Back then Vegeta was built like a gremlin, short and wide, the sculpt being more detailed makes the shoulders look big but his proportions were pretty similar back then
@phoebusapollo8365 oh I meant they're too big for the shoulder pads. They rub and get paint on them. They needed to either shrink the shoulders or make the pads bigger for better functionality.
I've also seen someone swap the head, arms and legs from this to the old torso and it looks incredible. Lots of kitbash opportunities, sadly a bad stock figure

I skipped. Utterly appalling for a half baked figure for $65. The torso and head are all that’s new. He doesn’t come with a whole lot. Easily could’ve been $35. And honestly since he’s from the Namekian arc a dragon ball would’ve went a long way.
Early Vegeta was my favorite take on the character. This head sculpt is radical. It makes the other Vegeta look better too. The neck gap hurts this figure's appeal more than anything. I'm still happy to have It.
I'd honestly make the shoulder pads out of silicone so they flex and look better when posing him. But tamashii never learns, as seen with the way the regressed with the neck joint. They could literally have used the one they did for SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta, LSSJ Goku and the new Trunks.
5:05 these are the Namek versions of these characters. But SROE doesn’t stand with this more current run… they’re getting more stylized and saga specific and that Goku is too basic. The faces on Goku are too soft. The new sdcc Goku is a great example. I hope we get at least a headsculpt to go with this Goku.. This would be a good Goku to do exactly what they have the promo shots of the Medical machine doing… Sitting in that tank with the newly provided head sculpt on it because it looks way better than the one that came with the figure lol
I skipped this one. Besides the nice heads, it didn't look like the upgrade I hoped for. Other than the stuff mentioned like the gappy neck, he's still a bit tall and the db super arms they reused are too muscly for this era. And the shoulders are huge! Arms should be subtle like the legs. It's nice overall but I can wait.
Btw Anthony demoniacal fit is making a kaioken goku that comes with skirt armor for this figure to make it the version from the saiyan saga, sadly the skirts don’t move so articulation in the legs will be even more limited but damn it looks good and the goku actually has the correct kanji on the outfit, so its basically the recent kaioken goku but with the addon for vegeta and the correct kanji on gokus outfit and it has karate chopping hands to i should mention
The main thing I want them to do is JUST. MAKE. the scouter Vegetas shorter. Just a little bit. I understand the SSJ able Vegeta being taller because he just was but dammit I wants my little troll doll menace.
Wow you were real nice on this one. You even forgot the HUGE football shoulders that are way larger than the rest of his arm. You basically Gave him an 8 because of his faces. they also over engineered the latest Namek Goku which made him look very segmented, but he at least had far better articulation. was personally very disappointed when I got him.
this is namek saga vegeta, he doesn't have the leg skirts, his name is a reference to when he says his power level is 24k before killing cui, and cui comes with parts for him
I really thought you were going to destroy this figure in the review haha I’m very surprised at the 8/10 rating! Always looking forward to your review after I get a figure
I swapped the shoulders with armored trunks and gave him the slightly longer legs of armored vegeta and that fixed the weirdly too wide proportions. I also gave it the Allstars hip armor and honestly he ended up as my perfect Sayan saga Vegeta
This might be my most disappointing release of the year so far. Agreed on the silhouette and the faces. I love that they're doing these stylized, exaggerated, portraits that better match the source material. I hate how he moves though and the shoulder pads suck. I was able to get the crossed-arms piece to work with the pads down. It's annoying and takes patience that even their photographer didn't appear to possess since he has huge gaps in the back of the box. My other issue with the shoulder pads is that mine have small gaps even in a neutral position and it drives me crazy. At least the old, crappy, hinge had a flush fit. And that diaphragm joint is crap. Combine that with the neck and this is a SHF release that I just want to pose in pretty bland, neutral, poses when that's not how I typically interact with this line.
I prefer it when the background matches the figure especiall for ones like the Ginyu Force where it synergises with their smoke colours. For hair colour especially black I like a matte finish. I was sold on this guy from faces alone even though I expected minimal retooling from the 2.0. release. Considering the did it for the body giving him the Namek-era curved traps I wish they followed suit with the Shoulders making them more sreamlined like the 1st 2 scouter releases instead of the unfitting bulbous Super Vegeta design, getting in the way of the shoulder pads too. Articulation in general for me lowers this figure to a 6, harsh but I'll still get it for updated faces and aesthetics being good. I'll pass on the old battle suit as that has many of the same issues ontop of the faces outside the crying one not being as good.
If they aren't going to put the blast effects and other accessories in the box at least make them a separate item we can purchase. I've bought the flight stands before and I would buy a kamehama effect.
Honestly, I thought you would go harder on this vegeta. I would say it’s a 6/10. It’s not bad but i think the new faceplates, the headsculpt, and overall aesthetic really help it. But the articulation is just lacking which is just frustrating because they’ve done better articulation on other figures in the DBZ line. (LSS Goku, Mecha Frieza, BFTF Trunks, Krillin, and Super saiyan gohan) like they know and can do it I just don’t know why the choose to do vegeta dirty. Especially with an iconic look such as this one. I don’t mind the shoulder pads or the shoulder articulation. I think that’s the best part of the figure. Otherwise it is lacking. In accessories and articulation especially. But it looks good ngl.
It reminds me a bunch of the shf imperfect cell, with the look being prioritized at the cost of torso articulation, and the swaps needed to tweak the mostly good proportioning. also regarding the crossed arms, depends on where you put them. ive lowered them just slightly from how you displayed em and the shoulder pads have no gaps. If anything, both the promo art and you have them too high from the pose referenced in the manga.
I like it when the packaging's colors match that of the figure. It gives it the aesthetic of the figure, so you can kind of tell which character it is.
@@AnthonysCustoms yeah i saw that thats why i was on the fence about buying it but once in hand i noticed mine doesn’t do it i will put up a short showing that mine doesn’t have that gap
They decided to reuse the Super Vegeta shoulders and arms even tho the rest of the body is mostly new so it ends up clashing, Vegeta was short and stocky but he wasn’t this wide especially with the cylinder chest they gave him here but the main issue is easily the arms, too long for the body and too defined for the aesthetic. Vegeta’s spandex wasn’t this skin tight in the Frieza saga
I wonder if there is a way they could use the 2nd form frieza style shoulder engineering somehow for the saiyan armor characters? Or maybe thats just dumb I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to figure engineering

Is it too hard to copy the shoulders from the armored Broly to these guys? It seems they are making more of the characters that have the shoulder pads and messing it up.
The main reason why it worked there and not here is cause Broly shoulder pads sat above the shoulders all the way through, but these older armors the shoulder pad comes down and connects to the chest in a gradual curve and obviously can’t make the chest stretch to connect to the shoulder pads so that gap is there, fully swappable chest pieces plus pre posed shoulder pads would be the way to fix these without any other major compromise (like cutting a butterfly into the armor or something)

I realize a lot of this comes down to PB being an awful store.
