Something I've been thinking about somewhat on this topic of generational relations that I'd LOVE to hear you guys invite Duane on for, is how we are supposed to be believers sharing our faith and stories while honoring our parents. I think Jacob and Duane go to great lengths to do their best at sharing struggles without going too far. Duane from poverty, religion, and ignorance as well as Jacob and the "Duanites" who wouldnt give him the time of day compared to his dad and the passing of the baton..etc. I feel like part of the assignment or torch I've been asked to carry is to share my testimony in groups of people who are wrapped up in deconstruction and church hurt and new agers. Part of that story is to go through my parental downfalls in the "religion vs. Jesus" topic. I haven't shared much in that respect because I want to take seriously what God takes seriously and it feels like sometimes the stuck feeling of moving forward with a calling is also confused with this and not wanting to open my mouth about some of those generational pitfalls that we all possess. If time might ever offer a conversation like that for both of you, please consider that topic for a future episode!
