    A very cool looking car but unfortunately my "Fast and Furious" days are long gone in the rear view mirror of old age. Now I'm just "Slow and Mildly Irritated".

      Ha! Sorry we're just now seeing this, J High. We agree that those feelings do tend to kick in more often than not. However, the right car every once in a while earns us irritated looks from our spouses. Thanks for watching!

    I have the sport manual, and while it's missing all of these goodies, like the leathers and the driver's assist package, I think the Sport is the one to get, it's a GREAT value.

    I, too, was looking forward to a hatchback Si version. Not only is that a disappointment that there won't be a hatchback Si, but the sedan Si that I tested was really not that special. For the money, you might as well just go with this hatch Sport Touring. You get all the creature comforts you need. The CVT is so much better than I was expecting, and the adaptive cruise control isn't available on the Si because of the manual transmission. Not enough reason to get an Si.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're due to test an Si in the coming weeks. We do admit, we're looking forward to it, but only time will tell if it's worth the hype. At any rate, it'll be the first manual Civic of this generation that we'll get to drive. As you mentioned, the CVT was much better than we were expecting, but the manual will bring about a different vibe. We appreciate your comments, chethehoss. Thanks for watching!

    • @unodfredy
      @unodfredy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      chetthehoss why would they make a hatchback Si when they already have a hatchback sport. Si coupe and sedan. And. The Type R. That would just be too many models being manufactured.

    • @chetthehoss
      @chetthehoss 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm one for more practicality, so I would normally opt for a hatchback, and I tend to prefer the sportier nature of the Si. I'm only speaking for myself of course. I don't fancy paying $40,000 + for a Type R where I'm from, especially considering that many of its competitors also feature all-wheel drive for the same price.

    • @unodfredy
      @unodfredy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      chetthehoss then the hatchback sport in a manual transmission is the way to go... if it isn't fast enough for you you could always tune it with the hondata flashpro

      The Honda Sensing Suite could have been included in the Si - It is available with both CVT and Manual Transmissions in some trims of the European-Spec Civic (As well as the Canadian-Spec Sport Touring Hatch 6MT)

    Is this the R line or no? There's a 2017 Honda Civic EX I'm interested in, but it's 22,900, kinda pricey when it's already a 5yr old car, but it only has 44k mi, would anyone say this is worth or not worth the price with the current car market?

    looks great, however I am looking to buy this car for Uber and Lyft on the side as my daily driver. Does anyone know how this car is from a reliability stand point? Is maintenance cost low and is mpg actually what is advertised? A gas guzzler that needs maintained often is that last thing any Uber driver wants to have.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, ROBERT SANCHEZ. As a single guy, we'd still recommend the hatchback. The sedan is a great car, but we like the styling of the hatchback better with those twin pipes coming out the back. Plus, you never know when you might buy that big 4k tv (or whatever large wishlist item) you've always wanted. With the hatchback, you can get it home without paying for delivery! Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

      Jrivera Unfortunately, Honda didnt install the good gearbox in the 2017 si, like the one in the new Type R. Civic si car weight is on the heavy side compared to the Civic Hatchback. The CVT is also reprogrammable, great for its smooth acceleration at the top end rpm range. Maybe not as fun to drive around as a manual, but beware, CVT's today have strength and reliability on thier side. And no WORN gears to worry about. Just beware, like I said, witnessed this at the track. The 2017 hatchback sport touring with the CVT trashed the 2017 si coupe! Who new!

    • @A_guan
      @A_guan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would get a civic hatch with the manual but Hondas stupid employees thought we wouldn't want a sport touring with the manual. Now I'm stuck with the cvt which wasn't too bad with the paddles

    I would buy it but the 2 let downs were that cvt and lack of bsm. Lanewatch is stupid, outdated and useless vs a read blind spot monitoring system. No real geared auto is a letdown since that cvt makes it feel like the engine is gonna explode

      Tech Defender I have this exact same model. And from a car guy who also owns a Chevrolet Camaro, this Honda is awsome! The CVT is definitely more refined and more powerful than I thought.
      And I have owned every automatic from GM like the Turbo Hydro 350s, 400s,T700R, 4L60E, 4L80 and some Dodge Torqueflight trannys. No lag in 1st and 2nd gear. And matted with the turbo, its fun! And Lanewatch has saved my ass few times! Honda is definitely the front runner in this class.

    • @A_guan
      @A_guan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitch Myers I thought about it (since I was comparing with mazda3) and I decided to get the civic and deal with looking behind my left shoulder. The cvt wasn't as bad as I thought it was especially with the paddles and fake gear shifts.
