My dear friend Walter. I have just moved you to the top of the list of my favorite guitar players, ahead of Jim Hall, Ed Bickert, Joe Pass, ...and the rest. No other player every spoke to me like you do, Angelic, every chord, every phrase.. There are a few chords you play, that i am still trying to figure out. anyway...I will keep on listening. Keep on, Amigo.
Wow!!! Thank you so much for your super kind compliments! I'm honored to hear that my music speaks to you in such a great way. Thank you!!! All the best / Walter.
Such exceptional mastery is GENIUS. Like Jim Hall, Johnny Smith, Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis, Charlie Byrd. This guy's in that company. To watch him play is warmer than Segovia and the classicists. No lightening speed like McLaughlin, but rather a lyricism that tugs at your deepest emotions. I adore this man's playing. He's gifted with the whole package.
No joke.. this cat Walter Rodriguez jr has got to be the most smooth / tasteful / non slurring / wonderfully melodic player I have personally heard. I would love to sit with this man and learn and play alongside. I’ve been playing since 1975 and this is a treat to listen to. Thank you Sir😘
This is my idea of what guitar playing is all about . great technique and a great instrument in the hands of a sensitive inventive artist . frank forte
Hey Walter! Thanks for the candid and honest remarks about the guitar. But, all of us that perform know, that it's not really the guitar but the person behind it. Just another incredible job Walter. Truly beautiful! God Bless You!!
Great rendition of this beautiful melody of the great Victor Young. I love this interpretation. Sweet job. The great H. Mancini said of Young: "Victor sits at the piano and the melodies fall off his sleaves."
Dear Walter, I just had the pleasure of finding this gem from you while doing a youtube search for "Beautiful Love," as I just put up a version on TH-cam. This is wonderful playing from you! Feliz natal a voce, Cory
Thank you so much for your kind compliments, Cory! Always a pleasure hearing from you! I just watched your upload and it's fantastic! Um Feliz Natal e um Prospero Ano Novo para voce, meu amigo! Walter
My goodness Walter, no one can play jazz better!!! You are better than some guys that have recorded jazz CD's. Its not about competition i know that but u are simply sensational.
I revisited your 'Beautiful Love' today, man, you have a great touch and flow, really floats me down the stream of music as you're pouring it out cool and fresh. The tone of that guitar is so near perfect, with clear bright singing treble and deep old school big body F-hole bass, that sustains like a solid body electric. Who do I mortage my house to to get one? You are on a level among the jazz chord/melody players I love, and some days my favorite. I hope Lenny Breau didn't hear that!
I thought I watched all your videos, Walter, by I guess I missed this one until now. I know I've heard Beautiful Love many times before, but it never really struck me until today when I watched a video of Jim Hall & Petrucciani playing it today. Then I started looking for other versions to get a better idea of the tune & came across yours. Lovely, Walter, as usual. Very tasteful.
Great music - cool playing. Your jazz standard playing reminds me of Alan de Mause -- maybe you've heard him. Lots of single-note lines with chords punched in just right. Post more and more!
hi Walter . just listening to some of your tunes to relax me as i'm playing chess . problem is that you play so beautifully that i'm having trouble concentrating on my game :-(
@sevensharpeleven youre welcome. but seriously! your tone is amazing. It's so clean and fluid it's like crystals. do you have any albums i can purchase?
Very inspiring playing, Walter - you play some of the most tasteful music on guitar that I've heard for a long time. I really LOVE the sound of this guitar - that's what brought me here - I'm really pleased I found your channel! By the way, if you have time, what are your personal thoughts on this guitar? It sounds wonderful for fingerstyle and suits your outstanding playing beautifully.
+Rudy Roo Thank you so much for checking it out! The guitar on this video is a Mortoro Cocobolo edition, built by a fantastic luthier named Gary Mortoro.
This is a beautiful arrangement. I continuously come back to listen, and share with as many people as possible. I have a few questions however. First, I am trying to arrange this song from the Real Book and I'm wondering if you have any tips for coming up with your own solo arrangement. Second, I'm curious about what key you transposed this to, because the realbook is playing in dm I think.
Walter, I have fallen in love with your playing. I've been playing finger-style for many years but still am encountering problems with my nails breaking/chipping regularly before they get the appropriate length for my playing. This even though I primarily play a classical Could you offer any advice? Thanks!!
Oh, please, Walter you must tell us about this guitar. What is it?. I wish all guitarist would have a note about what the guitarist they are playing in the video, but especially this one!!!!!!!!
Learn by ear and watch his fingers move and you'll learn much more than just this piece. But if you just started out with music you might want to start learn easier/simpler songs first
Very good playing. This thème was composed by Victor Young, Wayne King and Egbert Van Alysine in 1931. I like also this version of Pablo Mercader: th-cam.com/video/Jju8G-UpWhw/w-d-xo.html

All the best / Walter.
I heartily concur with Harry on his accolades here...
Walter will always be in my top five fretboard-adventurers‼️
The way the instrument should be approached. Harmony, melody, invention, taste. Bravo.
I would never stop listening this solo guitar version of Beautiful Love: thanks for posting
You are the best. I love how you make jazz look so easy to play and yet so beautiful. I salute you sir
Beautiful song, beautiful guitar, beautiful playing. Beautiful all the way around.
This is the kind of jazz i like because it makes so much harmonic and musical sense. Well done.
No joke.. this cat Walter Rodriguez jr has got to be the most smooth / tasteful / non slurring / wonderfully melodic player I have personally heard. I would love to sit with this man and learn and play alongside. I’ve been playing since 1975 and this is a treat to listen to. Thank you Sir😘
Walter your rendition of Beautiful Love is still the best by far. You're a blessing to mankind
Sem dúvida um dos mestres da jazz guitar. Que maravilha de "playing".
You have to be the smoothest jazz guitarist I've ever seen. I enjoy listening to your smooth chords as well as watching you play

I am sad and you could make me cry. Too late for me to learn at 70. If someone would teach me I could accompany my tears myself

Can I ask what brand of guitar that is and what amp you are using?
Thanks for answering my question.
Can you plug into the Mbox with a 1/4 inch cord?

Hi there sir maestro walter it's me Stanys just want to ask you if you can help me to teach me some chords boss!?
what is the name of chord in 1:35?
That's called a very hard Major seventh chord with a dominant thirteenth. Very popular in jazz music
