Have been in the front row of his gigs a couple of times - no extra charge for it and it’s hilarious. The entire first half was just chatting to the audience like this, no pre-scripted material until the second half and even then he linked back to those of us he’d talked to! The man’s memory is immense

As we all know he is a history teacher , he issued to remembering peoples names etc that’s part of why he is so good. Teacher and comedy 🎭 seems to mix well 😂

I was lucky enough to be on the front row for one of his gigs, I'm also a soldier so I got the expected level of abuse at the start of the show. The best thing was, half way through the show, a good 30-40 minutes in, he spoke to a guy in the balcony who when asked what his job was, said he was a sniper. Al didn't miss a beat and told him a sniper wouldn't of given his position away then called on me by name to confirm he was talking shit. It isn't just how quick he is, its that he remembers every bit of information the crowd gives him and comes back to them at the perfect moment. 1 guy after the show actually asked me if I had been planted there by Al. Nope, mans just a legend.

All British people know that if you go to a comedy show, you cannot be delicate and offended, Al is Razor sharp, he is a brilliant Historian and he mimics real life barmen. bombastic, opinionated and he has a true feel for the audience mentality.

Saw Al Murray live last year, front row tickets were extra expensive as the money for them was going to charity, don't know if that was a one off or the norm for his shows. I was amazed not only at how great his audience participation was but how he remembered everyone's names/jobs and kept coming back to them throughout the show. Best comedian I've seen live to date, in tears most of the show, absolute legend

The O2 Arena holds up to 20,000 but when I saw him live it was in a small club with about 500 people there. That was in 2002 and he's still touring, with shows on at the moment. He finished his set back in 2002 with a quiz game, called Fact Hunt...which sounds tame until Al asked us all to shout out 'Fact Hunt' repeatedly, until it sounded like we were all shouting...well, something else at him!

His show reminds me when back in the 80's I saw Eric Sykes and Jimmy Edwards do a 2 mans show very similar to Al Murray. About 2 minutes into the show a couple arrived to take their seats. The pair noticed this, looked at each other then started the show again word for word. The audience laughed then settled again. Three minutes later another couple crept in to take their seats. Eric and Jimmy stop, look at each other, look at the audience, wait a beat then everyone bursts out laughing guessing what might happen. The hapless couple have no idea why they are the butt of so much laughter. Genius.

Al Murray is a legend in himself. He works the audience and remembers all the names of the people he interacts with. Unlike most stand up comedians who just tell jokes, anecdote and funny life stories, Al takes it to the next level and uses the audience as his props. His wit is second to none, he is the connoisseur of banter.

The past 3-4 generations of the men in his family including Al are all oxbridge and have senior army and clergy roles. He is from money. He hides it well. I once saw a documentary of him with hair talking about his favourite German composers.

A study, made in the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and reported in the medical journal The Lancet, found nurses made fewer serious clinical errors than doctors, were better at recording medical histories, and patients treated by them were less likely to need follow-up advice.

Britain bailed out the Bank of Ireland in 2009 (£4 Billion+) when the shit hit the subprime fan - mainly because most British banks (which were also bailed out in 2009 to the tune of £200 to £500 Billion (no one really knows to this day) had all invested in the Bank of Ireland's shitty subprime "investments" too, which actually turned out to be even more toxic than the subprime shit on their own books.

And the Peru + bear reference relates to Paddington Bear coming from 'deepest, darkest Peru'.

Nope it applies to private directory companies ( all the private directory companies numbers start 118) and in particular one called 118 118, ( unsure if they are still trading but the ads certainly stopped years ago) their ads on TV used to feature two long haired guys with moustaches and headbands etc, but yes he’s obviously then referring to Indian call centres 👍 The original BT owned directory enquiries service was 192 so nothing like 118 😂

I loved Jim Davidson when I saw his live 'Pantomime Show' titled 'Sinderella' especially as there was a lot of emphasis on the 'Sin' part of the title. It was a truly spectacular show and absolutely hilarious with it. If you can manage to find a copy of the Live Show online, it is well worth watching as both myself and the female friend I went with loved every second of it, we were both in stitches throughout the show, so much so that I had jaw ache by the end of the show!
The other Live Stand Up Show I have seen was 'Hale And Pace' with whom I had a reasonable amount of direct interaction back and forth! Norman Pace being a local as he came from Newark in Nottinghamshire and the show being held in Nottingham City Centre knew exactly how to get a reaction from the crowd, and seeing as I was very quick with a retort and despite only being in the 2nd row, I managed to have more interaction with them than anyone else that night. There is a very big rivalry between the people of Nottingham and Derby, in particular, their 2 major Football Teams as in Nottingham Forest (The Greatest) & Derby County (The Rams) or in Notts better known as the Sheep Shaggers! But this particular night, when they were portraying their characters called 'The Management' Norman Pace said about Nottingham Football Fans liking Sheep, to which I shouted out straight away, "No Mate, That the Derby County Fans, they are the Sheep Shaggers!" To which Norm Pace came over to me and asked what I said so I repeated myself and he said it out loud to which almost the whole of the audience erupted in cheering and baaing, just like sheep do! He then asked how I knew and I replied "Cos they wear woolly underwear!" To which everyone around me burst out into hysterics! That was a very funny night too, which we thoroughly enjoyed as it was particularly special seeing as I was about the only person to get any direct interaction with them, especially seeing as their characters are more aloof than Al Murray's Pub Landlord, as I said, they were 'De Management' so to manage to get a couple of spells of direct interaction, I was particularly fortunate! 😉😂🤣

Because in England we mostly insult people we like, our family and friends, when comedians overtly insult the audience then they assume the position of friend, when it happens we just want to sink into the floor and die but also we laugh because that is what we would say if we had the chance to say it to someone else.

I watched him live once and an American lady stood up and started calling him a sexist, and disagreeable person. She got so upset he had to stop the show and explain it was an act. She walked out.

Bank of Ireland used to operate the UK post office banking services, which is probably why he worked for Bank of Ireland but was British, we also have (or had) bank of Scotland branches in England too.

The Pub Landlord is just a character, but Al Murray himself is a genuine mensa-level genius, which explains how he's so fast and flexible with audience interaction.

I've seen Al at our local theatre and if you want front row tickets you just have to be first when they go on sale. Not priced any higher than for the rest of that seating section.
    He is always brilliant. 😀
Edit: At one performance he was running around the auditorium with a teenager in tow, this included through and over the rows of seats.
I think it was something to do with swimming like a shark, but I may be wrong about that.

Fantastic clip, Love Al Murray, so unique. Please can you react to the UK show Facejacker, one of my favourite reality clip shows in recent years. A good one to start on would be "Dufrais At The Baseball Game | Facejacker " (the 8.47 minute clip) then maybe "Brian Badonde Takes A Painting Class | Facejacker ".
You wont regret checking out this show Kingboomer.

I used to go to live comedy alot during the 90's one club in particular, The Red Rose in North London. It was being refurbished once so the club moved to a pub. I went with my Missus one Saturday and before the show Al was serving behind the bar before he went on 😊. He was as funny then as he is now although he doesn't play live so much these days. I do hope you get to see him one day though mate and I loved your reaction to the video 👍😊.

If you do come over to the UK consider visiting Southport in Merseyside. There is the Southport Comedy Festival here in October that lasts for two weeks. Last year Al Murray was one of the acts as part of his Gig for Victory tour. Incidentally it's also the birth town Lee Mack and also Miranda Richardson, Queenie in the second series of Blackadder . It's an ideal location for visiting Liverpool.
