To stabilize a stretched canvas for resin, I turn it over and lay it down on the table then pour clear resin in the back of it and let it cure hard. Then, it makes it so that when you pour on the front, the center won't sag and it all stays rigid like a wood panel would. This really turned out beautiful. I love how the colours all blended together and I really love the gold lacing! 😍
Resin still works on small canvas no matter what others prefer or say! Not all of us can afford wooden slabs all the time 😂 thank you for sharing your talents and artistry with us! Luv ya
Julia, You crack me up! Because you have not done much resin on canvas I can tell as can everyone watching that you are super excited. And yes, people do make resin on canvas work all the time. For hints, take some cardboard box material and cut it to fit the back of the canvas. Be sure it fits snug up to the back of the canvas. This helps the canvas not have dips or spots where the resin might dip the canvas making a slight divit. Make sure your resin is warned if the weather is cold. When my weather is cold I use a heating pad and a glass themometer to heat the resin slightly. This helps the resin to better mix better and to flow better on the canvas or the board. Using one color over another often produces cells. White over other colors. Or black other others as well as gold and silver over other colors. I am an acrylic artist but I do like to resin every now and then. You have created a beautiful r❤️🥰🙏✨💕 resin pour!
Hi Julie, I dont know if you know it already - but: theres a formula to calculate the right amount of resin for your canvas/board. It is length times width times 0,158. So for a 30x40cm canvas you need 189,6g resin. Calculate plus about 10% (for the sides or for "just in case"). So you will need about 200g resin (100g A + 100g B). Beautiful artwork!
You are the sweetest ever.. even though I'm in Saudi Arabia but I swear when I watch your videos I feel as if I'm there with you in the room along with all of us watching you. God bless you dear.
First off, beautiful. Second, the smoking you experienced is called an exothermic reaction. That means that you’re heating your resin to a high degree of heat therefore, creating the smoke. Be careful about that because when heating resin, do it slowly so you don’t experience the smoke. I recommend wearing a mask because the smoke creates toxic fumes. Anytime you heat resin to a a high degree, wear a mask, please. As far as your sides are concerned, it’s up to you to have the natural overflow of the resin or tape the sides if you want to paint the sides. Hope this was helpful.
It's also the alcohol evaporation, paired with the resin being too hot. But it is beautiful ♥️. Be careful with heating resin and alcohol, like this person said, the fumes are noxious.
With so many comments I don’t know if anybody else suggested this or not but your leftover resin skins would make beautiful jewelry 💖 when you made the comment about I wonder if there’s anybody close by that might want it I’m like oh geez I could swim across the ocean from the states LOL because the colors on that are beautiful and I would love to have it to make jewelry from 💖💖
What a great teacher you are. I just recommended you to a girl who is ready to give up because of her many flops. She will learn a lot from you! ❤️❤️❤️
I have only been watching you for about 6 months and I fall in love with your positive and love for your art. You make me proud when you try new things and never pretend you are and expect. Never change and keep up your excitement for the love of your art. DBarr a fan of Pouring Your Heart Out!
I watched someone else blowing resin around with a heat gun and hers also formed cells. She had blues and white and it looked foamy almost. Really cool looking. I live the excitement in here. It's infectious.
It’s so fun to see you get excited. I know the excitement. This is beautiful! I seen a lot of people tell you this but it is important to use a mask when you heat up your resin to that degree. Those fumes will really mess with your lungs. I don’t wear my mask the whole time only when I heat it up. I love how you just jump in and try things. It’s absolutely gorgeous.😍💙
Absolutely Gorgeous. I'm commenting late, ... someone may have already suggested, using painters tape to dam the edge of the canvas.. then, when you do your clear, it won't run, ... the Other option- is to put the tape on the back, the resin will peel of with the tape. Those Extra pieces .. use them in All ways. You could still get them into molds- some molds.. or cut your own way, and make Anything with them. Sliced into "cane pieces" they could be arranged in one of your molds, and you could just fill with clear, and have 100% o.o.a.k anything... I'd bet, if you cut the overages, some of it would have rings... I don't watch often- any channel.. but. I do so enjoy how excited and surprised you are at your Own creativity... I like doing mold pours, just like acrylic pours.. you need white and clear, to get them to act right... but. I'm having a BLAST making trays, coasters, and ashtrays- skipping the acrylic pour, and using my resin as if it were pouring paint... gorgeous canvas!!
LOVE IT...cant wait to have a go..😊...and those skins are gorgeous...I see earring and pendant jewellery...placing waxed paper over then pushing down hard with little cutters like polymer clay may give rounded edges to the pieces...not sure..🤔.do let us see if you try...:)...thanks for the inspiration Julie...LOVE your girly excitement when trying new stuff.🤣👍😊.
