Hidden bottles. Going to the shop to buy "a beer and some crisps", plus a bottle of vodka but no-one needs to know about that. It will be the last one, just to stop the rattle. Been there. Hope you are ok. It's an evil addiction.
Mark Williams (now best known for Harry Potter and Father Brown) as the dad and Simon Day as the son. Maria McErlane, a regular on the show but not a main cast member, as the mum. Paul Whitehouse could also be heard as the DJ on the radio, sounding suspiciously like his Harry Enfield character, Mike Smash.
Saw this originally and laughed - watched you laughing and made it funnier - so satisfying to see you getting us - do more, we love it, it's like a growing family
Loved the Fast Show back in the day. Also funny to see Mark Williams (aka Arthur Weasley) in this sketch. He used to do loads of work with Paul Whitehouse back in the 90’s.
The whole point of the Fast Show was to start a sketch, get the catch phrase out and finish it, hence fast. It has resulted in a huge number of catch phrases entering the vocabulary: "Scorchio!" "Which was nice" "This week I have been mostly..." "Suits you sir" "Does my bum look big in this?" "I'm afraid, I was very, very drunk..." "I'll get me coat" "Someone's sitting there mate" "[anything] is very much like making love to a beautiful lady" And so many more. I had a young work colleague who I asked if they had ever watch the Fast Show. "No" was the answer. "But you know the catch phrases, yes?" I said. "No", they said. Then I listed all the ones I could think of and they knew every single one. They had no idea they had all come from one TV show.
Apparently they compiled a highlight tape edited down to the punchlines from a show they were trying to get commissioned. They thought it was funnier than the whole show so went with the format.
There are so many great Fast Show sketches you should definitely check out, notably 'Unlucky Alf', Chip Cob the deaf stuntman, and Dave Angel Eco Warrior. 👍👍👍
You would absolutely love the Fast Show !. Hardly ever bettered for consistent memorable characters, and punchlines. Too many great bits to call out, but Unlucky Alf, is a legend . He is one of Paul Whitehouse's greatest creations. Always getting into scrapes, catchphrase was always "Bugger!.". (Warning Alf feeding the ducks may cause internal pain ... , just a heads-up !.)
I remember a good Fast Show sketch. There was a presenter that kept randomly coughing, as the sketch progresses it steadily got worse. Later on he was joined by 3 more presenters, think 1 sneezed, another would do something else (forget what) and Paul Whitehouse would for some reason would say "arse". The final sketch it ended with all going "cough cough, atchoo, burp (maybe) ARSE!!". Hope you don't mind me spoiling a sketch you may never see, such a funny sketch show with many great moments.
@@andrewvalentine6977 good old Bob [clears throat] Flemming. My favourite was when the introduction music faded out and his mic faded up just as he said "... And so I gave her a pearl necklace."
love this show but never seen this sketch before. my mum was an alcoholic when i was young and this reminded me so much of those times. especially coughing to hide the sound of a can opening. i remember her doing that specifically. hiding drink around the house, putting it in different containers so it looked like she was drinking something else.
As a recovering alcoholic myself, other than smash the car, I have done everything in this sketch. I have hidden alcohol in more places than is humanely possible, and coughing when opening cans was a regular occurrence. The people who wrote this must have known some of these traits first hand.
Definitely, my dearly departed mum was an alkie and the hiding of drinks and coughing to cover can openings is bringing back memories at trigger-level. Not in this sketch but there was also occasional overuse of perfume in the hope of concealing the smell of alcohol/alcoholic breath. Congratulations on recovering 66oggy, happy for you that you can get your life back.
Bob flemming and his friends who all had ticks or tourettes such as bob having a permanent frog in his throat, his friend who shouted 'arse', another sneezed, or hiccups. Etc. Leading to bobs country classics cd where they all sing absolutely killed me with laughter 😂
This is what one of my aunties did when my uncle got diagnosed with Parkinson's, as hidden bottles were found all over the house after her death. They had moved 85 miles away not long before, so had no friends or family nearby, then when he got diagnosed with Parkinson's, she became depressed and drank herself to death.
