, who dated yhe boss, yeah he dated the boss, but he was loyal and did nothing wrong, got fired by lisa.
    Like...hello?

      I dunno the work ethics in the US, But over here if 2 co workers are able to keep relationship and business goal together as one, then it's better cause they support each other