Your so wonderful Julie, I enjoy the accidents the issues just proves your human and I really love your videos. They make me look forward to trying new things. Love ya keep up the beautiful piece's. Very enjoyable.
This was fun to watch. I loved the first gold ribbon before you heated it, it was a beautiful and looked 3D. I still like how this turned out. You have to keep your heat gun moving. I never heat resin until it is smoking and I always wear my respirator mask and protective eye wear with gloves. I still resined my best dress. I used resin very quickly the first two times I tried it. I had a dry cough for a month. Please protect yourself. ❤️
Gilly, it's so pretty. Got chastised for using 7 colors on a round canvas but looked like my 20th painting in 10 days. Still a beginner. Lauren M Chesterfield Virginia USA
It looks amazing. I use canvases for my resin works and if you work in layers, it works out fine and I make really heavy pieces, never had a problem. I wouldn’t be able to waste all that resin off the side, I would’ve scooped it all up and put it in a mould or used those dry skins in another piece. That’s one thing about pouring art that I just can’t bring myself to do- waste all the paint the runs off the sides. I usually put another canvas underneath and carefully let the excess paint spill onto it, creating a background or something for another piece. Sometimes the cells are better on the underneath canvas if you pay attention to where the excess paint goes. I’m going to see if I can create resin cells with a heat gun now!
This is gorgeous. And, being my favorite colors, I LOVE the blues with gold! You are sooooooo talented. I love watching you create your masterpieces. Thank you for sharing!
I make a dam wall with masking tape, and when my resin gets to it's sticky stage, I then take it off and it slowly coats my edges. (Like your corner catcher does when you do acrylic). I'm so glad you gave this a go! Beautiful! Make jewellery with your skin. You'll be fabulous at ocean pours xxx
That's what they do for epoxy countertops too. You remove the tape when the epoxy is gummy and it kinda just lays down on the edges. Just remember to pinch the top corners of the tape to put tension on the "dam".
When you take the tape off the sides are you pouring more resin down the sides or does the resin that was held in by the tape spill over? I tried the taping and found that when I took the tape off I must have waited to long because it didn't spill over.
Beautiful colors. Super experiment. See a gold fish and a gold sea horse. Definitely underwater! I know nothing about resin but other viewers seem concerned about inhaling the fumes. Do be careful. 💙💛💙
Very pretty colors. You can actually burn the resin and get divots or wrinkles if you heat it too close or long. The smoking is a sign of too much heat. Especially with high Voc resin the more toxic. A respirator is recommended. I support my canvases with card board. It works like a charm.
Highly impressed at your first resin pour always skeptical about resin pour Thanks for your video will try your technique soon looks lovely Good luck 👍 much appreciated Dr F SOUTH Africa
The colors are gorgeous together. The lacing of the gold is beautiful. I see the silloet of a fish in the top corner and underneath the shape of a horses head...so amazing...Love your excitement as you create your artworks...so much fun to watch and learn from you....Thank you for sharing
That is Absolutely Stunning..Great Job Julie. I liked both views of camera. Everything you ask us what we think I always answer you. Thanks for sharing.. 💙💜💙
I knew I could find what I wanted on your channel. I have followed you for a few years and just starting to dabble in resin. This is a wonderful way for me to start and my gosh, what incredible talent you have with resin too!! I'm going to try my hand tomorrow in purples with a little silver or gold. I found out today I can put regular clear tape on the sides as resin doesn't adhere to it. Thanks again for sharing your infinite wisdom, creativity and tremendous talent.
Love it ..so gorgeous and that gold makes it.At first i thought you knew you was doing ..Then as the smoke started I thought oh!no !..You make my night when I need cheering up and feel like a bit of artistic input.Love watching the professionals..Love your work your an absolute star ! 🥰

You are hilarious! I hope your resin is non toxic. You have to be careful about breathing in the fumes. Please check the precautions. When I blow resin, I do use a respirator. Sorry, enough of that, eh? I love how it looks and the lacing is just awesome!. I've resined my canvases before and they turn out great. Hi there. You are my fav when it comes to Pour Painting, Love your humour and you never get boring. I have been doing some really nice Pours with dirty cup pours, swipes etc in oceanic colours and they are really pretty. I purchased some "Platinum 2 part to 1 part" epoxy resin to resin them with. I cleaned the canvases with a warm wet soapy cloth allowed them to dry. Initially the resin just made my canvases POP. I was like WOW Wow Wow.. I went out about 10 minutes later and the whole canvas that I resined just fish eyed all over. I was so upset I wiped the resin off before it started to go off. Have you or anyone else got any theories about this. I had to wipe two small canvases and this stuff aint cheap.
Another great video with gorgeous results. You are so fun to watch. You make me giggle...and you inspire me to get back to creating! ALL of your work is so pretty!

I was looking at something from the US ship to Canada it was only under $100 but the shipping was almost $400
Is there any way you can melted and reuse it
