Thank you for being you Karina! I ordered the pattern through your affiliate link to do my part in helping you continue to create such excellent content. Because of you I use my 1/4 " foot for all of my topstitching and it makes it so much easier and professional looking. I also baste a lot more than I ever did because of your advice. IMO you are one of the best teacher/sewist on your tube (and I've been sewing for a looong time LOL)
Karina, you've said "a dress can be a top & vice versa"1,000 times. Your beautiful border print top adds 1,000 more options to this pattern! Your dress version is gorgeous with chest pockets and the ruffle tier on the back! Thanks for taking the super versatile Take the Chance pattern up a notch and for helping me add to my PE pattern collection!
Great video! Thank you for sharing your helpful sewing tips. I love the dress pattern but was a bit disappointed there were no darts. You achieved a fabulous fit!
Karina you are stunning in both! Your top is lovely, it’s got a wonderful business casual vibe to it, professional looking and relaxed at same time. Your Take a Chance dress will be so comfortable in that fabric and versatile. Thank you! So inspirational! ❤️
Thanks for doing this video. The black dress looks great by itself and it was sheer genius to layer it over the black and white dress. The collar construction is ingeneous, I haven't seen that one before.
Many thanks Karina, awesome and inspiring as usual. Am a convert to the Sinclair Yasmin after watching your SewAlong for that, and have made two so far, and now I’ve used your link for the Pattern Emporium Take the Chance Dress. Love your commitment to sharing such brilliant sewing skills with us, Susan x
Thanks for this video Karina, I had in mind too before the release to make this into a top so thanks for sharing your version, it looks amazing! I always love your enthusiasm and energy in your videos and reviews, it genuinely encourages me to sew. Have a great weekend! :)
I love the black dress as a topper. My first burrito. A story. Last minute sewing for Christmas, I did a shirt for my dad. Never had done a burrito method, and my back yoke was wrong side out. I decided it was a design element, and attached the collar, the cuffs, and the chest pockets all wrong side out. 🤣🤣
Another great video! I just purchased the Take the Chance dress using your link. I'm impressed with Pattern Emporium's documentation, instructions, etc. I would not have found them if I hadn't been following you on Love Notions. Where & how did you learn to sew? I've been sewing for 60+ years and worked in an alterations department some 50 years ago. Many of you techniques are "old school" which I appreciate. Pressing and basting seem to be lost arts for some as well as hand finishing. Great that you are sharing some of the "old school" sewing techniques. What you did with the yolk is how my sewing mentors years ago would have done.
So glad you are demonstrating this dress! I saw the advertisement for it earlier this week and hoped you would! Of course I will order it using your affiliate link. THanks for the great work you do!
Hi Karina, thank you again, I have purchased the pattern, I hope I did via your link! You are an amazing sewist and teacher. I get confused with my measurements and then the amount of ease, I think this is where I fall down so for this dress I am going to do the size 14. There will be still ease at the bust so would I have to do a adjustment for a C cup. Oh I haven’t read the tutorial yet, so will make a coffee and have a read. 😃😃 ,
Hi Karina, as usual such a helpful video. I have a question, if I wanted a banded collar, would it work if I just made the collar pieces a shorter width / depth. I don't own this pattern yet, so I can print the piece out an measure it. But, for example if the width / depth of the collar piece is 3", could I make it 1.5" or 2" and get a decent looking banded collar, or would that not work at all? Thanks in advance if you see this and answer it, I know this is an older video. Also, even if the pattern is no longer on sale, if I click through your affiliate link in the comments, do you still get a commission. You are the best! Thanks ... Sandy
No it would not work. The collar is almost a rectangle. A banded collar is very curved and it goes right to the edge. It’s too much of change to make if you don’t know how to make your own patterns. For such a large design change, I’d look for a pattern with that feature.
I'm going to make this dress with long sleeves, but this kind of sleeve I see the first time, one side of the sleeve is different than the other one ( in the long version), what do you think about that? Thank you
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles you have to see a long version of the sleeve pattern. When it's folded in half (from the shoulder to bottom ) the side seam do not match. Maybe it should be like that, but for me it's something new.
@@DianaZak the back part of the sleeve is sometimes a tad longer to accomodate extra ease to bend the arm. Pin both extremes top and bottom and sew with the back part of the sleeve at the bottom touching the feed dogs. That will help ease in the longer area.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles thank you for your quick response! Unfortunately I don't have one and trying to figure out what other way I could do it neatly and not too bulky
There’s no way I can have a pdf pattern is there any way I can get a printed pattern ? It’s the only one that is perfect for me and can’t find one anywhere else 😢
These are only PDF patterns. You don’t have to print them yourself at home though. There’s files for you to print them in large A0 paper. Lots of people do that.

I love how you mix things up and play around with them.
Lovely! I never would have thought of wearing the dress open like that. Great idea!
They both turned out lovely! The black one especially. I like that technique for doing a collar, they end result is so neat.
I love a nice shirt dress!

Nice tutorial as usual Karina. Love that second dress!!🤗
Love both of these versions on you! Beautiful! Fabrics are beautiful also and it was a great idea to make the blouse, it looks really pretty on you 😊
Love the black, thank you for your video's

PE patterns are great, comfortable but also sophisticated. I love your black version.
Hi From Brisbane Australia. Love your channel.
The added tier on the back of the dress gives a wonderful extra bit of flounce... I was skeptical but it turned out so nice!
Very pretty dresses
Love your makes Karina, fabulous pattern matching on the top👍
Thanks for the video. I plan to make one or two in the upcoming weeks.
I need to step up my hand basting game. Your results are amazing.
Lovely makes. The top is so cute. And so smart to make the black dress to wear two ways.
Gorgeous, I will definitely get this pattern.
I have purchased both patterns, can't wait to put it together and go shopping.

That’s a great combo outfit Karina and you look great in it.
Hi Karina,
After watching your amazing tutorial, I purchased both patters through your links above. Thank you so much!! Your tutorial is perfect!!

Hi Karina loved this video so I just went and bought the shirt dress as well as a cardigan pattern lol you are a definite influencer!
Cute!
Beautiful, Karina! Both are just lovely. Another great pattern to add to my collection.
Just got this through your link! Thanks for showing the collar ! I always try to double my yokes as well. Such a clean finish!
Yay! I was wondering how that would look as a top. I think I’ll make my first one like this. Thank you!

It’s not too gathered. I just used the serger.

Yes. Pattern Emporium is from Australia and they only sell digital files.
Thank you.
