The song is about a friend of Ren who committed suicide and he struggled with this his whole life, as the ending points to.
Listen to it as if it's his friend who's talking rather than Ren singing. Very chilling. The ending is Ren's feelings.

‘Over and over we go’ opening the hook and ending it with ‘it suffocates me’ is actually pretty outright vivid imagery.
‘Nothing is pulling me through, hallelujah, when I don’t know how to be, Hallelujah’ that to me translates as I kept asking for help when he no longer knew what it was to be [insert whatever it is that gets you up in the morning]
Great reaction. This song is so melancholic, soulful, haunting and poignant. Love Chinchillas's voice and I really respect the fact that Ren mixes so many genres and breaks down boundaries, he really opens up music to new variations.
Thank you for giving some love to this. It was one of the first Ren songs that fully stopped me in my tracks. We love you too! Would you be up fir giving Chinchilla a go as well? Her Elements and also Fingers are amazing songs, either version. She is special. They also did two busking covers together.
Except for the very last line, the rest of this song until then was sung from the perspective of Ren's late friend Joe Hughes. who committed suicide at age 19.

I think it can be see as either Joe’s perspective leading up to his suicide or Ren’s perspective dealing with the aftermath at the same time.
Yeah, I was wondering because it can sort of fit either his friends perspective or his perspective of the aftermath, grief can make you feel that way sometimes.

It was written about his friend who jumped off the very same bridge at the very same spot they are singing from. It's super emotional for ren

Furthermore whilst Ren mourns his lost friend, he’s not going to do something so sick as to turn the spot where his friend ended it all, in to a sui- cide voyeurism spot for sicko’s.

I believe Ren is in a documentary called Unrest. Ren also wrote the theme music, a song called Patience
The soundtrack to the film is actually by Bear McCreary. However, Ren performce with him on the song "Patience." It is a wonderful song in the style of Ren's music.
@@JensRandolff My understanding is that Ren collaborated with Bear McCreary for the film. I saw a video of Ren singing Patience in his bedroom before the film was made.

This song could be from Ren's perspective from losing his friend to suicide or even from his friend perspective that committed suicide. They never found his body. So sad.

love you guys! Hey, just to publicly let ya'll know...and everyone reading this: TH-cam is doing crazy s#!t ... Iwas going through my subscriptions today and realized there were some channels missing..Asia and BJ was one of them. I started really looking at my list...came up with about 20...twenty...channels that my sub was removed from! I didn't unsub...TH-cam did. They were ALL reaction channels, some I've been a sub for over 5 years. I think I've resubbed to all of them...but not positive. Just a heads up, go through your subs and make sure they all there! Not only was this song from the perspective of Rens friend who committed suicide with the last line was from Rens perspective. But the setting was on a bridge in wales where his friend committed suicide.
There’s an interview with him a and Justin Hawkins , I think it’s in his channel only came out at the beginning of May
How is it possible that Ren has written and put out so MUCH music and not got a record deal??
He did have a contract with Sony about 10 years ago but they dropped him because of his illnesses. Nice guys Sony EH!!!

In fact it was almost 15 years ago that he was signed to Sony. And they dropped him about 5 years later.
But he's released an album independently and has dozens of well received tracks on TH-cam and created a real buzz.
You'd have thought someone would see his potential and give him a second chance.
That said Hi Ren has gone viral and elevated his status so it's only a matter of time now.
Ren collaborates with a lot of other artist depending on the song, He does a track Humble with Eden Nash it is reggae.
This track is wildly underrated

What made it worse was his friends body was never found after he jumped from the bridge, also people thought this was shot on the top of a roof, it was shot on the Medai bridge.