@@raycope2086 She was my favourite auntie. She only lived 2 doors away before they moved, so I was there practically every week, playing on my cousin's computer, going on cycle rides with them to parks or day trips to places like Bolton Abbey, staying for tea occasionally having meals like Spaghetti Bolognese, and going to every barbecue they had which was a lot (my parents have 1 barbecue a year maximum, whereas they had between 4 and 12 a year at least.)
Bob Fleming, Dave Angel and Monkfish are just a few characters out of so many. The fast show was brilliant. Another good recommendation I have (if you haven’t done it already) is the Estate Agent (realtor) guy from a sketch show called Monkey Trousers. It’s good old Bob Mortimer and is great
The Fast Show in my opinion, is the funniest program ever made in Britain. It’s not a sitcom, just lots and lots of short, hilarious fast sketches, with characters I guarantee you’ll be splitting your sides with. No Harry Enfield, but a ton of absolutely brilliant comedians, some of which have acted in many serious dramas on the TV and the big screen. I can’t wait until you get into the Fast Show, properly, it’s just amazing. 😂
Good work. Loved the Fast Show, the catchphrases were everywhere and linger on. All pretty good but personal favourites are Rowley Birkin QC, the spoof Arthur Atkinson documentary with Tommy Cockles, and Ted and Ralph. Ted and Ralph IMO not only funny, but profoundly brilliant. Like a few well loved British comedy shows they manage to add in the occasional sad moving storyline with the funny stuff.
Definitely worth reacting to the whole series in order! Sketches/characters/catchphrases etc grow throughout and sometimes even interchange between the skits so some context may be lost doing individual clips instead of episodes!
the mid life crisis guys as well, there's a certain sketch from that, you probably know the one I mean, I don't want to spoil it in case King Boomer reads the comments. It's the hardest I've ever heard a crowd laugh, so much so that the audio distorts because people roared so hard with laughing! it was from the Last Fast Show Ever DVDs
One morning I put a piece of bread in the cassette player, and a tape in the toaster!!!! I remember taking about 12 seconds to understand why the musoc wasn't playing and bread was getting manked up by the cassette player going round and round
My good man. Just checked out your Stavros Harry Enfield reaction. Which made me think of a post when you mentioned dirty mind. Please please have a look at the New Zealand caulk and deck stain adverts. Absolutely hilarious
Paul Whitehouse had a character named Rowley Birkin QC. A distinguised gentleman in his later years, who tries to tell a funny story, while drunk. Not much that comes out as inteligible words.
The fast show is unique, many characters often with a one line catch phrase, they deliver that one line, which you know is coming, then the sketch is over. Its a bit like the IT crowd in that if you just watch one you can wonder what the hell was that about, miss it completely. To “ get it” you really need to watch several shows in sequence. Then show one line catch phrases stick in your mind forever. Today I will mostly be explaining the “ Fast Show” concept, even if I am very, very, drunk. Ain’t knowing stuff brilliant! None of those last three things will mean a thing to you until you watch several episodes of the fast show. It’s character based, delivering often one line comments, that’s it, some you will get to love, others you will probably never see the point of, which is normal. We all developed our favourite characters in time…cough cough,…just had a little flem stuck in my throat there for a second! No you won’t get that comment either….yet. It’s all very confusing, until you watch. Enjoy King Boomer.😂
"In't milk brilliant" sketch is a must 4 y'all. there are other similar fast show sketches too. e.g. "ain't holidays brilliant". u get the idea. The character was known as "Brilliant Kid" and there's a 14minute compilation. Just search for fast show brilliant

You reaction to so many things make me laugh so hard but none more so than Gordon Ramsey and his famous insults lol!! Keep up the good work!
"Macho fantastico" is priceless. It's a Fast show, low budget, sexist, Latin American soap opera parody. More humour per second than can possibly be imagined. God bless the fast show.
I would love to see you react to 'Prince and the Jockeys' from 'Big Train'. It is one of my fave sketches of all time, very surreal. Sure you will live it....
