Wow, haven't seen TGJ as a trio in quite a while. These ladies have REALLY jelled! Nice to see Emi forefront, and Rina has really hit the comfort zone on the bass. Well done TGJ! Keep on doing! Every incarnation of you folks is a real treat!
I really loved the song. You all play so well together. I have enjoyed watching you all for years. Mimi is solid on the drums. Hello from Sacramento, California.
haha, you guys have so much fun on this -- and you can see the popularity. Rina made a great showcase composition...and one of things so visible is one more of Emi's many dimensions. I keep noticing how many ways she can express with keys, from piano into these multiple voices from the beginning. You all make a great deal of enjoyment -- and yes, I hear just as much a certain percussionist, spirit, and when she sings :)
@@michaelbarnett9388You said it, brother. Rina's base line here is more than superb. Neither overbearing nor mundane, just pure and organic funk. Rising star, really.
Rina has really grown a lot and easing into her role as bassist for TGJ. She's visibly more expressive and confident now compared to when she first joined.
@@paulsherman51 Harumo was probably working with her own band, or guesting with Muses, or recording, or sitting in with someone else, or maybe just taking a break, but I imagine she will continue to appear with TGJ in the future. 😂 BTW, “wherefore art thou?” has a nice Shakespearean ring to it, but it doesn’t mean “where are you?” - it means “why are you?” - a good question for Romeo Montague, but not Harumo Imai…
I've said it before in another of their songs but the base players' facial expression and body movements are such a turn on: she's hot, looks like she's having fun and in another world. Looking forward to the next video :-)
If you like it, it might be worth looking at Rina's solo albums. Unfortunately they're a real pain to get outside Japan, as sometimes they're on streaming services but usually they aren't, so one might have to actually import a physical CD, like it's still the 90s. I hate to sound like Music Hipster Guy, "oh there's this other good thing too but it's kinda obscure" but they actually are very good, especially Ancient, the most recent album, and folks who like the Rina-written tracks on the new TGJ album (Copper Ravens and Keep On Vibes) might like them. I cannot help but think that if Rina Hoshino was a tenth as good at self-promotion as she is at playing bass, she'd be a really big name. But it's hard to imagine her having the time to do anything _but_ play bass with TGJ, TsukiTeras, her solo stuff, and backup and side projects. It's hard to imagine when she finds time to sleep. It's probably why she's so good. The woman plays live gigs _constantly_.
@@ericeves1180 Thanx for the helpful info about Rina's solo material - and you're right - it's pretty hard to find and/or purchase. Maybe I'll have to be content with the TGJ stuff that's available, at least for now. BTW, have you seen the interview with Rina where she mentions that she was an award winning clarinetist in high school? I wonder if that could have anything to do with the rather unusual melody of "Copper Ravens"?!🤣
Note also that Rina's solo live from Virtuoso Akasaka tomorrow (Friday) will be streamed. Details from the Virtuoso Akasaka website. Unless I've missed something, last time was October 2022, so it is a rare opportunity.
The Virtuoso Akasaka performance was a good one. Rina was in good form, with very solid backup musicians. Makes me hope she finds time to make another solo album soon, and that it's easier to get overseas than the ones so far.
Her 4th solo album was recorded about a year ago, but she has been too busy to finalise the production. On that one she collaborated with a keyboard player. And since I understood next to nothing of what was being said during Friday's performance, I don't know if any of those songs were played on Friday with Yabori-san taking over the kb parts on guitar, or if it was other material. Her full back catalogue used to be available on both Spotify and Apple Music, but vanished at some point. Apparently there's no straightforward way to get them back online, so I eventually bought the CDs while in Tokyo. I also hope the 4th one will have wider distribution.
You can tell that the song is written by a bassist, the base line is sooooo smooth. Rina always drinking some juice or something. It makes her wanna dance!
This would excellent music for a film. I can see it in a Charlie Chaplin film, or a comedy or circus movie with lots of movement or chase scenes. Well done girls !!!!!
That film, scored by this, might portray the Tokyo loop as a carousel; spinning around from Shinjuku to Ueno, to Roppongi, to Akihabara, everything in between; even out to Tama-shi and back. The film would cut away to images of dancing horses and sitting benches; then back to everybody's normal day to day lives. Filmed in sepia even better. Plot twist--how the protagonist has to deal with the real world when the ride stops and they step off the spinning carousel, exiting any one of the various stations of all the subway lines, every time destination is reached. Flashbacks? Flashforwards? You're right: Rina's Dream piece evokes a movie idea. Maybe that's the title, Rina's Dream?!
Bravo!! fantastic! sounds so good!! RINA!!! MIMI!!! EMI!!! I love RINAs groove and slide, so nice to hear! really gets your toes tapping. so happy to see her bouncy and happy. really cool!
Digging this new composition. It came on behind another window I was working in. It gave me the feel of music from way back. I knew it was TGJ but it wasn't like their "usual" music. Was also surprised when I brought their window up and it was the basic three. Keep on making great music ladies.

This is so out of the box for TGJ! Vaudeville meets the rest of Europe. All 3 of you really excelled here. I just loved it! ❤
素敵な曲☺️✨
この曲でフロアが一体になれたら最高だろうな🕺
Indeed. They have such a Klezmer and/or Russian vibe going on here that you just want to get up and dance right there. True harmony, TGJ.

My thoughts, exactly. Harumo, where for art thou?
