No matter how good the product is, or how ascendant the industry is, it just does not pay to own companies with bad management, and Unity's management has proven themselves incompetent over and over again. Thankful I didn't buy back in, even though I was tempted. That board is just pure trash.
Great overview. I sold at $45. You saved me the trouble of looking at this again at $21. Thanks!
Good sell :)
everyone hating on U now and he's selling. i don't own shares but it's now looking like a buy to me down here 😅
Yeah I never owned it, I might make a small bet on the new CEO at these prices
It can't get much worse though😂😂A few good news and the stock usually soars like crazy - and they still have their partnership with Apple. I think I'll keep my small position as a moonshot, hoping they can turn this dumpersterfire around, because they literally have a diamond in the rough, but terrible management taking wrong decision after wrong decision
Hi Brian thank you for the knowledge and updates you keep sharing. Is there any chance you can do Nio stock. Cheers.
Sold when you recommended it last ! Thank goodness !
5:02 "I'm a little fired up" 😂 Fired Up Brian is BEST BRIAN
I really enjoyed seeing you so fired up. It shows that you are personally invested in the companies you own. And ensures my trust in you!
I would like to see you get fired up more often
Me too...haha...I sold at $89 way back, and always wanted to find a way back into the company, but after this it will take a while until that will happen again!!!
What if all of his positions are doing well?
Ha, don’t worry - that’ll never happen
@@stoffelbrian LoL
What do you think of their competitor applovin? They seem to do fantastic job!
Thank you for yet another excellent analysis. I cancelled my open order to buy U@21·5, will not touch it no matter how low it goes
Thanks!! I also decided cut loss on this shit.
Great video! fire the CFO
Looks like a good acquisition candidate to me.
Imma just hold on to 10. May go to 0 but theres too much to gain here.... same sentiment i have with SPCE
what do you guys think of Ubiquity $UI and do you think Unity could ever be bought by Adobe
I hope adobe doesn't waste money on this trash
The appearance is to lower the price to it's floor so that it can only go up from there. The new boss is not the old boss.
I got 15 shares of this and thought there’s not much point selling as I’m down 65%. On the other hand, it looks like it might never turn around so might be worth the loss to invest somewhere better.
Why to track such company and waste time
Risky, but could get acquired, they have a decent product
I think Unity will only be willing to really change something and listen to their community if they loose a lot of money. And that is the problem.
It feels like they are so detached from their community that they totally forgot why they were successful in the past. It were the people developing games on their engine. I think the reason why Unity didn't drop very hard by now is, that game developers still finish and publish their games, that they startet on this Engine, but after that, a lot of people will probably switch to Unreal Engine or Godot..
But weren’t you guys a fan of the previous CEO? I remember he had a whole interview in a big Fool event a few years back. He was being presented as some sort of a genius.
Motley Fool is a joke
The interviews at that event were a pretty big oof. Riccitiello (Unity CEO), Skillz CEO, some influencer... I'm not hating on the MF overall, but some of their mistakes have been real bad over the last few years.
Having said that, I don't see what it has to do with the Brians. From what I understand, they're contractors, not Fool personnel. And even if they were, there's people higher up to point the finger at.
@@thefourthnorseman if you know me anything about investing, you will know that MF is a joke amongst the investor community
These guys should just focus on making the best god damn video game engine they can. Everything else is a distraction.
Really interesting analysis. I've worked in the games industry for 20 years, and while Unity does have strong market share of a certain segment, they simply can't compete with other leading engines in other spaces. And the tools aren't very useable (they aren't widely adopted professionally, so it's hard to imagine theoretical UGC adoption). And the services segment won't mean anything if no one wants to develop on their platform.
Thank you for the insight
Agreed
I am a gamer and programmer myself and I got the impression that unity is very popular with indie dev studios. So I think the problem here is not a bad product but bad management
That’s definitely the problem. It’s also why this is all so frustrating
It reminds me of wolfspeed but worse if possible
Learned leçon : bad management = don’t buy
Meta should buy Unity
The new CEO looks like more of the same of Riccitiello - his career history screams FORCE MONETIZATION and MOBILE OVER EVERYTHING which is exactly the opposite of what I want to see from Unity.
I sold as well. FCF going from 60M to negative 13M was the last straw. This video just gave some more conviction to that decision.
I thought the Apple CFO doing buybacks at 28pe ratio was bad management now we just found someone even worse.
Apple buybacks are to keep the stock up as a strong, safe haven so investors keep buying. Not a bad idea at all and has nothing to do with valuation.
The stock based compensation is driving me NUTS. I'm so angry i bought this stock
Growth companies tend to do this and should be expected
@@bluezaton They are barely growing... I feel like they will never turn a profit, just constant dilution even 10 years from now
It's going to the $4- $5 there's nothing there was just covid just like the fintechs gaming all of these junks are in their 4 years in the downtrend and will continue another 80%
This has been junk for three years now. Forget about it and move on. It's going to $5.
WOW, Unity is so bad even investors complain.
This is what happens when you pick on and tick off your customers.
what happened in 2021 when you had 448% return, then it dropped by 70%?
The market has a major valuation reset. Notice the other two lines fell precipitously
Totally a dumpster fire
Lol this aged well, it's already up 6% after Friday oversell. If you talk to anyone who's actually worked within Matthew Bromberg's chain of command they'll tell you he's a legit guy who actually made shit happen in both EA and Zynga. Jim and Matt combination can be very good by end of year. Turnarounds take time, and they always look worse before they get better. It's not the time to panic sell, we're not flaky traders
I'd rather spend money @ Red Lobster
You make money when you take risks 😂
you also lose money when you take risk, more often than not
IF you show a wrong chart and talk about it - you can re-do and EDIT the dang video ... like every other TH-cam pro out there ;-)
LOL
When he came out and said you will have to pay pr installment i knew it was over for this company 😂😂😂 There is no coming back from that
This video was unintentionally so hilarious. I hope you continue to cover awful shit companies 😂😂😂😂😂😂
So sell for a loss😂?
Worst stock in the world history
I start accumulating now at 19
