- Join our multilingual, multicultural family of 7 on an unforgettable Christmas road trip to the heart of Masaka district, Uganda! 🌍 In this second installment of our holiday vlog series, we embrace the charm of deep village life, reconnect with nature, and experience the warmth of local hospitality. From learning about coffee farming to enjoying plant-based feasts prepared with homegrown ingredients, this adventure is as enriching as it is heartwarming. Witness stunning scenery, lively cultural exchanges, and the simple joys of life as we immerse ourselves in the rhythms of rural Uganda.
Our journey begins with a warm welcome from Kevin Johns Nabukenya, our dear friend and the director of My Love from Another Land. She treated us to delicious SOS-free, plant-based meals made from her family’s garden. The next day, we explored her family’s compound, discovering chickens, pigs, cows, and tropical fruits like tree tomatoes, guava, and jackfruit. We toured gardens brimming with maize, sugarcane, and passion fruit while learning about coffee propagation. Balancing baskets of fresh produce on our heads? Check!
The kids had the time of their lives climbing trees, playing football, and riding bikes too big for them. 😂 Meanwhile, Kevin’s father guided us through lush coffee gardens, sharing insights into coffee farming and its significance to the community. The epic views of rolling green hills left us speechless, and the surprise-filled reactions from the local villagers added a touch of humor and cultural connection to our journey.
This vlog is packed with laughter, learning, and breathtaking moments that highlight the beauty of Uganda’s rural life. Don’t miss this glimpse into village life and the adventures of our big family celebrating Christmas far from the city!
Experience the beauty, challenges, and love of our off-grid, plant-based family life! 💚

Beautiful family. Which village is this? I'm ugandan from the North and transitioning to resettle there from the UK. Flying over soon and would love you all to visit and stay at ours in Gulu.
@simplynyino3669 that would be great! We are in central, but might visit Gulu area coming up in a few months. You can contact us directly at our Gmail (familiapablanu) 😊
I am really happy with the way you are raising your children. Well done, Pablo and Anu. Both of you are great parents.
Thank you! It's not easy AT ALL though, burnout is real with these little ones, but we know that the more time you put in now, the better it will be for everyone later on! (And it's much easier to fulfill a 3 year old's needs than a neglected teenager's) 😊
So heartwarming! Your kids are getting an experience of their lives. They will cherish these memories forever. Love the way you are integrating in the local community. Pablo’s Luganda is getting better with each day, it seems.😊. I pray you get your piece of land to grow your own organic food.
Thank you so much for your supportive words! 🙏😊 Happy New and Prosperous Year to you and yours 🎉💖
Best wishes for 2025 full of love and happiness. And may your land issues be resolved.
Nice to hear from you.
May God bless dat family for inviting you all over for Christmas
They really were so welcoming! Very thankful for them 😁
I love this simple pretty life, I believe it cures your mind, the children are so grateful to live in that healthy environment. Mama and papa look so amazing and have become younger. I love that you came to Africa and you are taking things step by step, and you are learning as much as you can. Continue doing what you feel is best for your family. Happy New Year
Thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging comment! Happy and Prosperous New Year to you, as well! 🥳 😁
Am so proud of pablo ! He understands yoruba and speaks it too . Even Uganda language too.
Trying! Bit by bit 😊
Merciii Anù Pablo...
Voice of wisdom and love..
You are our Earth Voice....
So kind 😊
Happy new year to you all and May God keep you all safe and may prosper more in the next year Amen
Thank you! Same to you! ☺️
Indeed, the girls sometimes look like twins😊.
They call us nalongo and ssalongo all the time 😂

