My uncle probably had this and we just didn't know it back then. After that I don't play when it comes to sleep and driving and keep a car music playlist to help me sing to stay awake. If I'm going out and will be far from home, I won't eat because I know my body will get sleepy after an hour of eating. Once I yawn it's almost time to go. I have Narcolepsy and I take medication. Although I cannot work a corporate position anymore, I can still live a somewhat “normal” life with medication.
Yeah... That's my life. To bad NOBODY CARES! There is no real compassion for me. People have always been like this family..."you just need to get some sleep at night!". Everything she said is accurate
I dealt with this for a few years. I would just fall asleep without any warning. It just randomly started one day n then stopped. It was so embarrassing. Now I deal with insomnia. I only can fall asleep if I take medication.
I know exactly how she feels cause i can't stay up either n my husband always say you sleep too much but i can't help it, i need to go get checked out n see why i get so sleepy all day.
I guess narcolepsy is more of a bother than anything else. You have to plan out and try to keep things under control at all times. You have to make sure that you are safe constantly or else you could end up hurt by accident while sleeping
Yes exactly!!!! I use the word inconvenient. Not being able to do certain things or just having to calculate your days so you are productive and can do the things you want.
I HAD THIS CONDITION WHEN I WAS AROUND 38 OR 39 YEARS OF AGE AND I KNEW I COULD NOT LIVE LIKE THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I WAS GOING TO GO TO THE DOCTOR BUT I PRAYED AND IT HEALED. AND COME TO FIND OUT, I WAS CONSUMING LARGE AMOUNT OF ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM OF SLEEPING A LOT😮😮
In our society, there isn't a lot of accommodation for narcolepsy in things like education and employment. Justice found a way to make it work, but I'm sure it hasn't been easy, especially pre-diagnosis. I love that she has friends and family members who not only "accept" her condition and its symptoms but also normalize it. The whole rest of the world expects her to be awake consistently. In the presence of her close friends and family, she's got a safer space.
Have they tried Ampyra? Because I know that it was made for people with narcolepsy... But it also helps people like me that has multiple sclerosis, gives you the most unbelievable energy.
Have it done. I was diagnosed in my early 20s, after the sleep study. The medication has changed my life, the symptoms never go but it gave me back my life. I can even drive now🙂
I can relate to this. I had a sleeping disorder throughout my young adult life, but for me I thought I was doing it to escape my everyday circumstances. No one ever knew or inquired why I slept so much. I just thought it was because of deep depression.
As a child I remember that she had to get her lesson plans together for the week but she always had hers done for the year by the end of summer break..no matter how often she may have fallen asleep during the day..She was always up at 5 am..she's 80 and still gets up..the other thing is she can hear what your saying because she has catoplexy also..I could write a book..
More music.Invest in headphones and a playlist of music that keeps your attention .And its important to get to know your melanin. Its just how her body relaxes.Just so happens its at random moments.sleep is so important especially if you dont get enough of it
I was diagnosed in 2021, and let me tell you it can be a nightmare! Can’t stay awake during the day, and can’t stay asleep during the night. So you take meds to keep you up and take them to sleep. It can be quite depressing at times.
lol I love that the dog’s name is Zuko though haha. But damn narcolepsy sounds tough to deal with I’m already tired enough in general I couldn’t imagine having this 😢
I don't have narcolepsy, but I do have mild sleep apnea. So I understand a little bit about what it feels like to not be able to stay awake.. especially if I had a bad night with pain as was the case last night.
OMG this is my life! ❤ ain’t nothing u can do about falling asleep. I fall asleep in traffic, seminars, standing. It is nothing u can do. I have to take uppers and downers to survive. Yes scheduled nap times matter but again nobody understands. I can’t help it
The only thing I will have to disagree on is the driving. Because you have narcolepsy, you are putting yourself and others at a higher risk of danger. As long as someone is in the car with you while you are driving to take over if you do have an episode. Then by all means. But over all, I'm so glad to see so much positivity from you over this, never let it get you down. And thanks for the funny moment while at the funeral. Nice share!
Finally a somewhat relatable addiction id say this is very much real and appreciated from the channel respecting people that suffer from this it’s hard out here
It really can be. I'm lucky enough my episodes typically are in controlled environments usually meaning I can feel them coming on. Then if I plan my day with structure naps etc. I have prevent episodes from occurring. But for somebody with a more severe case I can only imagine the difficulty managing the unexpected side of the disorder.

