    Thank you for an excellent demonstration. This razor is amongst the best - compared to a list of different makes and styles of DEs I have been shaving for over fifty years.
    Tip: to facilitate loading new blade, the 'Key" / "Stem" may have sharp edges, especially at the tip, hampering smooth insertion and may damage the inner surfaces of the razor head. A remedy is gentle smoothing, such as with 240 wet and dry sandpaper, and then a squirt of DW-40 - into the razor head and on the stem (I also include the magazine dispenser itself). This makes blade replacement a smooth glide. The lubricant can be rinsed off before shaving.

    Just had my first shave with my NOS type L olympics. Absolutely amazing, super smooth like a Gem 1912, but it's even more maneuverable. And honestly the gem and my schick shave better than any of my de razors.

      That's excellent! I'm glad you're enjoying the Schick and the Gem. Both are great shavers.

    I just got one today. Paid $5 at an antique store. No blades yet but I like it. Cleaned up real nice. I enjoy the channel.

    I have this same model of razor. Love it! I use it every day. I have an average beard and I consistently get a dozen 2 pass shaves with no nicks. I rarely use my DE razors anymore.

      I just shaved with it this morning. It may be the perfect head shaver.

      Have you shaved your head with it yet? Is it a good head shaver?

    One of your best videos, in my opinion. Good razor, and to-the-point instruction.

    I have a 1960s era Schick. Thanks for making this video so I don't have to. Geo Fatboy did a demo shave that was great. I did a comparison shave with my Merkur 34c and the were about even performance wise. The Schick is great. Nick Shavers would do better after watching yours and Geo Fatboys videos. Thanks again.

      +Patrick Durbin Hahaha. Thanks. I saw Nick's video on it, but he had the blade loaded wrong. Just one reason why I don't do many "first time using this product" videos. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Scott, enjoy your vids. Thanks for this one, I have a Schick (or two...not sure!) but never used it....yet. Been wet shaving 2-3 yrs, and use both DE and SE....really like the SE's but use both equally.....would love to see you do more "vintage" razor videos, esp SE's.....I have several......thanks again.

    This razor looks innocent but dont let it fool you. Its aggressive and I own 20 different types of razors. Like Gem razors, You have to " Ride the cap" or else its harsh.

    So I got the exact same one but it’s a little in worse condition cause I got it at a flea market but I can’t figure out how you can move the bottom piece at the top of the next so the guard comes down so you can clean it and all that. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s just old and stiff got any tips?

    Is your razor adjustable? I saw a 1968 model with a knob for adjusting shaving depth.

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one is not adjustable, unfortunately.

    Hehe. I just got a GEM 1912 (art deco handle, it's cool, 100+ years old. It's a work of art). I'm still waiting for the GEM blades (3 types from carbon to the coated). I hope SE is better than the DE I have (not the best but it works) and the 5 blade cartridge, battery powered w/ swiveling motion. Come to think of it, DE is actually SE shave coz' you're shaving with one blade still.

    Do you still have the razor with the missing blade stop?

  • @pwnyexpress15
    @pwnyexpress15 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    After you shave do you just leave the blade in the razor? If so, is there a good way to keep the blade and razor clean?

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. I just thoroughly rinse the razor and then allow it to air dry. I'm in a dry climate, so I don't have to worry too much about corrosion.

  • @hedonit

    i learned with and used a schick injector from day one in the mid-seventies
    tried most things since over the past 40 years
    went to DE razors about 5 years ago when i found out they were still around and viable really only online
    haven't found an injector i'm willing to buy on ebay yet but will eventually to complete my nostalgia kick
    hope you didn't toss your "broken" injector, its actually a rare prototype
    schick's failed attempt at a slant ;)

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vince DC Unfortunately, I did toss it at the suggestion of some other shaving friends. Now I'm feeling guilty... :-(

    • @TheCleanShaver

      They're fairly easy to find "out in the wild" if you look at antique shops, etc. Usually anywhere from $8-$14.

  • @gellinmcmellin
    @gellinmcmellin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the info. Can I buy blades separately to stock the injector piece? Or do you need a new contraption each time?

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mark McMillan The only way I've seen them is in the loading key, but there may be a place to purchase them loose.

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mark McMillan Try going here: www.tedpella.com/dissect_html/blades.htm. $4.90 for 20 blades.

    • @TheCleanShaver

    • @TheCleanShaver
      @TheCleanShaver  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      My best recommendation would be to search eBay for something like it. As for blades, you should be able to find Personna injector blades in many places online. I'm not sure about shipping to India, however.