What a nice outing. Farms are always beneficial for any family. Be sure to eat healthy and right.
We do! It's hard to eat healthily with such rampant pesticide use, but we do our best until we can grow our own food 😊
"Nibo ni bata mi wa?" Priceless! It's so awesome that your children speak Yoruba fluently. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year to one and all!
Thanks so much for watching! Happy New Year to you as well! 😊
Pablanu, thank you for this video. It was interesting and I learned a lot. Kevin reminds me of the famous Dr. Naluyima, a young lady that turned her husband's small plot into an integrated farming plot including fish and pigs, among other products. Shes on a TED Talk.
We know EXACTLY who you're talking about! Watched her TED talk many many years ago, in fact. Very inspiring!
Such a loving couple, giving their children both experiences while educating them, of variety of foods both eaten and grown.Teach them well, grow them up,with great characteristics ,and love.Wish this family well, for 2025.Go forth with the Lord,"With him all things are possible
Thank you for your kind words, and Happy New Year! 😊
Coffee is indeed a money maker!! i had a friend who used to work in coffee company in uganda! the company would pull hundred million dollars annually! Majority of the coffee is for export!!
These kids are very lucky. They're already experiencing the benefits of farm life. Somehow, their parents have done it the right way. Seriously I don't remember enjoying farm visits this much at that tender age.
Haha, thank you for your perspective! I hadn't realized how our kids love of gardens may have been influenced by us 😊
Uganda is a prosperous land. Very blessed with good land an food. My hubby is Spanish as well. So I understand the Spanish bits but n9tyour local language. You've raised your children very well.
¡Gracias! And glad you are able to understand some of the other languages, as well 😊
The Locals are so good at what they do.Sustainable food production. I do admire their way of using every available piece of land, that they acquired. Thanks for taking us along. Those leaves we call them Leaf of Life, and we use them for cough and colds.🇬🇾👍👍
Yes, we were struck by that when we first arrived in Entebbe-every house, even the richest ones, have not flowers or nicely manicured lawn, but instead maize and beans in the little strips of earth between the street and their houses. You don't see that in the US or Nigeria!
And that's a really cool name for that leaf!
My compliments to Kevin's mama. She looks young and strong.
We'll pass that along! 😊
Thank you😊
Wow.. So interesting 😊❤
Happy New Year In Advance 🎉
Same to you! And thanks for watching!!! ☺️ 🙏
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😊💝
Elena is a carbon copy of her dad !, but actually they all look like their dad
Haha they are quite a good blend of us and our siblings, and look more like one or the other depending on the moment 😊
Happy New Year to you and your family, Pablanu and Anu! Wishing you all the best for 2025

The children are speaking English😊! ¡Los chicos hablan inglés!😊 y ellos saben que estan comiendo "kasoli"👍🏽!
They picked up English in Kampala and at school here way too fast!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
❤❤
Bonne année 😊
Love the boys and Dads haircuts. Looks like you had a great time. Coughs and cold sounds like for many of you. Stay healthy
It was sooo cold there! (Probably 13 or 14⁰C at night) Still trying to recover from the COVID-like stuff that's been floating around, but thankful that we are never bedridden and always have energy 😊
Beautiful
I don't understand, everyone speaks Yoruba? This is great family.
Our family is half Yorùbá, so we speak Yorùbá for half the time 😊 The rest of the time we speak to the kids in Spanish...but we live in Uganda and also speak English and we're learning Luganda 😁
Señor Pablo, ¿quién te enseña Luganda? I am becoming envious, even though I am a Christian!😂
Lo aprendimos poco a poco, practicando cuando podamos 😊
@@familiapablanufelicitaciones a la familia.
Woo...👌are you Ugandan?Nice family, happy new year 🎉
Not yet! 😁 Happy New Year to you as well!
@@familiapablanu You are needed in Nigeria leave east African land alone miss dollars
Beautiful mixed farming with all varieties. It should be labor intensive.
Somewhat, but not every day. And in some cases, it just becomes a chaos garden when neglected and people just come harvest when they feel like it, with no input on their side...just amazing
I hope one day l get to host you in northern uganda
That would be wonderful! That's on our list of places to visit soon. If you're serious, please email our Gmail familiapablanu to connect 😊
Oh my goodness. A huge congratulations to you, Pablanu. You're greeting and doing small talk very comfortably, in Luganda. "..gyeebale ko." Very nice.
Learning people's languages is key! Especially if you want to integrate into the community. Really want to do more, but for now, mpola mpola 😊
Kattukkumma so yummy...
😊
Que interesante el convivio, bendiciones familia, feliz año 2025
¡Muchas gracias! Feliz Año 😊
What was the green fruit that Rafa showed to his father? I'd also like to know which crops Kevin normally sprays.
I'm not sure, but probably a passion fruit. As for Kevin spraying, she doesn't personally spray anything, especially on her plot, because local coffee really doesn't need anything like that.
It was SourSop
@@folateluwo6908yes the leaves can make good tea my mum believes it kills cancer cells...but once it's ripe eat it immediately...it rots fast
Farming is good if you have or get enough land
Yes! Working on that! But it's not easy or cheap at all...
What a sweet baby. She's grown so much. I see her siblings have already introduced her to healthy eating habits😊.
Haha yes indeed! 😁
Me too i want to stay with kevin😩am tired of the city
We're not city people, either 😁
😀😀
@kevinjohns9153 😊
I'm curious as to know why you chose to live in Uganda rather than Nigeria because it's the same setting of life. Unless it's for other reasons.
They did live in Nigeria too but wanted to try Uganda & they felt so welcome there,The children loved it & they decided to stay,They have a Story abt their life & how they met too❤