I have Narcolepsy and I take medication. Although I cannot work a corporate position anymore, I can still live a somewhat “normal” life with medication.
Hello, would you mind sharing which medication is currently working for you? Thanks 😊
I keep falling asleep 😴 on this video. 😳
These two are seriously so cool looking
Yeah... That's my life. To bad NOBODY CARES! There is no real compassion for me. People have always been like this family..."you just need to get some sleep at night!". Everything she said is accurate
She is so beautiful
I dealt with this for a few years. I would just fall asleep without any warning. It just randomly started one day n then stopped. It was so embarrassing. Now I deal with insomnia. I only can fall asleep if I take medication.
Literally a curse that can be broken 🙏🏾
Crazy part Ik somebody with this disorder
I know exactly how she feels cause i can't stay up either n my husband always say you sleep too much but i can't help it, i need to go get checked out n see why i get so sleepy all day.
I guess narcolepsy is more of a bother than anything else. You have to plan out and try to keep things under control at all times. You have to make sure that you are safe constantly or else you could end up hurt by accident while sleeping
Yes exactly!!!! I use the word inconvenient. Not being able to do certain things or just having to calculate your days so you are productive and can do the things you want.
Grannys funeral 😂😂😂😂
She's gorgeous😍😍😍! My brother used to fall asleep anywhere. I'm glad he didn't become a trucker driver with me...
So strong and amazing women and inspiring and inspiring unique and amazing and remarkable person thanks for sharing ur story 🫶🏻🌺🫶🏻🙌🏻💙🩵🫶🏻🌺🌺
I think my nephew has this. He'll be in the backseat talking and talking and then just silence. Sleep. I love it😅
That's the issue that I have the doctor thinks it might be narcolepsy? He wants to admit me into a sleep clinic.
100% recommend getting a sleep study if you can! Helps just knowing and having some answers to help you live your best life.
Have it done. I was diagnosed in my early 20s, after the sleep study. The medication has changed my life, the symptoms never go but it gave me back my life. I can even drive now🙂
My friend has this and is prescribed stimulants and they help but can be addactive so they are very tightly monitored.
Bro I have Narcolepsy as well but I have been trying to get diagnosed for years 🙄 so I absolutely get it as well! I can fall asleep standing up.
Im glad you have some independence and you're happy😊
lol I love that the dog’s name is Zuko though haha. But damn narcolepsy sounds tough to deal with I’m already tired enough in general I couldn’t imagine having this 😢
Hahaha i was on an avatar the last airbender kick when I got him. 😂 I was hoping he had a patch over his eye
@@justicesverdictsandviews I love that though I feel like so many of us have named our pets after tv characters lol 😂
I can’t help it
My sister be like when she gets off of Work Everyday 😂😂😂😂😂
The only thing I will have to disagree on is the driving. Because you have narcolepsy, you are putting yourself and others at a higher risk of danger. As long as someone is in the car with you while you are driving to take over if you do have an episode. Then by all means.
But over all, I'm so glad to see so much positivity from you over this, never let it get you down. And thanks for the funny moment while at the funeral. Nice share!
I had a roommate with this . We were literally at a ride at Disney and she passed out lol .
This girl seems wonderful to be around 🩵
Finally a somewhat relatable addiction id say this is very much real and appreciated from the channel respecting people that suffer from this it’s hard out here
My sister has narcolepsy. Took forever to get diagnosed. Once she got on the proper meds, her life changed!
Damn this is low key dangerous. When u brake it Down simply cooking could lead to devastation. Can u be woke up after u drift off.
I met a guy with narcolepsy. It was very interesting to watch a person literally fall dead asleep while standing and begin to topple to the ground.
They say Harriet Tubman had Narcolepsy. Can you imagine escaping with her and she fell asleep at a drop of a dime. Mind you she never lost a slave. Thanks for sharing story!
I bet her grandma didn’t mind her taking a little nap at her funeral she probably even laughed about it lol. She is beautiful and her sister too.
I learned a lot about this!
But the big question is.....but are u tired before u end up falling asleep?...an after u sleep do u feel energized when u wake up?
Never knew about this condition 😮 serious situation..is there any meds to assist your moment's thanks for sharing.
